    Default Thigh Exercises

What are your favorite thigh exercises to do? My thighs are my "problem" area, the one area where I start to hoard meat being pear shape (or artificially hourglass lol). It's in my DNA and I have a clone of my mother's body at this age. Not interested in lipo since fat goes elsewhere on the body, so I just want to do a lot of thigh-based exercises.

I've upped my protein intake pretty high and have been doing general cardio and strength-based training, but I want to do specific exercises (aside from squats) that tone and lean out thighs. Recommendations?

Lunges (both stationmary and walking lunges)
    Leg extension
    Leg curl
    Split squat

I always finish my weight training sessions with 30 minutes of cardio. The stair master is great for thighs and bum. You can also add weight to your ankles.

What I do for legs are squats and leg extensions but I just want to say if you are looking to get more slender looking thighs, any sort of leg/thigh exercises are not the way to go.

Any form of strength training will build muscle. My thighs look very bulky at 90lbs because of the muscle but I seem to gain a lot of muscle in my lower body much quicker than the rest.

Your thighs will look more toned, but they will fill out with muscle.

If you just want thin thighs, cut your calories and/or increase cardio.

If you want to build muscle and then cut fat, keep your calories (decently) high while you build muscle in the thighs (and glutes), and then cut back while continuing to train as hard as you can while in a caloric deficit until you've reached your desired look. You can't spot-reduce fat, and muscle doesn't simply replace fat, but having more muscle mass in your thighs can make them look more shapely (but not slim).

My favorite exercise of all time is also amazing for the lower body, particularly hamstrings and glutes: the deadlift. My favorite variations are Romanian deadlifts, and Sumo deadlifts. I also really like lunges and Bulgarian split squats.

I don't think cutting calories can magically make your thighs thin. I've had thick thighs my entire life, even when I was 9. If this were the magic formula, wouldn't Latinas, middle easterns, and black women all be walking around talking about how they only ate salads and lost inches off their thighs? Even when I literally only ate salads, my thighs were still thick. I just want to tone.

I keep my thighs a happy level of thick by using lower body weight machines 3-4x per week. Nothing super heavy -- between 60-100 pounds depending on the area. It's pretty hard for women to actually bulk up, but the muscle you do gain provides a nice slimming foundation for your fat.

    It's not magic; it's science.
Burning more calories than you take in is how weight loss works, either by eating less or doing more cardio, or both. It is simply not possible to build muscle while in a caloric defecit. If you keep to reduced calories long enough, you will lose your thigh fat, but if it's the last to come off, it'll be the last to come off. Of course it's possible. Everyone can get super lean and everyone has their problem area which is the last to go. You say you want to "tone" you have to specify what you mean: lose fat, or gain muscle. Those are your only options. If you don't want to bulk/cut, I recommend looking into body recomposition; that's another option for gaining muscle and losing fat, but progress is very slow so some find that discouraging.

I'm not pulling this out of my ass, I promise. This is what fitness professionals talk about.

    BUMP

The more exercises, the merrier. This is literally my one problem area now that I have lost overall fat. I don't want anything invasive like lipo because the fat will go elsewhere. Maybe I can look into cool sculpting though.
