Default Am I just a wimp?

I am from the US working & living in the EU. I've tried a few clubs here and keep running into issues...but I'm wondering if they're really issues or is this just how stripping really is?

    1. working 8 hours a night for at least 7 days straight is expected. (i've been bullied into working the straight week) most girls are hired from other counties and stay at apartments above or near the club. all of the girls look exhausted, dance to the same song every time, and seem strangely "close" with the male owners. ...hugging topless at the club, sleeping drunk in the bed with dancers...i've been pressured to drink hard liquor alone with the owner when i traveled long distance and had to stay at the club apartment. i got really scared and had to leave in the middle of the night. also when i said i dont drink, ive been told i have to drink when a guy takes a private...7 days of drinking is not nice.

    2. cameras in the dressing room.

    3. no DJS, just spotify or something similar.

    4. if the customer wants to buy a dancer a drink it costs him 35-45 euros per drink. very hard to sell. guys will leave when they hear this, get offended, or pay it and never come back. however, i have had one or two guys come back and not care about the money. The dancer gets about 10 to 11 euros of this.

    5. the privates are from 50-70 euros (depends on club) for 10 min no bottle. (other options with bottle available) the girl gets 30% or less . usually the guys also say this price is too much, get angry and leave, or take one but never come back. and these customers are very interested in me, are ready to pay, and have the money, but seriously feel like they are being scammed after i ask them for a 45 euro drink.

    6. i dont remember the % of a bottle dancers keep but it is maybe 30% or less

    7. there is no bouncer in the club. he is parked at the door and never seems to get involved with inside club issues even when i've asked for help.

    8. no lockers/and or dressing room/private bathroom

if the guys dont tip (which happens a lot and nothing is done about it. they are allowed to sit and watch with a beer), then the dancers have to really hustle drinks & privates. and if you manage to hit the goldmine, a night full of ten minute privates will only get you so much cash. and a bought drink from a customer guarantees them 10-15 min of your time. so i've really had to schmooze one guy for an entire night, be in constant privates and pretend to drink fake booze for 200 euros.

i love dancing, but i feel like im putting in so much time for not enough compensation. i am also new so maybe im doing it wrong? or am i just a wimp?

-any and & all advice no matter how harsh is greatly appreciated-

*what is the norm for percentages the dancer takes home from drinks and privates? ( i havent experienced having to make a "tip out" so im assuming some of the cash taken makes up for the lack of tip out)

*what is the norm for male bosses? are they usually touchy feely creepy and rude to the dancers?

    * what is the norm for a dancer schedule? how many days to work in a row before you burn out?

*how do you know when a club is bad? or good? what are the standards?...some basics a dancer should look for in every club ?

ps. i have looked through the forums for answers, and have found some...so if there are any threads that relate, please link them thanks ;-)

    no bouncer?

    forced to drink alcohol?

    forced to work 7 days?

I would work somewhere else if I were you.

Yea, it sounds really harsh there, & really hard to make $..I don't know, never having worked outside of US, but reading some of the threads from foreign clubs that are posted here, it kinda seems like that (the selling drinks part) is how many places are? At least the drink selling etc
As far as drinking, NO, I myself don't & it's really bad/hard on your body not to mention getting addicted to it.
& no to 'socializing' w/anyone from the club, especially the owner/mgr yikes what a creep.
Also, look in the Club Chat section, there's some posts about foreign clubs

i just found a post mentioning that eu clubs give out small cuts of the privates and drinks to the dancers. so maybe that part will be the same at most places.

Overall the European clubs can be more work for less money than the US clubs but a lot of what you're describing is not ok.

    1.
7 days a week is too much, but it's not uncommon for clubs to demand a 5 or 6 working days minimum especially for traveling dancers. If you can't deal with that it doesn't mean you're a wimp it just means the club tend to get away with making these demands.
My advice is to never stay at the club apartments if you can avoid it, even if other options are more expensive it means the club has less control over you and can't put you in that type of situations.
Drinking is the norm in some clubs but not others, in many clubs you can make a deal with the staff and get a non-alcoholic drink, if you are pressured to drink alcohol I'd suggest switching clubs.

    2.
Cameras in the dressing rooms are pretty common.

    3.
Not having a DJ is also pretty common, especially at the smaller clubs.

    4.
35-45 does seem like an expensive drink and if you get such a small percentage out of it I wouldn't sell those drinks unless I had to.

    5.
The price of the dance is normal (maybe a bit cheap, what country is this?) but for dancers to get only 30% or less (!) doesn't seem that normal. 40% is common, 50% happens when you're lucky, 30% seems low to me but maybe in the country you're in it's normal with 30% or less. I don't know.
If you have no choice but to sell drinks together with a dance I'd phrase it as a package, for example 100€ for a 10 min dance and drink instead of 55€ dance and 45€ drink. They don't need to know the price of the drink and 100€ for 10 min dance is not crazy expensive. The way you describe it these customers seem upset about the expensive drinks and are ready to pay for dances?

    6.
I don't know about the bottles, in some clubs you get a low % commission on drinks and bottles but you get a larger % for the dances, and in some places the bottles are so expensive that a low % still means money for you.

    7.
Some clubs and bouncers don't care about dancers' security but it's not ok and it's not a safe place to work.

    8.
To have no lockers is normal, and small clubs sometimes don't have private bathrooms for dancers, but I would definitely expect clubs to have a dressing room.

    ........

No tips on stage is normal in Europe, but I'd hustle for tips in private dances anyway (unless it's strictly against the rules) especially when you get such a low % of the dance and drinks.

*I'd say 40% for the dancer is common and 30% or less, for dances, seems pretty low. But then again, maybe in your country it's normal.

*Male bosses can be creepy and rude for sure, but there are decent ones as well and you should not work with people who make you uncomfortable.

*It's unfortunately pretty common for clubs to pressure traveling dancers to work 6+ days but it's also common that clubs accept that dancers work for example 2 or 3 days a week. In general clubs tend to try to make you work as much as possible.

*A club is good if you can make good money in it, if it's run well (follows the law) and if you feel like you're being treated fairly.

I watched a documentary about a place like that. Girls were forced to work 7 days a week and most of them lived upstairs. Sounds scary. What brings you to The EU?

I came for love :-p the girls seem okay with it? but tired? i have never stayed the full 7 days because the management and situation sucked so bad and i was too scared something would happen while i was sleeping and that i would burn out.
