Mind Blowing Do you use your face and voice for other businesses online?

First, I am at a loss as to what keywords to search, so if someone cleverer than me can redirect me to an existing thread, please do!

I need some perspective on using my face both for adult business and mainstream business, and I hope someone will be willing to share their experience.

I am hesitant to do anything besides Streamate private and exclusive shows; I don't do Gold Shows, and I'm allergic to any site with policies that increase the chance of me being recorded in the act. This is because I have a mainstream online business, and I'm convinced it's necessary to show my face and do demo videos, etc. to make it a success.

This other "business" is my passion, and even though it makes me no money, has made me no money for years... I can't see doing it privately as a hobby. I feel like I need an audience. I want to use my face and voice!

This fact makes me cautious about what I'll do on cam. It's not about _not_ getting recorded; my free chat is already out there and I know it's likely more will get recorded. It's about decreasing that likelihood the best I can, and keeping anything "shocking" from the eyes of my non-cam audience.

At times I feel like I'm crippling one business for another, already crippled one.

Have you had customers from one business recognize you in the other?
Am I making a mountain out of a molehill?
What is the worst that can happen if someone recognizes me, and what is the likelihood of that catastrophic event coming to pass?

Your thoughts on this matter are welcome.

Erm SM records ALL your shows. Next to token sites, SM is THE most likely place you'll find your stuff shared from :/ i use my voice in other work and although it is pretty distinctive ive never had anyone recognise me. I wouldn't use my face in anything though, think that's just asking for trouble!

I also have an online presence with another vanilla business.
I have chosen to not show my face on cam. Just my nose to chin is all.
After having 3 stalkers from cam, and other people coming into my chat rooms announcing my real name, that was enough for me.
It hasn't affected my money on cam at all.
I figured, most custies never show their face, so what's the big deal?
In fact, I think it has added to my 'mystique', and mystery.
I make way more now than I ever did.

AngelicaFox you sound just like me lol. I also have an online presence with my vanilla passion. And I was discovered once because I didn't think through everything before I started camming. After a long break I came back, re-did all of my profiles and now I don't show any identifying attributes. I never use any of the same images either that I use for my vanilla work as I do my cam stuff. (you def have to be careful with that) As for your passion... if you are passionate about it, it will speak for itself, and alot of people don't care what background is behind your craft. I actually follow an amazing artist on IG who makes it no secret that she is also one hell of a sex worker, I actually can't wait to buy one of her pieces. Even if I was the squarest person in the world, I would still support her in her vanilla endeavors cause hell I like it lol

This is a great thread, because there have recently been conversations on here about selling items on eBay/Amazon FBA/Etsy, etc. I feel that, as a cam girl, it's a good idea to NOT provide cam site members with links to things like your eBay/Amazon/Etsy store, no matter how tempting it may be for you to spread the word to your "fans." Cam site members are guys who you do not want knowing your address. If you're selling on one of those sites, buyers have access to your address. I'm not sure how that would work with Amazon FBA, since your items for sale are actually shipped to the buyer from an Amazon warehouse (I still wouldn't risk posting your link for cam site members to see).

As for using your voice...let's say you wanted to try making money on Fiverr doing singing telegrams (like an audio clip of you wishing someone a happy birthday by singing). I think something like this would super cool, and wouldn't require you to ever show your face. I'm not sure if Fiverr requires you to have a profile photo of your face (I'd hope not).

And then there are YouTube videos...if you're making YouTube videos showing your face (unless you're doing, say, one of those ASMR relaxation videos of finger tapping/whispering/etc. which doesn't require you to show your face anyway) and it's for something NON-adult industry related...you may have some viewers posting things in the comment section like "Hey, that girl is ____ from Streamate! That girl can deep throat like there's no tomorrow!" Then you'd have to deal with removing comments like that...unless you don't mind YouTube members commenting on your adult work.

I have a youtube channel and a website for my non adult stuff. Voice over stuff and my creative stuff too. And so far so good. Like others have said use different pictures. Like all new pics. I also went as far as to use a different hosting company for the website. Some people have too much time on their hands and can get super nosy. I'm not too worried about people making a connection beyond that. If its something you love then go for it. My non adult stuff show cases my artistic and creative side. So I can't really imagine any of my followers to get turned off if they also knew I was a camgirl. I just remembered something, two days ago I accidentally outed myself at Target. I was in the makeup section and struck up a convo with this random girl there. We started talking about products that had run out and matte stuff blah blah blah. I pointed to a lip color that I said was awesome.

She says "Really? No offense but that color looks really bright for your skin tone"

Me: Yea it is but when I'm streaming it looks awesome. My lighting calms it down

She goes "Are you a camgirl or a youtuber?"

I said well it depends which one are you?

As it turns out she's both just like me. Lots of people are creating their jobs and taking on unconventional methods to get ahead. Also I think it really just depends on who your target audience is. If your vanilla business is geared toward women then I think you may have less of a chance of being connected. If someone connects me then I'm just gonna keep it moving. I don't think its a good idea to let fear rule your life.

