Default Strip Trip input needed. Trailer or motel???

So in september I will be kicking off a massive strip trip of the states, starting in New York, heading south and all around till we wind up in LA and then drive back up to Canada. I've been planning it for a while now and expect it to take the better part of a year. Originally I thought we'd drive with a little fiberglass trailer behind us (like a Boler or Scamp) because then we'll have a place to sleep. But now that's getting a bit closer, and I'm currently trying to buy the car I'm wondering if maybe the trailer is senseless. In New York it will be parked at a friends in Connecticut, New Orleans I imagine we'll have it parked out of the city as well and we'll just find somewhere to sleep. I don't know if it's silly to expect us to be camped out in it in the outsides of a city (like Miami, Charlston, Atlanta etc) and will just end up being a big waste because we'll wind up staying in motels or airbnbs to whole time.
Any ideas or input would be extremely appreciated, I've never done anything like this before (though I did travel and dance all around Australia, i dont think it will compare!) we're thinking we'll stay 2-4 weeks in each place but it will really be dependant on how the clubs so nothing is really set in stone. ---It would also be great to make some connections along the way! So shoot me a PM if you feel like following the trip

I kinda did this a few years ago. I slept in a my car a few nights but after that I def wanted a hotel with a nice bed and warm shower. I was trying to save as much money as possible. This was before airbnb so I was stuck with hotels. I think your camper/trailer sounds like a good plan. That's what Id do. Youd save a ton of money.

Do Walmart parking lots still offer free overnight parking for RVs and trailers?

This sounds like fun and something I would love to do.

Yeah Walmart still has it's free camping rule, the only hitch with this is that we wouldn't have a shower so might be more drawn towards RV sites which will be $60-100/night, where we can get an airbnb for around $100/night or cheaper with the weekly discounts

Lauren did you do the East coast or West?? I don't think I would be able to sleep in my car after a full shift, props to you!!

Maybe a membership at a gym that gives you access to gyms across the country could be handy. You could use their showers facilities... but that could be a hassle.

I think renting an Air BnB would likely be more economical in most places. The trailer would be more of an experience in itself. There are rural clubs that don't have much in terms of accommodation in town, so in those situations a trailer would make sense.

You can plan your trip so that you go to a lot of clubs that have accommodations available for the dancers...

I think a car and ab&b would be your best bet. You're going to have to get into the city from Connecticut which may be a pain getting back/expensive after a long shift. Then you have to fuel the trailer on top of pay parking fees to shower.

I would recommend extended stay hotels. They are around $160-300 a week and you would get to have a full sized fridge plus a little stove top. I'm currently living in one! It's actually cheaper than what rent, utilities, and internet/cable would be in this area since I'm paying $210 a week for a double bed room.

I'm looking into this for the summer & just curious where I could do cheap lodging at bc I will only have my car so an extended stay will be my only option bc after a shift I'm not gonna be able to sleep in my car comfortably. ^ What area are you in Hysterical?

I did a strip trip and couch surfed some and otherwise stayed in extended-stay hotels. I worked out deals with management. I also worked at some clubs where the owner could get you discounts on lodging. I prefer hotels and houses to campers/trailers myself, so what I did worked really well for me. Now that Airbnb is an option, I would've done that too. And like another person suggested, I had a membership at 24hour fitness that let me work out anywhere, anytime

So the consensus is in!! We're not getting trailer and decided to go with a big ass mini van (which will have shelves/a closet in the back, and a small sleeping platform that we could use in a pinch but wont be a full size bed) and then sleep at airbnbs. I've never heard of the extended hotel stay, is it certain chains? I'll definitely look into it, thank you!!

    It's such a great way to go ! ^^^
I did the same set up in a large pick up truck. I'd sleep in the truck ( usually on non-dancing days ) about 3 times a week. Great $ saver and perfect spot to sleep in a pinch or even see national park areas ect. without needing to set up a tent. Are you a couple or friends ?
If friends , grab a tent too and then you'll both have a sleeping spot without being in each others way too much.
If you are a couple ..... hopefully you can set up your platform to extend across the whole Van.
AirBnB's / private rooms in hostels will work well and a couple nights between stays in the Van will keep costs down!

There is an "extended stay" motel chain, but often any chain or private hotel will help you, if you ask the hotel manager to make a deal with you.

I loved working in NOLA, but made shit for money (different hustle than I'm used to), Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth) and Arizona (Phoenix) were ok, Denver was alright, Florida (Tampa and Ft Myers) was difficult, Wyoming was good, New Mexico was good. Depends on your hustle and level of comfort with contact I guess.

Yes it's all really exciting!! I'm just done with the whole planning limbo stage and want to get my ass on the road and in gear already. We're two friends, but we've done some pretty tight quarters living before so it should be alright, though we're both expecting some tense moments and bitch fits :p

thank you! Our level of contact is pretty open, we've both worked in a lot of different clubs in Aus so we're used to no contact and boobie grabbing too. As for hustle, I'm best in a club that is midway "club" fast hustle and half "slow" gentlemens clubs style hustle. I'm pretty shit at getting extended dances but I'm pretty confident in getting good VIP's and getting them to extend. Whats the hustle/deal with NOLA?? Not gonna lie, it's been on my wish list of places to work for soooo long and I've been dancing in my pants thinking about how soon i'll be there haha!! I think most of Texas will be out for us though as neither of us are American so we won't have green cards

NOLA was just.... difficult for me. Lol sorry but Idk how to explain; maybe someone who works there regularly would be able to better.

Definitely ask places if they have rates for extended stays. Even if they technically don't, managers will often have the power to pull strings and log you in under a corporate rate, or something similar for a discount. Travelodge has weekly rates, and Studio 6 is the extended stay version of Motel 6. There's also Extended Stay America, and Crosslands. La Quinta doesn't offer extended stay rates, but the manager was able to book us under corporate when we asked her.

University forms often rent out rooms in the summer or Christmas season. These often have kitchens and are Like small apartments, so they are perfect for a group.

Good luck! That trip sounds amazing. Be sure to post updates on here for us

Anytime Fitness would be a good gym for that, it's open 24/7 and there are usually showers and a tanning bed.
