    Default New to NYC

    Hi,
I have just moved to New york and am trying to get in the swing of things. Unfortunately, I am from the west coast and am having a hard time finding a place that does GOOD acrylic nails. Does anyone have any suggestions for a place? The last ones i got fell off after a week... I didn't think that was possible.

    Thanks!

Maybe in Washington Heights in the Dominican area. Or, in the Bronx. I lived in CA and had great acyrlics. It's almost impossible to get good acrylics in NYC. However, the past couple of years I've met ladies that have nice acrylics. They tell me they get them in the Bronx or Brooklyn. Maybe do some research on Yelp. Yelp isn't always accurate. However, it's a place for you to start a salon search. Good luck!

It's so true... there are hardly any good acrylics here! In Manhattan, they're all gel and short and expensive as hell. I went to one good place in Spanish Harlem - over by 1st Ave and 116/117th street - "Fierce Spa". There's also "Nails on 7th," but that's pretty much reserved for intricate designs (which is perfect if you're into them!), so it'll be pricier. Jenny who runs the place does Cardi B's nails, if you know of her. Everyone claims that she has a nasty attitude though (I don't know, I've never been!), but she does great nails. You can get good ones in Washington Heights probably, places in Harlem, and Brooklyn/the Bronx. Don't bother with most of Manhattan though - it's all the high fashion trends etc. Let me know if you find anywhere good! :-)