To add to this I actually found my best regular so far on a vanilla site lol. It was random as hell. But I was doing some voice over work for him and it turned into a GFE type of thing, he keeps my wallet very happy and doesn't even know that I'm a camgirl. I'm not going to tell him because one, I don't want to cross business (even if its bringing vanilla custies into you adult work you should do it wisely) ,2: I think it heightens his interests because he thinks that I'm doing something naughty just for him that I've never done before and 3: some GFE guys can get turned off if you introduce the idea that he is just one of many that shares in the experience lol. Def a custie I don't wanna lose, he spends $100's a week and the majority of the time all he wants is to hear about my day while getting off to the sound of my voice. Even though your vanilla and x rated jobs might be completely different use them to your advantage. Dealing with cam guys gave me the confidence to use my finesse and turn a vanilla into a potential sugar daddy.

This is perfect this is what I am currently doing and really enjoying it. Took me a few years to find a way that I can build a mainstream business still cam and even do porn shoots whenever I choose to. I found it in affiliate marketing and network marketing. The bonus was finding a network marketing company that I can work with that doesn't give too shits about me being a former sex worker (camgirl, amateur porn chick)

Being already out there and branding myself and selling product in this case the product being me has giving me a slight edge on others who are just new and starting out in network marketing or affiliate marketing and want to brand themselves on the internet. That hurdle of being out there has already been jumped and that is how you have to look at it.

It doesn't matter what shows you choose to do on streamate your images, profile and live feed is owned by streamate it also goes with other websites too plus also they can be used by any of the whiltelabels associated with streamate they are public domain when you go live that is part of being a webcam performer.
You literally become a micro-celebrity in a blink of an eye once your account is created.

For example my images were used in the affiliate ebony banners for streamate I didn't know for years until I stumbled on them when I visited a camgirl colleagues website. I was happy and shocked all the same time. Then I used that banner to my advantage while being an affiliate for streamate.

With your vanilla/mainstream business you have to determine your target audience and only focus on that audience. If you present your mainstream business correctly to your target audience they are not going to care what you have done in the past. Because you are business owner and you have to act like one.
If your mainstream business is your passion like you say it is then you need to find away to keep doing it and also make money in it. If you are not making money you have a hobby - you need to be able to turn that hobby into income.

My mainstream internet business is making me money and it will be what I retire to when I am done being a camgirl. the tough part right now is balancing both of them but in the end results will be so worth it.

You can not control your camming audience that is controlled by the websites you choose to work with. When you are working cam you need to keep that focus strictly on camming and your target audience you have built or will be building. They don't care what you do outside of camming they want to know what you will be providing them when you are online for them. As for your mainstream audience even if there is a chance they might be on your cam and if they decide to bring it up in both worlds they really are not your target audience for whatever you are choosing to do. Your true target audience is not going to care all, they are only going to care about is when they contact you for your service that they are going to get it.

Yes you are freaking out over something you have no control over. You need to focus on building the business and life you want to have because you deserve it. This is coming from something I am learning from the book four agreements. That the message of being a sex worker means you are horrible person and don't deserve good things in life. Well If I still believed that I wouldn't posting this message to you right now and if I still believed it I wouldn't be building my mainstream internet business. Because I do not agree with what society claims we should be I am changing those rules. and standing up for them

You have to change the rules for yourself whatever negative message you are having that is conflicting you from working both businesses you need to stop it and focus on your bigger goal. Most businesses do not start from nothing anymore. They take hard work and dedication and seed money from some where so if you have to use camming to building your passion business then do it.

The worst thing that could happen if someone recognizes you in your mainstream business is that they won't buy from you no different then someone in your cam room not buying from you. and I am pretty sure you move on to the next person and live your life.

When you become a business owner you call the shots you are in charge. You determine your target audience, what you are selling and who you are going to work with it.
this is not being an employee for someone where you are under their rules and morals and have to follow them because you are want the scraps of money they give you because they have to pay at minimum wage and maybe a salary if they feel like your worth it. When you run your own business you determine your worth and your value.

Lots of good advice here, and much to think about. Thank you for all the thoughtful responses.

I'm gonna have to let this percolate.

@PhatGirl, I WISH that would happen to me! Man, it sucks not being able to casually talk about work like a normal person, and I often find myself looking at other women and wondering whether they cam. Maybe if I finally make my "SPH FTW" t-shirt and wear it to the grocery store...

That is AWESOME. Did you used to show your face on cam and then switched?

A few months ago, I thought I had to be clean-shaven, made-up, and dressed in only bra and panties to go on cam. I took a break and decided to come back completely unshaven and with no makeup, and I got so much love for it! (For hairy armpits!) Then I wanted to take more time stripping, so I added more clothes... I'm fully clothed in free chat now, and I do just as well as before. Also, I seem to get more respectful customers.

I would really like to not show my face on cam, but it doesn't seem feasible. Just like not shaving didn't seem feasible a few months ago.

Currently I live in Florida. Moving up north as soon as the house is done. You can't throw a rock in Florida without hitting a stripper, an escort, a pornstar, or a PSO/ camgirl who may have done all of the above. In some areas its just part of the culture.
