Default Lightening black hair, advice please

Hi ladies I need some advice please. My hair is dark brown and I dye it red/brown myself with a loreal Ferris dye specifically made to lighten dark hair and I love it. So I bought some new hair extensions for work they are real hair but they are jet black and I used the same dye on them but nothing happened even though on the box it show a picture of black hair being lightened. My question is how should I go about lightening them without ruining the hair as its expensive(real Indian hair). Thanks. Xx

Is it virgin hair? If not, anything could have been done to it, including chemical processing and color to get it to its' current state. Try a color remover on a SMALL portion of the extensions you can afford to snip off and, hopefully, it yields better results?

Take them to a hairdresser and have them use Olaplex as part of the lightening process...I got my dark hair to lighten 7 levels in one session because of that stuff. It might be a bit pricey but its the only way to ensure damage free hair. Also, you'll be able to use the extensions for longer.

PLEASE be careful, I know how expensive Indian hair is-which is why I hardly ever bought it. On the bright side, you'll only need to figure out how to do this once. Do you mind me asking why you didn't buy a similar color to avoid all this?

Many thanks for the replies, yes it is virgin hair and it specifically says it hasnt been chemically treated. I bought it in black as it was cheaper than colored hair (boy am i regretting that now lol!) i bought hair that has a natural wave it is really pretty i mistakenly thought it would be simple; i would dye it, dry it then be on cam looking awesome lol. xx

That really sucks, I wasn't gonna berate you just so you know-I hate when companies embellish the truth and you're stuck with hair that doesn't match
