Default 7'' with strap to 8'' without strap- good or bad idea?

I currently dance in 7'' heels with an ankle strap. Was thinking of purchasing 8'' ones without the strap, but not sure if that would be difficult to adjust to/walk in. Just wondering if anyone has found adding an inch and losing the strap caused them difficulties in the past. Thoughts, suggestions, opinions all welcome

I actually have found that I feel more stable the higher the shoe, maybe because of the weight of the heel and the weight distribution of my body. I think you'll be fine without the ankle strap, just be really careful not to lose your shoe when you do pole work (that happened to me once >_> super embarrassing, my shoe went flying out stage left)

It will take your feet a little bit to get used to having all the extra weight only on the front part of the shoe. I do have a pair of 8" mules that I now love, but I would bring another shoe for your first few times wearing them in case you need to swap part way through your shift in case your feet get really tired.

Switching from 5,6,7" doesn't feel much different but between 7, to 8-10 it feels like the shoes gain 1/2 a lb for every inch.

eeeek! I've always had 7.5 in with straps. A customer bought me a pair of 8 in no straps, and I tried to wear them around the house and I fell like every few steps. Every now and then I'll put them on and try again, but every time I fall. Hurt my ankle kinda bad once. Strapless and me don't mix but obviously other girls can do it..

I hate the shoes with ankle straps. IDK if this input is useful but I had zero problems going from 7" strapless with the double plastics going over the top of your foot style to 8" with a single plastic over the foot style. Just make sure you step up that extra inch when going up stairs. Face planting is never good.

In the end I've gone back to the 7 inchers but only because that extra inch was the breaking point of making me feel too tall.

I find strapless easier to walk in because it gives my ankles and arches more mobility. If you're nervous about losing the strap, you could try it with 7" first.

Are you tiny? Maybe it has to do with our height and weight. I can ONLY wear 7.5 inches with straps. I've tried the mules, in 6 inches, in 7 inches and it's just uncomfortable. I don't feel safe. I have also tried 8 inches and I can not even dance in them. Same thing as you, I kept falling and couldn't even walk. I've been dancing for a while and every time I have a great idea to try a new shoe, it dsnt work it. I gotta stick to what I feel safe and sexy in.

I only recently switched from heels with ankle straps to heels with double straps, and I. LOVE. THEM. As far as the heel hight, I have worn 6"-8" heels, and I prefer 7" because I find the 6" uncomfortable and the 8" a little difficult to dance in.

Im doing 8's and 9's with straps. I'd never wear them without. I'm 5'1 so a long way to come down.

I never wear shoes without an ankle strap. Everytime I try them without I flail around like a helpless unicorn: pretty but sad and probably going to end in pain. You can buy clear removeable straps which WORK AMAZINGLY! When I worked in a sex store dancers always complained about how they felt weird BUT THEY ARE WRONG I use them on all my single-strap pleasers and they stick so well and don't budge and just ugh I love them. Even if you already made up your mind I would get a pair anyway, they're seriously a life saver.
