Default Pursue a dead end career?

I put in 2 years into a IT career that I do not want to make a career out of. But held to strict contracts, got to do it regardless (and for another year...)

If I pursue it all the way, I can make 60 to 80k in 1 year from now. Now I got to get my head straight and get some certs and all, but... I was thinking... If I put my dream career on hold to make good money... I think it would be wiser. My dream career won't pay that much until 8 years later (medical field). I really do not want to be a broke college student.

The field I am in, I already broken a lot of barrier entries to a good salary. I can do college part time.

I guess what I am saying, should I pursue a career that I know I will ultimately leave, for money sake?

Can you keep that job while in medical school? If you can then yes stick it out for another year so you get that better salary and can live comfortably while going to medical school. Plus you have a contract forcing you to do it for another year anyway so might as well. It could also be Plan B in case the medical field doesn't work out.

Money is always good as long as it doesn't suck up too much of your time. If you can, do it.

    Weekly earning target: $1000
Saving for: school, traveling, rainy day fund

If it's something you don't hate and can do while in college, I say stick with it and build a nest egg... Pay off student loans... Get rid of any debt... It will help you down the road. Being a broke fulltime college student DOES suck, kudos to you for having a great job and doing it on your time

People change careers so often now that it shouldn't affect you at all
