Are there any escort mentors in the US? I know about escortbuddys.com in the UK but I haven't found anything US based.

An assistant could help you. I know that there are some that will take money as you start to get appointments but I think they end up robbing you in the long run and are more like an agency than anything. The best agencies are flat rate fees or a percentage and they cap it at $400-500/week.
This website has LOADS of information on it and most of it is still up to date.

Beware- in most US states a provable trail of explicit communication between you and another worker can be enough to get charges against both of you, should one or both of you get arrested
With the Internet being omnipresent, there is no reason to be unable to wing it alone. Just saying.
I think it depends on the assistant. Some have a shitload of clients on their mailing list which is awesome for a first time lady especially when busy. I dropped my assistant eventually, even though she was a godsend, but because I screwed up as a flaky newbie it reflected in my percentage of clients.
Oops. I totally meant to say "the best assistants" and not agencies. Maybe a freudianish slip because I do think some assistants act more like agencies than mere assistants/consultants.

I would highly recommend checking out the website HowToBecomeAnEscort.net. Its packed with loads of free information by a former escort herself. I believe she has a section on her website where she gives information on getting a private consultation...but it's not with her, it's with another former escort friend of hers (who offers private consultations to girls interested in becoming escorts). It's not free, but it might be worth it.

I love theescortbuddies.com idea. No knowledge of any sites like this existing for North America.
Personally, I found this forum very helpful when I started out.
Hi ladies! New on the board here but experienced escort. Before I started I read everything I could on here, Tumblr, etc. a few years back but I was still scared and confused about logistics. I actually ended up starting with a friend who was established that showed me the ropes and then I joined an agency for my first few months. The agency sucked but it gave me time to get more comfortable and I felt safer knowing I had a safety check in and my clients were screened and consistent. Fortunately I was able to go independent within a month or two and that has made all the difference.

I don't know of anything like escortbuddys, but joining forums like this is a start. The ladies only boards on escort/client forums can be of some help. Or check out the twitter pages of other escorts and follow, follow, follow! Many don't mind answering quick questions if they arent too invasive.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, you need a great female booker with industry experience.
