Default STILL trying to get body rub business up and running!

I think I was last on here asking about body rubs back in early 2013! lol.

Well, I'm back. I dropped the whole idea for all this time due to changes (good ones) to my financial situation, but now due to more changes (not so good ones), I'm considering it again.

But the same issues remain that I had before - nowhere to work.

I have been applying for COUNTLESS jobs at already established massage parlours, as in my particular case, if I can work only part time (NO full time for me, doing this job. I'd go insane), I'd be ok with it I think, even though yes, they take half your income. It'd be worth it for me for the relative safety, screening, potentially more stable stream of customers, and a place to actually work that's not a hotel or my own private home. I don't need a LOT of money anyway.

Also, the way I see it, if after a while I accumulated some regular trusted customers, I WOULD then switch to indy and work from my home. I am moving soon and have a proper spare room with space for a massage table and it's the first room in the apartment so the customers would see nothing else. It also has a bathroom connected to it so they can shower, etc. I am just SO not wanting to have any men know where I live (unless as I said, they're trusted regulars) and although it's a high rise complex and I'll be one of 120 apartments, they would still be able to work out which one is me. I can't literally blindfold them until they get inside!! (can I? lol) I would so hate to be sleeping at 3am and have some weirdo buzzing me and my partner.

But sadly, NOT ONE of these massage places ever gets back to me about these jobs. I'm not talking about anything in my responses to their advertisements that they may view as suspicious or LE. They just don't reply. I guess they have too many other girls applying, same as all the other "normal" jobs around here.

I was looking today at small (like tiny) office rentals, but it's just all too expensive around here. The cheapest one was $10 an hour but you had to commit to a minimum of 5 hours a day, and I can't do that. Most were around $200-$300 a week.

Then I looked at tiny rental apartments and that was even worse. Most were $250-$400 a week.

THEN I looked at sharing an apartment, but I don't think that'd work very well. A poor Japanese student seeking a housemate who then doesn't live there and only keeps a massage table set up in her room and leads strange men in there sometimes? Ah...yeah. lol.

THEN I was looking at hotels, and I went on Priceline and put in say, next Tuesday. Cheapest one was a not so nice place for $90. Check in after 2pm, check out 10am. I can only work from 10am until 5pm so that doesn't really give me much time, does it? Paying $90 to only be able to take customers for 3 hours? Hmmm.

I might try to put an advertisement out looking for any girls who might want to rent a small 2 tiny room office nearby to use...but then I worry about flakes. Girls skipping out and disappearing and leaving me with rent I can't pay and a lease I'd have to pay thousands to break.

Around here, the classifieds places are absolutely FLOODED with ads from indy girls offering body rubs for $20. I mean...come on, ladies. Why price yourself so low!? I want $100 for mine but who's gonna come to me when they can get the same for $20, and then there are other girls who offer full service for $50 an hour. COME ON!!!!!!!!!

    Ok...vent session over. lol.

Yes, there are start up costs, (no matter what business you start, even vanilla ones... LOL) Can you find someone to 'team up' with? Another lady starting out, or better yet established? Sharing a small in-call apt has worked for a few ladies in my area. Lugging a massage table to a hotel certainly will draw attention, wouldn't do that even if I were a licensed masseuse.

Maybe try a city further away? Like an hour to ninety minutes away? I'd do that if I were you even if there were places to work near by, just to avoid running into anyone I know. You can do out call-homes and hotels, so you don't have to travel with a table. I'd really try stripping before doing something illegal. It doesn't sound like you're in a position to cam, otherwise I'd suggest that. Best of luck.

There are a lot of girls that use their home for work - i'm talking mothers w/ kids and no weirdo is buzzing their doors.

I think it's safe to say that most fbsm girls use their homes. I can count the girls that have a second place to work in on one hand. You HAVE TO know how to screen. That's the key.

If you don't screen, you will get weirdos and ultimately get arrested - so yeah screen and KNOW who you're inviting in your home.

But if you're just flat out uncomfortable with the idea, then you're uncomfortable - so let's explore other alternatives:

Hotels: FBSM guys aren't like escort guys. Escort clients will go to a hotel all day long, FBSM clients have convinced themselves that they're not "johns" and would prefer to avoid hotels at all costs. It's different if you're touring because they know you're touring and where else are you going to stay? - I know it's weird. However, if you're local, they're most likely going to request a "private residence". It just makes them feel more comfortable. It also depends on the city, in my area, it wouldn't fly. You can always post a "feeler", see what you get and make your decision that way.

Sharing an apartment: I hate to sound negative but you're going to find that a lot of girls in the sex industry have issues. It's very hard to find someone that is ... "normal". This would be the ideal option for you but tread carefully. The last thing you want is a partner that doesn't screen/has a pimp/has drug issues. It's a can of worms waiting to happen.

Rental apartment: $250-$400 a week? I would totally get it for one week and test it out if you can swing it. My work apartment costs me $900 a month ontop of $1,300 a month rent at my place.

As for girls offering $20-$50 for a bodyrub, if you focus on them, you'll lose and keep losing. There are girls from all walks in this thing. The crack ho doing everything under the sun for $60 and a big mac and the college student with a healthy vanguard account charging $200-400 an hour. At the end of the day, it's about the level of service and your packaging aka your presentation.

    I hope you're in LA?
I book for a small exclusive 'agency'. She owns 3 private massage studios that you would rent out to yourself for 150 a week if you can't have your own incall location. Working 3-4 days a week and you could pick day or night shifts. I make sure people are making at least 5+ bookings a day (normally a 5-8hr day). It's very private and the manager (all female ran) interviews each person to make sure everyone is mentally stable and has good work ethic. We also have a blacklist we update weekly.
    MSG me if you're interested.

No, dammit, I'm in Australia! lol. I honestly think it's harder to do things like this here for some reason.

Hmm, 90 minutes away would be a capital city (I'm in a sort of tourist area but still one of the biggest 5-6 cities in the country) but as I don't drive it'd take me 2.5 hours each way to get there. No way is this practical. Otherwise, YES! Because there'd likely be more options. I actually don't care if I see anyone I know by working near to where I live, because frankly, I don't really know many people. lol. I'm originally from another state and most of my friends and all my family are there. I do know people here, but most don't live near me.

As far as renting an apartment for however much for just one week to try it out, no can do because the leases here are for 6-12 months. And if you sign it, then it doesn't work out, there are big financial problems that would become my responsibility.

In terms of working from my own home, this IS what I would ideally prefer. I am not working at the moment (hence why I'm trying to do this again after so long) so I could take short notice calls no problem, whereas before I worked 20-30 hours a week so it was awkward. I could basically do from 10am til 4pm four days a week (the other three days I'm not alone so can't do anything). My partner knows about this by the way, but obviously I don't want anyone coming (literally, heh) when she's there.

Finally, in terms of screening...this is my biggest issue. HOW on EARTH do I do it without making things so awkward and unpleasant and slow for the customer but still being effective for me?

In Australia all these good websites you US people use just don't work or exist.

Can you not sublease? If most places have leases for six to twelve months, I can only imagine lots of people want out sooner and are willing to sublease to avoid breaking their lease. Bonus points:someone elses' name will be on the buzzer, so a nosy customer will hit a dead end.

Hmm, sublets aren't really a "thing" around here, but I just had a look and the few private ads for them are still expensive and also most aren't anywhere near me.
