Default Anyone ever worked a comedy club before?

I recently just started bar tending @ a club and it's been good -- tips are good (200-400 avg) it's kind of a drive tho (45-1hour), and honestly I'm so burnt out that even just bar tending in the club annoys me -- still have to hustle and flirt and sit in laps, and I've been finding myself drinking every shift, which has been messing w my fitness routine and sleep.

I got offered a cocktailing job @ a well known comedy club in Hollywood and I'm thinking of leaving the bar (I can't do both w my school schedule). I love stand up and I just think the environment would be healthier for me rn. Tips would be lower though, but it's a much closer drive (15-20 min). I wonder if anyone has worked in a comedy club before and can give me any insight ?

I cocktailed at a CC briefly. It's very fast paced, if it's set up the same way as the club I worked at...as in you have to get your entire section drinks as soon as they are seated (before show). Many CC's have a 2 drink minimum, so you have to then get everybody another drink as soon as they are done. Many people are not big drinkers, so if they declined their second drink we had to explain about the two drink minimum and offer water if they didn't want a drink. When the show is close to being done you have to drop off everyone's bills and try to close them out ASAP before they leave. You repeat this for 2-3 shows per nite. It's very little personal interaction and can be stressful (but you get used to it). You can make decent money, but usually it's just on the weekend. I don't know if every club is set up this way, hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply that was really helpful! At least w the scheduling they have me already set for Thurs-Sun so I know I'll get some weekend money in there. When you say tips were decent how much did you average?
