Default Adopting- problems due to job??

Hey everyone, I'm having a bit of a worry that I will have issues with adopting because I'm a stripper. This is still a few years away but I'm one of those people that like to worry about things well in advance
Just wondering if there are any ladies on here that adopted and were happy to share their experience? Ever since I decided I wanted kids I knew I wanted to adopt at least one and all the sudden I've become real anxious thinking that it might not be possible. I dont know how easy it would be to withhold the fact that I dance, or how they go about checking all the candidates but it seems like something I wouldn't be able to hide. (personally I wouldn't want to in an effort to try and change stigma towards strippers, but I know thats probably not realistic)

I can't add anything but I would also love to read any replies to this!

I run a foundation that works with orphans. It's awesome that you've chosen adoption. You first need to decide what kind of adoption is right for you. Do you want open adoption in the US? Are you willing to adopt an older child, minority, siblings, or do you only want a baby? For the US you need to get a home study done. It's not a big deal, they will come into your home and ask you questions. Once this is done they'll give you a good idea if what kind of candidate you are for the different types of adoption. Even if you're not a good candidate for US adoption, you can adopt overseas. There will be much fewer restrictions on your job that way.

If you want more detailed answers you can send me a PM.

Thank so much! Like I said it's definitely a few years off but yeah I'm open to siblings and minorities. So the home study isn't super intense/invasive?

The cost of a home study depends on the type of adoption you choose and where you live. It could go from $1,000 to up to $2,500 in very unusual cases. Most home studies cost around $1,500. It's not intense or invasive. Someone will come to your home to interview you for about hour or two. You'll give them references of family and friends that they may call. They'll do a criminal background check. Even if you've had problems in the past that doesn't exclude you from adopting so don't worry unless you've been convicted for violent crimes. Everyone that goes through the process says it's much easier than they imagined. Most of your time is spent getting your birth certificates, marriage certificates, documentation, etc.
