    Default Knees: permanent damage? Owwww

Hello ladies! I have been dancing about 7 months now (not counting my peep show days with a nice cushy carpet). I know this job will trash your knees... but I am wondering if it is possible to get permanent bony re-modeling... that knob of bone that the knee-cap tendon attaches to, the top of the tibia (shin bone)... just seems to keep getting knobbier and knobbier on me. Some of it seems to be bruising and swelling, but when that goes down, I can't tell if it is just calloused skin or if the bone is actually getting bigger. Probably no-one else notices but me, but I don't think it's attractive.

Also, please ignore the non-shaved legs in the pic. It's my day off, damn it

I know I should try harder not to do floor work, or grind on my knees on the bar... but I just get so into the music! I bought some knee pads but even the low-profile ones look bulky.

Ideas? Just stop dancing so damn hard? Maybe I need to start playing music I don't care about so I don't get as into it

    Will this disappear someday?

I will save the post about my poor low back for another day...

Stay off your knees is the only solution. Be conscious of it or suffer the consequences.

Thank you. Yeah I did a pretty good job last night of staying off of them, right up until my last set when I was so tired I forgot. I think just practicing staying off of them, it will eventually become good habit. Also learning how to put more weight in my arms when in a doggy-style-ish floor work positions. Free style needs to not be quite so free or I am gonna break myself! Also, the guys don't know the difference and the $$ will be the same, so why hurt myself just because it's fun to dance hard? learning

    thanks again!

Yeah I didn't want to be the bearer of bad news here but if you are having this much trouble with your knees you need to wear thigh high boots with socks & pad your knees. My knees are trashed. They got better after a 3 year retirement period but some of that damage is unfixable..

be very selective when to get on your knees. i only go the extra mile when there are good tippers. i totally became one of those 'walk around the pole' dancers, and i used to be wayy into the dancing part of the job. but we are all getting 'old' (or rather worn out) and i want to live a long life with good knees. so fuck floor work.

I could never understand how some of these ladies twerk (on their knees) and not feel anything. I'm talking putting all their body weight on their knees and constantly bouncing up and down, like wtf?

My knees would look like I got attacked by tonya Harding all bruised doing same twerking moves on hands and knees. And whenever I'd walk up or down steps I could hear my knees cracking.

Well I don't want to fuck myself up permanently, or be some 60 year old lady getting knee replacement surgery cause of some dumb twerking for some lame cutomers - who barely tip at stage anyways, so I do whatever means necessary to stay off my knees.

I have permanent knee damage from 7 years of stripping. Not terrible, but no more running a 10k for me.

Stay off your knees as much as you can.

I've been out of stripping about 4 years now and while much of the damage was repaired I still have permanent chronic pain and cracking/locking of my knees from the heels and floor work.

    I repeat-Stay. Off. Your. Knees.

You all are wonderful!! Thank you!! I will be good today!! My goal: no new knee bruises today. Second goal: get thigh high boots. I bought knee pads but they look silly unless they are covered.

I danced for 8 years and my knees still ache now (7 years after quitting) so be gentle on your knees. I take glucosamine supplements which really help. Xx

I'd recommend buying shoes that have a larger surface area so you aren't walking around on your tippie-toes for 4-8 hours at a time.

I mention these shoes all of the time. Yeah, they aren't the sexiest. But they'll allow you to dance and walk much more sex-ily and will also help your knees: http://www.lingeriediva.com/lingerie...-5-heel-sandal

They come in white, red, and black.

Might have to get me some of those, Charlie. I wonder if the cone heel would also help: http://www.amazon.com/Pleaser-Womens...t-video&sr=8-4

It's less about the heel and more about the shoe's total surface area that touches the floor + the drop between the heel and the platform. Just my experience.
