    Default Memorization

I'm doing an insane amount of memorization for school right now. What do you use to aid in strengthening your memory?

I've been doing ginko biloba, green tea supplements, exercise, and healthy eating (nutrient-dense, lots of raw), but what else can I do?

I took a Cognitive Psychology class a while ago. Your brain retains what is most likely to be useful in the future. Repetition is the best for memorizing. Also trying to link the new material you learn with stuff you already know and your life will help you remember. Sleep also help consolidate memory, so don't neglect a good night of sleep!

I do rote memorization tactics yeah, get a lot of sleep, and basically meditate. Are there any other supplements I should take or specific foods I should be eating?

Eat fish (switch up the tuna though, mercury builds up really fast in tuna fish.) I personally love anchovies.

I memorize by using mnemonic methods (often silly sounding shit, I have a childlike brain in many ways.) Also focused visualization.

I'm actually a pescatarian so I eat a lot of fish. I am using acronyms right now which works for a lot of it but not everything. Like I have to memorize the differences, pros, cons, and compatibility with other things when it comes to each thing. I just wish there was another way!

Yeah that's the only advice any of my teachers gave. They were first like "take notes!" and soon realized I am the most detailed note taker already. So then they're like "re-write them!" and that's about the only advice they give. I think getting all As in sciences must be an inborn gift or something lol. In reality "Cs get degrees" but I still want to do the best possible.

i remind one supplement we used to take before exams. its glycine. you can get a pure vertion or take gelatin.
funny though on other languages i read different info about glycine.
    i took it from wiki:
-helps with social adaptation faster, reduce aggression
    -improves mood
    -increase brain function
    -decrease cravings for sweets
    -helps to fall asleep faster
    -etc
it is an amino acid. now im checking my collagen peptides and glycine present there 3.719 mg. so maybe you want to buy a collagen cuz it will be cheaper plus you are getting full benefit of collagen.

Oddly enough I haven't had anyone tell me this in years. I had to figure it out for organic chemistry. Finally passed the mofo on the 4th try. Definitely not my forte.

Look into phosphatydalserine. It actually has been shown to improve cognitive function in kids with ADD and people with Alzheimer's. It helps balance cortisol and allows the body to repair the hippocampus.

Chocolate. Something in the chocolate helps with memory. I would always eat a few pieces before an important test.

I've always done a lot of memorization work, and you have to find out what kind of a learner you are.im visual so I need to write it down, and then I need something to associate it with in my mind so I'll remember. Also, the human brain can only take about 30 min of constant work so don't over do it!! Take lots of breaks and go back to the things you've already memorized to cement them into long term memory.

I guess I'm mostly looking for specific food recommendations as well as supplements. I eat a lot of fish/omega 3s but maybe there's something I'm missing. I'm pushing 30 and my memory isn't as sharp as it was circa 20, and that's scary!

Teaching someone else can really help with memorization. For me, strictly writing something down over and over again won't really do much because it turns into mindless scribbling. If I actually talk out loud about what it is I need to memorize to another person it really helps. I'll also write a bunch of my own test questions and answer them a few times both physically writing them down and saying the answers out loud.

I'm also a very visual learner so it helps me when I make diagrams or draw out something else so that I can remember that visual in my head and it's easier to memorize than just a bunch of words.

And like Stacey said sleep is very helpful when it comes to memorizing. If you have time stick to memorizing just a few things a day and get a good nights sleep so your brain can absorb the information, and then pile on bit by bit each day after. You'll slowly memorize all the information and getting enough sleep will help you retain it.

Yeah I have been doing study groups with my classmates. It helps a little but only if I ask them to clarify things I don't understand and usually the teacher is good for that.

I found one more product for memory and health http://www.amazon.com/French-Maritim...A2PVZZUKZV8NVE
French Maritime Pine Bark Extract promises remarkable potential for positive health change. Considered a "Super Antioxidant", it helps protect against free radical damage. By influencing endothelial nitric oxide protection, it may promote healthy circulation. Maritime pine bark extract is believed to help regulate the immune system and modulate the body's inflammatory response. Maritime pine bark extract binds to and protects collagen and elastin, helping bring its nutritional support to the skin, arteries, organs and connective tissues. With these four important biological keys, French Maritime pine bark extract may unlock peak vitality across multiple body systems, structures and functions, delivering support for heart health, cholesterol levels, healthy blood maintenance, immunity, skin health, healthy aging and much more. French Maritime Pine Bark Extract may also improve memory and joint flexibility. Studies have shown strongest effects start to occur after 30-60 days of non-interrupted usage.

I've become extremely health conscious recently so thanks for this! Eating nutrient dense foods is so important due to a lot of nutrients that you would not get otherwise even aside from the typical added vitamins put into fortified processed foods. I am basically done with most processed things at the point. A lot of the nutrients I'm talking about are on the list in the link you provided, ty!
