Default Anyone never had an amazing shift?

This might sound daft but I am driving myself mad. I work hard at it, put in the hours twitter etc and have quite a few eggs. I am nothing but consistent though. Every week I seem to make the same. Granted i'm working in the UK daytime which isn't ideal I have even put prices up and it stays the same. I have regs and really good feedback but never seem to grab a whale or have anything more than an average day!

I have just joined SM to add another egg and this is the same its going well enough but nothing spectacular. I have just charted the last month I have been on and its the same each week give or take a couple of dollars?

Just wondering how long it took you guys to build up that following? I have been doing this over a year now but as I say just consistent. I am wondering if working nights is the answer and try changing things around a bit?

Well, I guess the first question to ask is what is your definition of amazing?

How long have you been camming full time on each site? What does your equipment and internet speed look like? How is your relative site placement compared to other models? Are you niche or do you appeal to a wide audience?

So much goes into getting into the top 1% of cam models that it's impossible to pin down without knowing your specifics, and even then it's only going to be speculation.

For what it's worth, experience tells me that a rare 'outstanding/amazing/spectacular' shift is less important than consistent numbers over time. Like, great, someone pulled $500 in a shift, but if that only happens once a month and it's $50 every other day, then the person pulling $100/day is actually ahead at the end of the month.

I have top notch gear and cam expensive computer. I am not unhappy with what I get I just don't seem to ever sink a whale if you like or a big night. I just wondered if it's common that's all. I am really good on AW, MGF Is quite good to me too and now I'm starting from scratch on SM have five stars but normally page 5 or so. My room is empty a lot but still consistently make the same as AW. Maybe it will change overtime just wondered that's all. I earn the same as a decent normal job I guess no complaints just always wanting to do better.

Ya know, to be totally honest? Whales are called whales for a reason--they're rare. In any given week, I know that 30-40% of my income will come from regulars doing their usual 5-20 minute show with me. Fully one half of my income comes from single-visit spenders or once a year guys. Sometimes they drop $5, sometimes $50. Either way, not 'reliable' cash. Then, a tiny portion of my income is from a 'whale' or high roller or what have you. Example: had a finsub come drop about $150 my cut in 20 minutes on SM the other day. Great shit, but unlikely to happen often. Those types of whales run out of cash fast. It's the cultivation of your regulars--which you've wisely focused on by the sounds of things--and converting new sales that is the biggest factor in your paycheck. So, short answer to your question: no it's not uncommon to not have a lot of whales.

Mind you, I'm exclusively an SM and indy girl, so I can only speak for those sites.

As for improving your hourly rate, the things to look at are a lot of what I've mentioned already: equipment, net, more hours, educating yourself on fetishes, improving your sales skills, and then--when all that is in place--taking a hard look at your rates themselves. Placement is also huge too, but yours will improve over time just by working regularly and slugging it out.

You seem to be at that last stage, so I suggest you start playing with times of day to see if some shifts are better for you than others. Usually it takes 1-2 weeks to really get a feel for how a different shift is going to be money wise.

Next up is good ol' fashioned math. Obviously, if your rates don't make $100/hour a physical possibility, it's never gonna happen. Ex. a model who charges $3.99/minute for exclusive on SM cannot make more than $84/hour without some baller tips. If you know you only spend 25% of every hour in paid chat on a site like SM and want to make, say $100/hour doing nothing but exclusive shows, then you would have to charge--no shit--about $19/minute (ahem: 25% of one hour = 15 minutes; $100 your cut is $285 in customer spending on SM; $285/15 = $19.04/minute customer rate). Gold shows, stacked premiums/group shows, and tips can help you get to that higher hourly much faster without setting unrealistically high rates. And all of this long-winded mathy shit is to say: if you want to improve your hourly earnings, you have to play with your numbers pretty relentlessly to find your balance point of earnings vs paid time. Unfortunately, it's trial and error, not formula. Fortunately, because you already have your hours/tech/etc. in place, you can really focus on all that without feeling overwhelmed. It has personally taken me 2 years to figure all of this shit out for myself and it's still a struggle some weeks.

Good luck and it's good that you're thinking with the improvements mindset. I hope cam keeps progressing for you.

That is so helpful thank you! I have been playing with rates and it's not putting off even new SM regs so it looks like it's trial and error and lots of maths!

I am so enthusiastic it's a bit tragic I need to turn my brain off the problem with this business is you can be doing it 24/7 I need the break button for me!!
