Hey so I haven't shopped for new makeup in a really long time but there are all kinds of fun brands out there.
What are your favorite cosmetic brands and favorite products?

Maybelline honestly has the best "bang for buck" for mascara, foundation & pencils. The mascaras seem to dry out faster than they used to but I put a drop of witch hazel into the tube & it's all good.
Milani (especially for women with olive or of African descent complexions.) & Shockingly Wet & Wild- used to be cheap/super gross but now they have a lot of great colors & products. Also ELF products.
& Avon.
edit to add- Rimmel BUT the color scheme seems to be geared towards Caucasian women (I'm darker complected to I only use a few products.) Provocalips long wearing lip stain is really creamy, I don't even use the top coat for it. & Wal Mart carries Hard Candy...Definitely a good choice for girls who do a lot of gothy looking makeup

I'm really into theBalm cosmetics now

I LOVE The Balm! Their products are adorably packaged and work so well. My favorite is their eye shadow palette Meet Matte Nude and their Matte Hughes liquid lipstick.
Other favorites of mine are ColourPop, Gerard Cosmetics, Dose of Colors, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Jeffree Star Cosmetics for their liquid lipsticks.
MAC Cosmetics is my go to brand for any product, they have been my favorite for so many years. I also love Urban Decays eyeshadow primer, Becca foundation and foundation primer, and NARS radiant creamy concealer. when it comes to mascara, I love Loreal Voluminous in Carbon Black

Matte matte Matte everything honey!
Revlon usually has lippys that are way too shiny but those Matte Lip Balms are great. Pigmented colors and they smell like chocolate mints. http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/prod...Impprod6010256

I like elf for an every day bareface look. Maybelline is a favorite for mascara, but as Snuffle says, it dries out quickly. I add in a couple drops of contact solution.
I CANNOT live without my setting powder: Ben Nye Neutral set setting powder. *This powder will keep my face matte for hours! Even through a light sweat.
I prefer professional makeup over consumer grade. MAC is considered professional grade, but it is priced at the consumer level (hello markup!). Prof makeup brands like RCMA, Graftobian, Cinema Secrets, Ben Nye contain more pigment and less additives (to extend shelf-life). RCMA is my favorite for foundation. They have a great selection of colors that work well with Asian and chocolate skin tones. Ben Nye started as a theatrical brand, and their products are usually included in halloween makeup kits. I love the creme color pots.
Consumer brands I do like and will buy when at the makeup show or with some other discount (I refuse to pay full price lol)
Benefit (but they have limited color selection)
Urban Decay - everything is pretty great
Tarte - great pigments, especially lip colors
MAC - eye shadow
MUFE - eye shadow
elf (studio line)- some things are very good quality, others not so much. Buy online when there is a 50% sale.
Brushes - Ben Nye, elf (studio) and crown brush are my favorites
I also like sponges- you can't go wrong with the classic wedge sponge and the complexion sponge from Real Techniques (like a beauty blender, but peach/orange with a flat side)
*edit to add: NYX also has good eyeshadows, pigments and creme color pencils. Not as pigmented as MAC or MUFE, but much less expensive and will still pop with a good primer (eye primers I like: Urban Decay and Loreal)

MakeupForever Matte Velvet liquid foundation. Full coverage without feeling like a mask and comes with fairly neutral tones. I'm fair but have an olive undertone so many foundations are a little too pink toned for me.
Physicians Formula pressed powder. SPF, lightweight and sensitive skin friendly.
Lash Stiletto mascara. It gives me great length and never flakes.
Ardel lashes. They're great for my almond shaped eyes, come in just about any style you could ever want and are quality enough to wash and reuse a few times. I get mine at Sally Beauty Supply.

Bobbi Brown and Maybelline. Is it just me or has the price of drugstore makeup skyrocketed in the last year or two?

