Default The New Child Has Arrived!

    Shameless showoff!

We washed her and then I dropped Jillian off at Automotive school... My old auto teacher came out and looked at her. She's #4 and she rides real smooth! Finally a reliable daily driver! She doesn't really fit in the driveway right now but we'll make room! I've been talking about this for ages, and she's finally home. I feel bad that I spent the money on her and not the others, but they will all get their turns. It's just great to have something I know will (probably) not break down on me! (cause AAA won't touch them). I had a fun filled day driving her around and even opened her up on a stretch where I could really feel the power of her LT1 corvette engine. She goes FAST! Although she needs an O2 sensor to pass smog (I dont know if any of you remember my post about the guy selling her and I thought he secretly knew she would fail... well she DID fail), it should be an easy fix. She has some rust spots and some peeling clear coat, but I'll worry about those later. I am on cloud 9 right now! I SO understand how car hoarding happens. Buying a new hearse to me is like a drug and I need an intervention! LOL

Each of them have had their turns being my daily. I have to say a 96 the reactions are far different, since she still looks like shes in service. People stop for you, let you over easier, dont cut you off as much, etc. People also tend to remove their hats and make signs of the cross and such (mostly hispanics). The others are clearly not in service and I either get disgust or thumbs up.. there is no grey area inbetween!

I just took her to the shop to have one of the O2 sensors replaced. Fingers crossed the check engine light wont come back on and she'll pass smog. They also gave her the once over and the rear end is blown out. Both the regular hydraulic and the air shocks are blown and the differential is leaking. Not big issues really. Everything else seems pretty sound they said, no other leaks that they could see. Will be having that nasty ass dex cool replaced with regular green antifreeze soon and installing an OBD2 multiple gauge to monitor temperatures. I love her already! So smooth and beautiful. I feel guilty about Jimmy rotting as he is now but he will hopefully get his turn soon.

Thanks! Cadillac Fleetwoods and the Commercial Chassis (hearse) cars came stock with the LT1 from 94-96. 96 was also the last year of the rear wheel drive for any cadillac. The last of the big bodies, I consider all cadillacs afterward to be garbage. Although I kind of like the 2015 coaches!

Someday I can imagine myself owning one of these. But for now, no more hearses until they're all restored! God, that'll be forever lol... My next acquisition though will likely be an ambulance unless somehow I come across a 59.. But anyway, I just love showing them off! lol

So just a quick update, I'm sure some of you saw my "Hearse Problems" post before I bought this car....

She did not pass smog, initially, as the check engine light came on on my way home from picking her up.. I ended up having to have a new O2 sensor installed, which I think I mentioned. No biggie. I think she's actually good now. Although, the car has a leaking differential and rear shocks that are completely blown out. When I told the guy about that this past week he said "oh yeah, I knew about that. It just wasnt bad eough to address yet".

Oh well thanks for letting me know before I bought the car, right? Wtf. I love how he said the ONLY thing that was wrong was the smog issue and the exhaust leak (which by the way, is loud as fuck and embarrassing but luckily wont be difficult to fix). I thought maybe someone who I called a friend would fully disclose everything before selling me the car, and I see my initial fears about that were correct. That's not to say I am not willing to put money into the car, of course I am.. but still. It's kind of shitty. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and think well maybe he just forgot to tell me about it but I dont know.

The grinding/vibration is getting much worse though, especially since I am using her as a daily driver. It will have to be addressed ASAP. But Jimmy is next as he has to pass smog by the end of March.. Mo $$ mo $$ mo $$!

If he misrepresented the problems with the hearse and it's a big deal for you, it may be possible to get some of your money back if you take him to court.

Nah, hes a "friend" in the club. That would just be causing unnecessary drama. Side note: I went to the dmv today to finish up the transfer and boy did they give me a hard time! Did not want to finish it without a weight certificate because shes classified as a commercial car. Thats funny because seller also told me the car had already been reclassified. I basically had to beg them to allow me to write an affidavit saying this car is for personal use. By the end of it, I had been at the DMV for 5 hours and spoken to god knows how many people. Just a complete fiasco. They finally decided to reclassify as a station wagon even though california law says the hearse has to have seats in the back with seat belts in order to be reclassified. Its a stupid money grabbing law but I knew I was in for it when the lady at the window looked at the paper and said no, this car is still classified as a hearse.. Nice. But luckily its all over with now, I have non commercial plates and the title is coming in the mail in two weeks. It's weird though, my two older hearses are both still classified as HR on the titles, yet they never gave me issues about them. Maybe they figure theyre too old to be in service? I guess it didnt help I had a casket in the back when I arrived but having been told the car was already reclassified, I didnt think I was going to have to do any of that. Ugh... Hearse problems

Nothin. I just have them... I dont really have anywhere else to put them but in the coach lol.. Its what they were made for, right? Sometimes we display them but I havent been able to do that since I traded my church truck (piece of equipment that is uses to move and display caskets) for a couch lol
