    Default Microbiome and Sex Work

I'm curious as to how much of an effect clients and sex workers have on each others microbiomes.

I mean during a lap dance their can be alot of physical contact, your also sharing air in close proximity, so alot of bacteria can transferred.

And strippers share a pole alot.

Not all transfer bacteria are bad, some can improve health.

So I'm thinking of taking probiotics, especially Lactobacillus, which is good many things, including protecting virginas, my microbiome is healthier and any transfer more positive. Lactobacillus can be found in the mouth, vagina, intestines, and semen, and its really important for your health.

Still I think a study should be done, not just the bad parts of the microbiome, but the good parts too, and how microbiomes interact in the sex industry.

Yes, that happens. I took a micro bacteriology course and was sick for most of it. Airborne illness is a thing. So is bacteria getting on something and then getting on you or vice versa. But this would only be bad if one or the other was sick with something. You can also be sick and not know it. Probiotics are always a good idea and I'd prob be dead without them.

Vitamin c. Live and eat in ways that boost immunity and think positive.

Also the benefits of having fewer higher paying customers means less likelihood of airborne illnesses like colds, etc.

I've gotten colds several times from going to a stripclub. It was worth it every time :p

^Truth. I'm around environments (schools, corporate, computer terminals (keyboards are like toilet seats)) where there are often a lot of people and germs exchanged. This comes down to 2 proven techniques:

    1. Citrus. It's a source of vitamin C. Eat a variety. Or drink it or take supplements. But there are dozens of varieties a citrus at the produce market. Branch out, eat a little of them.

    2. Wash you hands with soap & water and hand sanitizer when you cannot wash. And never put unwashed hands in or near your mouth.

I actually wash my hands in the club in between dancers. No, srsly, I do. I also brush my teeth, floss, and use mouthwash just prior to coming it. Again, it cuts down on it.

Yeah, strippers get sick a lot. As well as practicing good hygiene to stop the spread of germs it's also important to eat properly (especially vegetables and fruit) and drink enough water. Also remember to limit or completely avoid drugs, cigarettes and alcohol (more than 3 standard drinks a day weakens your immune system)

This is right up my alley of grad school research. Not sure how to approach my mentor about researching though. "Hey while we are working on the mice intestine, let's go ahead and collect some stool samples from strippers and their customers. Oh don't worry. I can pick it up. I'm at the club alot anyway." LOL

TMI- I got ringworm from one club & the same club was DECIMATED by this past flu season, even though the place was cleaner than most that I have worked at.

In short, any gathering place is crawling with grossness. County jails, daycares, schools tend to be gross places.

I always say if you're a germaphobe, you shouldn't work in a strip club. Nonetheless, I wash and sanitize my hands a lot.

Actually that can back fire, because killing off the more fragile good microbes can make room for the bad ones, plus you lose the protection given by the good ones. Ideally they should create probiotoc wipes.
