Crossfingers Getting fit & starting my career

I recently decided to move back to Georgia. Along with that decision was to start dancing/stripping (whatever you'd like to call it). So I did what my boyfriend has been encouraging me to do and reached out to his cousin who is a stripper in multiple Atlanta clubs. I asked her to take me under her wing and teach me the ropes. The only thing is I won't be in Georgia until one month from now. So I decided to dedicate this time to getting fit and in shape. I am a slightly overweight, as in I have a little pudge, thick thighs (which I think are an asset) and size C cup breasts. My boyfriend rants and raves saying that she works at the high end places like the Pink Pony and that I have nothing to worry about. So I am trusting her ability to show me what to do and watch me fly. I've been in contact with her over the past couple days and I asked her where we were gonna go for my first night. I have also never been to a strip club. She said "few different ones. Gold room tng Havana. Then some old school stuff". I am not sure where or what these places are so I googled them. (There were no reviews on here or on TUSCL) I found that I didn't think they were actually strip clubs, but more like nightclubs where people go to dance instead of guys coming to pay for sexy women being naked. I am confused, is she trying to ease me in or is she not as amazing as her cousin thinks or is she not really a stripper, and maybe just a club dancer that keeps her clothes on. I don't know what to think yet I have a million thoughts. What is your take on the clubs and do you have any advice?

Get on the paleo or similar diet and bust your ass. LOTS of cardio.

I will definitely try that! Dieting is my worst enemy, I suck at resisting foods that I love. I typically slack during dinner time. But I have been doing at least 15-30 minutes of cardio a day, so I am hoping that sort of evens out my dinner time intake. What do you think?

I'd recommend setting a date and asking someone else to hold you to it. This whole dieting & exercise business is a lifetime gig, and it can result in some serious procrastination for newbies. I'd set a goal weight / look (ex: fit into ___ outfit) and a date for your audition.

And yes...cardio. Walks, hikes, elliptical. Do some light weightlifting for tone, or yoga if you have the money for it. Eat plenty of food (to avoid feeling like you're dieting), just keep it clean (vegetables, lean meats, eggs, fruits, whole grains, etc.). Water and green tea are your friends.

Keep us updated on your progress!

I exercise for at least an hour, cardio included. But when you're trying to drop serious poundage you better step up your game.

Going with what you and Tempest said I am definitely going to step my game up and start to diet seriously. I went to the store today and bought a bunch of veggies and fruits and chicken. Going to try the whole Paleo thing. Wish me luck!!

Cardio sucks so bad, I think I am going to have an asthma attack. But you're right. I gotta power through it and focus on my long term goals. Right now I try do the elliptical, I'm at a mile every 9 minutes. I think that's good time, I just need to stay on the machine for more than 20.

I can't handle working out in a fitness center....it's SO BORING. Hiking counts as cardio! If you have abundant free time, go on a few 12-mile hikes a week. Hell, even push daylight so that you have to run for part of the hike to make it back in time! So much better for mental health, too, if hiking / outdoor activity is an option.

That is a great idea!! Wow didn't even think about that. And now that the weather is getting nicer, it is totally an option. Im happy you suggested this.

Hell yeah, girl! Even when I don't feel like driving to a trailhead, sometimes I'll just walk around where I live (less nature-y, more urban-y) and lose track of time. If you live in a particularly boring area, you can put in earbuds and listen to music or an audiobook. But I'll just walk until I get a bit tired, and then walk back! It's essentially moving meditation. Or, walk by time. Set out on a four-hour walk, and when you hit the two-hour mark, start walking back.

Do you want to strip or does your BF want you to strip? I find it very odd that your BF is encouraging you to take your clothes off for money. What does he do ?

Do you go out on these walks on a daily basis? Or should it really be once or twice a week kinda thing? Definitely going to hick somewhere this weekend. We have mountain areas where I am located.

Well I considered it before I met him. Wanted to experience the life and see if the money was worth it. Sometime into our relationship he introduced me to his cousin who strips and I was intrigued. I never wanted to really try it until I saw her. Not that I want to be his cousin. I am inspired by her ability to not get involved with the negatives stripping can bring. I'm not interested in doing drugs or drinking in excess and I want to get my body in shape, which is one of my main goals. He has encouraged me to pursue this path if I really want to. He works construction and we recently signed the lease to rent a house, so I will be moving my stuff in June. Our bills aren't too much, except for my college loans. Before I even brought up that I wanted to dance he had offered me to stay home and take care of the house and our dogs if I wanted to, but I want my own income as well and it will help in the long run. I understand your concern, and I truly appreciate it. I really don't think he is taking advantage of me or pushing me in a direction I shouldn't be in. I want to do this for me, for my confidence and my own pockets. Yeah he would benefit from our bills being paid faster but he has already agreed to continue working and I'm not giving him the opportunity to stop.

    Herkittykatsmeow,
Hi there, my name's T and we're in the same boat. I'm im the beginning of my process of becoming a stripper, I'm in Southern California though. My plan is to diet and exercise to get down to my ideal weight before I start, but I'm including pole dancing classes in my exercise plan. I found a place that teaches all the tricks, moves and twerking/splits and is affordable. I hope to start within 6 months from now. I really do admire strippers (might sound bad to some) but if I can use it to pay for my 2 years of grad school, private school for my kids, and save to buy a home after grad school, it is worth it! Thank you for sharing your story, I was afraid to share mines but yours gave me a sense of comradarie.
Good luck on your mission fellow soon-to-be!

So glad to hear that you feel this way about my post. I am glad that we have something in common, and I am really glad to have found this site. In a way I see a sisterhood on here and that is very appealing to me. Anyways the pole dancing classes sound like a great way to start off and get yourself ready for the big jump. Very excited for you. I am definitely going to add you and hope we stay in touch on this journey.

Running outside is the quickest way to get into shape IMHO. Also lifting some weights. Yoga too, there are tons of great videos on YouTube that you can do for free and it will increase your flexibility which is extremely useful for stage and avoiding injury. Keep us updated!

If you're interested in hiking, I highly recommend getting a yearly pass to Stone Mountain Park so you can hike up the mountain a few days a week. That will definitely be good cardio.
