    Default Stripperfumes

I cannot count the number of times I have walked out of a club smelling like cheap perfume, though in the last few years it has become much less frequent as I think that most girls are realizing that heavy perfume = lost sales for guys who have SOs. I am also always alert to it and stop girls who stink of perfume from touching me, but I cannot always catch them when they come up from behind.

Well, after a good run, it finally happened to me again last night. A girl who I had tipped onstage snuck up behind me and gave my back a big hug, in the process rubbing her very strong perfume all over the back of my shirt.

There is one scent in particular that I used to smell a lot. It is strong, cloying and sticks to your clothes forever unless a good washing is applied. Get this scent on a single jacket or shirt and it is guaranteed to make your whole suitcase stink. I have come to give this scent the unaffectionate name of "Eau du Skank." This wasn't exactly the same, but it was just as strong.

Almost nothing bothers me in clubs, but glitter and strong perfumes are one of the rare exceptions. Am I really being that unreasonable in not wanting to get skunked during a club visit?

No, most clubs have a rule against glitter at the very least.
Does your SO really think you're a SAINT? What a naive woman LMAO..

^ I don't think that almost any guy with an SO would fare well if he came home reeking of perfume, regardless of what she may or may not otherwise suspect.

Obviously not a dancer, but I'm sure they're not running around wearing perfume with the explicit intent to stink and stick to your suitcase...

More often, IME, the heavier perfume is usually to cover up the smoker's smell. But that's me. Just my 0.02.

I'm sure it's worn to cover any number of things, from the smell of smoke to sweat to any number of other things. But the intent doesn't change the end result for any guy who has to go home to someone.

You're right. It doesn't. For the dancer it becomes a catch-22, lose a sell bc of guy didn't think ahead and has to worry about bringing home the perfume scent vs losing a sell d/t smoke/sweat/etc smell. I make it easier on both her and myself by coming in w an outfit where I don't have to worry about tossing.

The reality, again IME, getting attention is not about the clothes but about your embodiment/body language/vibe etc you have. Esp so for the more seasoned, unless you're looking to impress the less experienced...

Well the one thing I like for getting rid of airborne scents is Ozuium..sold @ Target (auto section) also in auto supply stores/some gas stations. It really gets rid of smells, not just masks them. Not sure if it'd work on clothing, but worth a try?

Sometimes deodorant can't mask the b.o. you get from constant sweating. Perfume is a quick fix.

Most people don't like to drown themselves in perfume. ,

Omg lol! I damn near cried laughing just off the title alone. I can't believe they run up behind you like that lol!

I agree. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw ladies using full strength perfume. It's even been suggested on this forum. Like wtf?!?

Body splash or body spray is the way to go if any scent is used because it's less strong and wears off quickly. I use deodorant body spray because I sweat a lot lol!

Also best to use higher quality scents cause that dollar store sh*t smells like nursing homes. And most Victoria secret body splashes are played out, everyone and their grandma wears that. So dude could be think of his gradma while smelling you lol! And yes the club here house mom provides dollar store sh*t - can't never use her stuff.

Scent is the strongest sense tied to memory so I try to chose my scents wisely (no grandma smells, no cheap smells, no strong perfume).

Same with customers. I loathe when men wear strong as cologne not only does it burn my nose but I don't want to smell like them.

Plus Rick Dugan I though you had favorite dancers you frequent. Can't you request that the day/time you see them, especially early into their shift, that they go easy or leave off the perfume/scent? Just tell them you are asthmatic or allergic. I'm sure the reasonable ones would understand. Or buy them a bottle of your favorite body splash that You like and request they wear it for you.

also I am curious though from a guy and married perspective. Even if the horrid perfume doesn't do you in wouldn't the smoke be worse? Don't you shower before greeting your wife or is she right at the door ready for you? Do you wash or launder your own clothes?

That stuff is good. But I believe it gets rid of odors in the air. Febreeze works wonders on fabric. Febreeze also has air freshners but they're not as good as removing air odors as ozium

Yeah I believe their original Fabreeze (the liquid spray for fabric) is not as fragranced as the others.

Also I'd suggest rolling the Windows down and letting the fresh air get some of that eau de stank out of your clothes. I did this because the smoke would get in my hair and clothes. So effing annoying.

Miss, in response to some of your comments, smoke can be explained away far more easily than perfume and there was no way that an airing out was going to get rid of that horrible smell. And this was a dancer who I never met before, so scheduling wasn't going to help me even if I was inclined to ever do so (and I'm not).

