I'm both a stripper and competitive pole dancer. The 18 months I spent away from stripping were spent training 3-5 days a week either at home or in class and almost none of that training makes me a better stripper.
If you've NEVER danced before in your life(I hadn't) take a couple of intro to pole classes and I say this because those will at least teach you how to move around the pole. They'll teach you how to grip the pole, how to walk around it,how to pirouette and a couple of basic spins. That is more then enough to get you comfortable for an audition. Everything after that, you can learn on the job.
I know at least 75-80 tricks by now and during a regular shift, i usually use about 3 of them. If a bachelorette party comes in or I feel like showing off for a bunch of obnoxious guys, i throw in 4 or 5 more. Basically you'll wasting money for stuff you can learn in the club.
Now if you don't like the gym and want to stay in shape, or just happen to want to learn tricks for the hell of it then take more classes but don't expect to use any of what you learn beyond the basics in the club.
If you really really want to learn how to work the stage, google or facebook Lux ATL. Shes a former top stripper in ATL who now does workshops, camps and online classes. Shes fucking hot and a totally awesome person.