I find Estee Lauder makeup really good even tho its not really cool, its works great.
xoxo
Urban Decay, Kat Von D, NYX, Tarte, NARS, Dermablend, Benefit, Anastasia & UHM - I just love makeup!
Favorite brand of falsies is from Eylure. Keep trying to find cheaper and am just thinking of getting extensions. I'm already using generic Latisse but forget at times :/
Bratty Princess

As someone so pale, a friend once asked on Halloween to borrow my foundation for their "vampire makeup," finding foundation light enough for my skin has always been a pain. I've come really close, but even really close gives me a little bit of a mis-matched tan. HOWEVER, about a month ago I found something that actually matches my skin tone and gives me that photoshop-illusion evenly toned skin that everyone else has enjoyed since the dawn of time. Hallelujah, it exists.
Loreal True Match -- actually turned out to have a true match for me. Color me totally blown away, they actually had a shade lighter. I'm almost tempted to buy the stuff in bulk in case they discontinue the product. It's really light, and a little bit goes a long way. From what I saw, they had a pretty wide range of shades on the darker side of the spectrum, too. I don't know what magic they worked to create a foundation so perfectly matched to my (apparently, judging by foundation selection from every makeup store ever) odd ball skin tone, but however they did it, I'm over the moon.

Very similar to you. I shop at Alcone and mostly do Limelight (since I also sell it). But I love Kevin Aucoin eye brow pencil. I used to use Makeup Forever a lot too.
Drug store brands I gotta admit I like Revlon color stay lip pencil! And while I love Limelight mascara I still have some love for Maybelline's Voluminous.

I just discovered this a few hours ago. It's AMAZING stuff - http://www.makeupforever.com/…/en…/m...e/primer/step1
It's the "smoothing" one i'm talking about, not the mattifying one.
My favorite drugstore brands are Revlon, Loreal, Milani. Elf is a hit or miss. I haven't tried WNW recently but I may try.
Not much of a department store girl but I like Bare Minerals sometimes and the Buxom collection. I may also start investing in Kat Von D products....

MAC (everything.. & false lashes, brushes)
Chanel (everything)
Lancome (good mascaras)
Smashbox (eyeshadow, primers, lipgloss)
Many of the obstacles you once imagined are not even there.
♡♡
I love all the expensive make up, my bank account doesn't.
With mascara I have noticed that even the cheapest mascara does the exact same thing for my lashes as the expensive ones do.
I love that drug store brands are making better quality make-up lately. Some eye shadow pallets are almost as good as my urban decay one.
Especially if you combine cheaper make up with top brand primer.
My current love is Benefit though, LOVE their new summer line. Been wearing hoola bronzer every single day.
Meanwhile in my room:

I'm a makeupforever slut. Like, after I first got some samples of their brand I started swapping over my whole collection
With the primer and the setting spray, my makeup is going NOWHERE. I had a customer accidentally put his finger in my eye during an awkward hug and I thought i'd have black shadow all over my face... nothing. Did not move.
The only gripe I have with the brand is if you like using brushes to apply foundation rather than the beautyblender, the ultra HD foundation does gum up your foundation brush and you CANNOT let it go more than a week without proper shampooing (I know you're not supposed to anyways but srsly who does them every week). The Mat Velvet is a better foundation choice for brushes, especially if you're not in a situation where having your makeup invisible in HD matters.

It's funny you mention MFE..I have a mini lipstick (Sephora Bday gift) in a neutral red I LOVE. It's not on Sephora's website, & I'm determined to find @ least a similar color!

I'm so in love with Rihanna's Fenty Beauty line! I can't get enough of it and the fact that she released it with so many shades in the foundation. Ugh I live!
I prefer lightweight coverage because I think it blendable etc My favorite product by Fenty is the shimmer stix Ugh I live again!

Personally I think she did the best Fenty review because she understood that it's not meant exactly for people looking for the dramatic "beat face". Also I love this youtuber.

Urban Decay; eyeshadow (powder)
NYX; face primer
Victoria’s Secret; lipgloss and body shimmer
Stila; eye shadow (liquid)
BH Cosmetics; brushes
Too Faced; highlighter and glitter glue
Becca; lipgloss
Still experimenting with foundations. I need a pale/fair foundation that won’t settle in my dimples while being medium coverage.
I wear Loreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB cream. I don't like wearing a ton of face makeup because my skin thinks it's still a teenager and will break out easily. When I'm having acne I wear the Loreal Paris Magic Anti-Redness Correcting Primer under the BB cream. Almay I-Intense eyeliner and eye shadow for green eyes, Covergirl Full Lash Bloom mascara, and Burt's Bee's tinted lip shimmer. I love the cooling sensation and minty scent. Hard Candy is awesome for when you want purple, green, blue, copper, silver, white, or gold eye liner.
I love Anastasia brow powder. Benefit has some good highlighter and of course I second Fenty especially if youre a WOC but there is something perfect for every skin tone because Rhianna had everyone in mind when she started her brand.