Tookewl, plenty of girls seem to manage without drowning themselves in perfume, so I don't believe that it's an either/or situation.

Rick, I've also noticed that the really heavy perfume wearing dancers has been extremely rare in the last few years. Moderation is the practice, as I've rarely smelled a strippers fragrance beyond ~ 3/4 of an arm length. I have also rarely been overpowered scent wise in "close quarters." Even then, just a slight awareness of scent. The maddening thing is, fragrances last much longer on clothes than on the skin. So you might not suspect a thing until you leave the club.

For that reason, I spray some cologne on my clothes if I'm figuring on a long night of clubbing. That probably wouldn't do for you as I go casual wear to clubs.

Ariel B brings up an interesting point about glitter as it has been a while since I've noticed it. Don't know if it's club policy (I haven't been to NYC clubs), or just strippers getting smart. It seems that "spray tans" are alive and well. For that reason, I don't wear light color shirts to club.

Rick, I don't have your situation but I can certainly empathize, would a simple solution be to grab a quick drink at a busy bar? I think I remember you saying you live in Manhattan too. When you're traveling = no problem, I presume. When you're home, drop by a bar that is packed. I've been Thierry Mugler Angeled so many times that I learned the name of it. Get to know the bartenders .... I don't know how far you want to take this whole thing but take her by a few times, the bartenders will be like "hey, it's Mrs. Dugan!" Problem solved.

Honestly, I think it's partly due to other girls bitching about it. If a girl blasts herself with some cheap dollar store cotton candy shit in the DR, you can bet there will be at least one girl that makes a bunch of loud commentary about the smell... the culprit usually takes the hint. We don't enjoy it either. Most of us at my club wear Bath & Body Works sprays, which tend to be not as 'cloying' or 'heavy perfume' as I find the VS or cheap brands to be... those are the ones that linger on clothes forever... with my stuff, I can spray my sweater every day and it still smells just like 'sweater' by the end of my shift.

I also have not seen glitter in AGES and when I have, it's been a new dancer and she's usually immediately told by a seasoned girl that it's a no-no. Same with lotion or the self-tanner. Partly because it's a customer deterrent, partly because that chick will then get it all over the stage & thus on every other dancer. So yes, it's at least partly that we got smart

Side note: I had a regular at one point that bought tons of cheap sweatpants and t-shirts at Walmart to wear clubbing. He would literally just throw them out after a visit. He was not risking his wife finding out via smell or glitter.

The stinkiest the dressing room ever seems to get for me is usually when a group of kids come in wearing enough cologne to feed and gag an army. Anyone who dances for or even just sits with them immediately smells like they drenched themselves in cologne, too. Which sucks, because not only is it not all feminine and sexy, but it also doesn't always mesh well with their own natural odors as they sweat, so it turns all sour smelling and gross. So, they go back to the dressing room and re-apply some perfume to dappen the Axe and refresh the citrus or whatever. After enough girls do this, just walking into the dressing room can feel like you walked into a gas bomb of flowers and fruits. Not very pleasant.

All other times, if it's just one dancer dousing herself, other dancers will jump in pretty fast and call her out on it. No one wants one girl to ruin everyone else's money, and also most girls don't want to smell like her newbie-selected perfume scent of choice anyways. The girls at my club are generally pretty good at policing each other, so it doesn't happen that often. When it does, though, everyone suffers for it, and it's usually because one or few dingus kiddos bought into their cologne's advertising hype as they were getting ready for Baby's First Trip to the Strip Club.

I leave the club smelling like a mixture of every stripper scent known to man and I do not even make contact with the other girls on most nights. My clothes and my hair, too, and everything in my bag. I think so much perfume has been doused over the years that the smell will remain until the apocalypse happens and the club bursts into flames.

I have a high quality deodorant that I use all over, smells like lavender.

Maybe the dancers want to drown out customer's BO with their own perfume so they dont smell the customer during a LD. So the perfume HAS to be overpowering by design.

When those Axe deodorant commercials first launched, you could smell every teenage boy and millennial male from 10 miles away.

As for "stripperfumes", (great name for a punk rock band, btw), I can just imagine some dudecustie suing the club for getting asphyxiated and hospitalized for an allergic reaction. There are rules at schools now for being "fragrance -free" much like peanut free zones.

Why don't you just carry a change of shirt or jacket in your trunk?? When visiting a club theres always a risk of getting perfume, glitter, self tanner, makeup on you, that's just the way the cookie crumbles so if you're steppin out on your wife and wanna keep it on the DL you gotta get creative and plan for occurrences like that.
