Don't just check 'guilty' and send in money. Most state's tickets give you a choice to request a hearing or trial. On your court date, arrive early and meet with the prosecutor (Usually just a cop that handles cases for the rest of the force.) Explain that you just forgot, your ID, show that you have it and ask for 'consideration'. If it's your first ticket you may get a concession. Tell them you're a 'poor college student', whatever fits - but don't lie. Don't lie about your driving record either - they may have already checked that out. (Don't ask me how I know that!) Let him scold you for not having your ID and insurance card with you, but be firm that you should not be fined for that as you did have insurance. If he offers a reduced fine for the registration, take it. If not and you're feeling good, go before the judge and plead your case. Be advised that the 'state' has clear 'proof' that you were operating unregistered, so likely they will just say 'you should have been responsible and re-registered....'
Good luck!

It probably depends on your location. Are you in the US? From reading your post it seems English may not be your first language, not saying that means you can't be in the US but I'm sure things could be completely different in another country than what I tell you. I'm surprised you were wrote a ticket for forgetting your license, cops can easily pull up your info in their computer system which I've had to have done for before when I lost my license once and it wasn't a problem. You may have just gotten a complete jerk of a cop if he wrote you a ticket for that, most decent cops understand shit happens like your ID gets stolen or lost and they're fine with pulling you up on their computer and letting it go.
I just read your post again and noticed you said ID instead of license. Do you have a license or just an ID card? If just an ID card then disregard everything said above. Yes you will absolutely have to pay your fine for driving without a license if you just have no license period. If he did write you a ticket for just not having one then it should say any amount on the ticket. Just to be sure just call the police department in the town where you were pulled over and ask them so there is no confusion.
im reading on internet that if you show proof of dl and insurance to records department 48 hours after stop it can be dismissed ,phew

I'd just plead not guilty at every court date. They just give you a new one. However, show your license asap-I believe you have 48 hours to produce it. I promise this is really not a big deal.
in usa, i have driver license not id

Ok good, just show them your ID in that case. Also, I'm really surprised you're not getting stopped left and right for expired tags-maybe it's just Ohio that sucks for that lol.
yeah i got cranky cop, wrote me three tickets for one offense. last summer i had warning for wide turn, maby it was time to not let me slide
I've had this happen. Went to the court date, showed my license and the insurance card proving I had it at the ticket date. Still got hit with paying for my headlight being out, but they excused the other stuff.

if you have the time,l go to the hearing. IF you can show that you had insurance and ID at the time of the offense, they may let you slide, kinda a 50/50 shot, don't be pissed if you get nothing.

Usually they will dismiss the ticket for the ID and and ins as long as you can prove you actually did have both. Just as an FYI you almost always need to have your ID with you now. I know you said you forgot it, it happens sometimes but even if you are not driving in many states law enforcement can demand to see ID at any time.

Slight threadjack but I once drove my car regularly for a year and a half with an expired tag. It was years ago and I was going through a hard time, I hadn't ppaid my taxes that were due on the car and just didn't have the money to straighten everything out. It was mostly from pure luck and my extreme farsightedness helping me be able to spot cops from a long ways away if one is coming up on me, I'm my own radar detector lol.

Depending on your jurisdiction not having ID and not having insurance may be a separate offense from not having the documentation in your possession while operating the motor vehicle. You might want to check.
