I am currently not a dancer, but this is something I've been thinking about for the past month. I'm looking to start out travel dancing, but I currently don't have a car or license, so I'd probably be traveling through the greyhound for a bit. I can count the number of jobs I've had on one hand, one of which I held for like 2 months (fired bc I wasn't aware that I was scheduled to work, but the buses weren't running that day so I had no way to work and was fired.). I'm currently in the process of dropping out of college. I plan on going to a sort of vocational school to study art in California eventually, which is tens of thousands cheaper than art school, but I would have to pay out of pocket for it because the school isn't covered by financial aid. I'm also just under $24,000 in student debt, so I definitely plan to pay that off too.
I am a rather small black girl, 30.5-26-34, and I'm a little bit light-skinned (I'm a quarter Samoan, those features come out mainly in my eyes and skin) so I'm kind of worried I'm too skinny to work at the black clubs, but I don't know if I would fare better at the other or mixed-race clubs. I think I must look racially ambiguous though because people usually assume I'm half-asian or half-white, and once I did get asked if I was Latina. I have dreads but I plan on covering it up with a wig. I currently live close to Nashville, but I don't want to work anywhere in the state because I'm afraid of bumping into people I know. I've thought about starting out in Atlanta, but what places would be good for me? Thanks!
