    Default Face & Body Oils

Which oils are you using on your face vs body?

I've been using Argan oil on my face for years and it's great. Is there anything better on the market as far as pure oils go?

For body, what is your go-to? Coconut oil is too pore cloggy for body but everyone keeps recommending me that and I'm like noooooo! I still rub pure vitamin E from capsules onto my implants as my doctor recommended, but I want to mix it with a better oil. Argan seems not potent enough but it's better than nothing. I see so many oils and I'm like heeeeelp meeeeee because half turn out so pore cloggy

For bod, I use avacado oil, it has natural vitamin e. For face, I have a couple sample oils, 1 from Bobbie Brown, 1 Erno Lazlo
Also, I heard grapeseed oil is light, easily absorbed.

I'm going to try avocado oil first and report back after awhile! Oils either clog pores or they're very runny. I feel that way about coconut oil and almond oil. I like the suppleness of Argan but want to find something even a little more supple for the body.

Grapeseed oil. I buy it in bulk and pour it into small bottles. It has a super faint scent and is much lighter than coconut oil. I use it as body oil and to take off my eye makeup. I use it in the shower, after I shave I slather it on and then rinse off and pat dry. My skin abosrbs it (unlike the heavier oils) but stays moisturized. My mom says that tip changed her life lol! When I have a dry patch, cut, or anything that needs extra tlc I use the vit e capsuls. I even use them on my lips when they get dry in the middle of winter.

I don't use oils and use products only for sensitive skin now. I had used Bio-Oil for some scars on my arm (worked fine) and ran out of my regular moisturizer. The bottle said can be used as a moisturizer so I did. Within two days the skin around my eyes began to crack and peel. 4 years later and after medication I swear the area still burns.

So avocado oil is less supple than Argan oil. Still looking for something more supple

I'm looking for the thickest hydrating oil possible. Castor is obviously too thick and sticky, but something between that and argan. Supple isn't a good word. I meant supple as in not too thick and sticky so it's still spreadable unlike castor oil, but also still much more rich and plush similar to argan but thicker.

I use a blend of oils as I find blends to be much more effective overall. This one is excellent and exactly the consistency you describe: http://www.swansonvitamins.com/acure...1-fl-oz-liquid

For my body, I mix oils into a bottle of basic body lotion (Aveeno makes a good one). This helps thin the oil out, and also mixes water and oil elements so that your skin benefits from both. Once I've used some of the lotion (so that there's space in the bottle), I funnel in avocado oil, jojoba, vegetable glycerine, and any other goodies I want to add. You need to shake the bottle before you use it to keep everything mixed. But it's pretty divine!

I'm intense. I use bio oil All OVER My body about once a week. I get tons of compliments from customers and other dancers about my skin. I guess bio oil must be helping.

I use those loreal oils on my face, they smell incredible. I think they're called skin renew. I use them along with my other skin care. I also randomly put bio oil on my face (make sure you have no pimples or blemishes).

I use tea tree oil on my nails/cuticles.

^You'd probably save a ton of money by just buying mineral oil instead of bio oil. You could make your own at home using mineral oil plus a few essential oils / vitamins (buy in capsules and squeeze into mix).

So far I haven't found anything better to replace Argan. I'm thinking about making my own oily lotion with Argan, cocoa butter, mild amounts of seaweed, and some sort of lotion. I will update!

Emu. Idk if you're vegan, but if not it's incredibly rich and hydrating and penetrates the skin deeper than almost any other oil.it can also help carry your other oils and skin creams deeper into the skin. It's ph balanced for the skin and everything too.
I also use rose hip for scarring

I don't really consume animal or bird products. Occasional dairy but I'm trying to give that up, and occasional seafood. Otherwise I'd try it. I keep hearing it's the richest oil. I might try and add rose hip to my concoction though!

As a general rule, anything that isn't liquid at room temperature can clog pores.

If we break down oils into their fatty acid constituents, it seems like linoleic acid is essential for skin health (Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2835908/)

On the other end, oleic acid (found primarily in olive oil) is one of the most irritating acids (Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20650257)

Some oils that are high in the good stuff are safflower, grapeseed, rosehip, hemp, walnut, and primrose (my choice for the face & body - it contains a whopping 70-77% linoleic acid, and only has 5-11% oleic acid. I use this one: http://www.nowfoods.com/Evening-Primrose-Oil-4oz.htm.)

If you have areas that require a little more moisturization/skin barrier protection (notoriously dry areas like elbows or knees, or scars) then butters are great for occlusivity. Murumuru butter is my personal favorite (it contains 47% lauric acid, the main acid in coconut oil which makes it anti-inflammatory & soothing. It also only contains 12% oleic acid.)
