Today was my first attempt at actually running, and outdoors. So far the only cardio I have been doing is Esther Gokhale's 'glidewalking' on the treadmill at the gym for an hour after my pilates classes and I wanted to start bumping it up so I can increase my natural energy levels. Let's just say it was very humbling. I was using an ap that has you walk for 90 seconds then run for 60 seconds 6 times.........I couldn't complete it. I ran for the first 4 running sections then walked for the last 2 and I was walking sloooooooooow. Like those 4 min killed me. And I was under the impression that the program I was using would have me start off at this lowest level and then stay there for a bit before they increased the intensity---but they're increasing it after the first day! I literally can't. I think I'm going to have to do the Day 1 run for a week, then the Day 2 run for another week, then the Day 3 for another week....etc.

As much as I dislike doing cardio I love how the body feels immediately after, when your circulation is going like crazy. I'm going to really need to rethink my sports bra situation too.

HIIT cardio is the best! I mean, as best as cardio can get lol.

If you can't complete a work out, that means you've fulfilled the purpose of cardio.

I also hate cardio but love how high I feel after. I should have done some today, but I have major DOMS from leg day two days ago and used it as an excuse. Cardio is so hard to get motivated for.

^^Good point, I think once I build up my energy levels(like to where a few minutes of running doesn't kill me) I'm going to--rather than focus on running for longer and longer--focus on running faster and faster. I don't like long, drawn out workouts because I feel like if I can keep going for forever then it must not be very challenging. Plus I don't have time to workout more than like 2 hours a day. Good news though, I redid the cycle I did last time and I got completely through it and I didn't feel like death at the end, granted I was jogging rather than full-out running, but it's still a personal triumph lol.

Also I went to a pilates class today that wasn't with my favorite torture lady and I was disappointed with how easy it was. I did a pilates workout at home on Wednesday, I just improvise and take the stuff from class that I can do at home with the equipment I have, and I kicked my butt way better than the lady today. I think to save time and money I'm going to only go the 2 days a week with the torture lady and then for my third pilates day I'll just do it at home myself.

Oh and wearing a normal bra under a sports bra really seemed to do the trick for big boob running.

^^^ I know a sports bra fits me when I feel like I'm dislocating my shoulder taking it off LOL.

I usually just buy a cup size smaller for sports bras.

On Tuesday night I was experimenting with a couple new exercises that were supposed to help me use muscles that I normally under-use and I guess it worked. The maybe 20 minutes total I did of that has had me sore ever since, today is the first day since I'm not super sore. You better believe I'm incorporating what I did that night into my normal routine.

This is good. I noticed when I am doing something that uses under-used muscles my injuries act up but overall I'm glad I got some extra motion out of my body.

So I have been running regularly and I really like it. I definitely prefer running and sprinting to jogging, when I jog I feel very clumsy and I feel it in my joints as opposed to feeling my muscles work and propel me along when I pick up the cadence. I usually run every couple days but I'm going to try to do it more often because it really makes me feel good, I also want to start doing it first thing in the morning too instead of towards the end of the day because it's so energizing, I feel like it would make sense to start the day off with it.

I workout at home to exercise DVDs. I also love to walk 3 times a week when Spring comes around and keep that up until it gets to be Winter. I think classic exercises work the best for me, such as squats, lunges, sit-ups, push-ups, and hand weights to keep toned up. My videos are all different, but all have some classic exercise in them. My fitness DVDs by CRUNCH are great and so is the 30-Day Butt Lift DVD by BeFit.
    Amazon sells these videos.

Okay fuck what I said about wanting to run every day. I did an upper body and core workout the day-before-yesterday and I am so sore today. I was sore yesterday but it's the 36-48 hour period after the workout that is when I feel the sorest, no way I am doing anything today. Plus I tried to do my lower body workout after my run yesterday and my body was like 'Nope,' so I guess no running on leg day. I'm really happy though because I feel the workout I did the other day in areas that I never felt the pilates in, like my lats and lower abs are super sore and I don't ever remember pilates making them sore.

Recovery is just as important as the workout itself. You're kicking ass!

^^I always think that I don't really need recovery or anything because I'm out-of-shape so my workouts aren't what some people would consider to be extremely challenging, but I guess that I forget that that's all relative and that to my body what I do IS extremely challenging for my fitness level.

I do cardio straight AFTER leg/lower body workout sometimes, maybe you could try that way around.

I find it best this way as if I wanted to do a run or spin the day after or even two days after a leg session, my legs are too sore to do it properly.

This way, my legs feel a bit shaky as I begin the cardio but they hold up fine as no DOMS soreness has kicked in yet.

^^^Same here. When I do dedicated cardio--which is rare--I'll do it after I lift. My muscles are warmed up, and I have no soreness yet.

I'm a big fan of easing into a hardcore routine, and if I take a break for vacation or whatever, I don't kill myself at the gym the following week but rather let my muscles relax if I have bad DOMS. Since my goals are long-term and see fitness as a lifestyle rather than a quick fix, I don't feel the need to apologize for taking days off when I don't feel up to it physically or mentally. I just make sure I'm honest with myself about the reasons.

    ^^^Whatever works.

Now that I have more weight on my bar I'm going to have to start working out outside, I don't want to destroy my floor plus I already have to pull a lot of my crystals off their displays and lay them down so they don't get knocked down by the floor shaking which is annoying. I'm just not sure where to do it, I can't do it on the soft and uneven grass and if I do it on the asphalt I might actually destroy it. Although I have bumper plates so maybe not.

Yup. If your body is naturally more willowy and thin and you don't put on fat/muscle (especially if you don't put meat on your butt specifically) easily then squats will tone the ass but won't give you a donk if you aren't pre disposed to that. Just not gunna happen.
Now if you have a big meaty butt already then squats will lift and tone it I'm sure. But I hate when ppl act like you can go from pancake to kardashian by squatting up and down. Like if your ass isn't big then you're just lazy or something lol. All these insta fitness models

^^I completely agree. There's a girl on instagram whose results I like, she has a big ass that she got from years of bulking and lifting heavy and she always bashes women who go out and get fake asses instead of going her route. The thing is though, she seems to forget that it's the fact that she's genetically predisposed to gaining weight in her ass that is the main reason for her donkey. If she tended to gain weight mostly in her stomach or arms etc. her results would look very different.
