    Arrow Be interviewed by Cosmopolitan.com!

Hi! I'm a writer for Cosmopolitan.com, and I'm working on a story about camming.

My goal with this article is to give Cosmo readers an idea of how camming works. I've already spoken with *Name Removed*, but I'm looking to speak with a few more performers. Ideally, I'm looking to speak with a cam performer who's a young woman between the ages of 18-25, and cams part-time. We would speak on the phone, and if you're not comfortable having your full name in the story, we can talk about using a fake name in the article.

Feel free to get in touch if you're interested! My email address is [email protected].

    Thanks!

Why do you specifically want someone whose no more than 25 and only part time? You may as well have thrown in weight and ethnicity in your request as well. If you really want to give your readers an idea of how camming works start by opening up your own point of view. We aren't all young nor are we all females.

More than likely it is their main demographic & has been for decades. Majority of their articles & fashion is for that age group too. It is great exposure & opportunity for those who choose to do it. Although I would get it in writing about miss quotes & such to protect yourself.

First and foremost, limiting yourself to pt 18-25 year-olds is just that: extremely limiting. There are many top dogs on multiple big name sites who are either full time, over 25, or both.
Secondly, if you are legit, mind dropping all of your info? ie linkdin, twitter, official cosmo business email, ect. We're understandably a wary bunch, but we're also not idiots. You'll have substantially more interest (even with your odd requirements), as most of us just aren't going to out ourselves to a complete stranger without any credentials.

There are many writers that get paid per story rather be on staff for magazines & newspapers and such.

A former porn star writes articles for the daily beast but her email doesn't have [email protected] in it.

Cosmo is & always has been for females in their twenties or so, wanting to interview females in that age range looking to do this part-time as an angle would be her pitch or what the Editor wants. I know lots of us would love to be in Cosmo, it was my bible in my twenties. Now, Vanity Fair or Vogue maybe a better fit for those of us who are older.

I just want her to post her info publicly so we can verify that she is who she says she is. I don't think it's an unruly notion to want credentials before outing ourselves to strangers.

She should have posted few links to her past works so those interested could get a feel for her writing style & how she approaches each subject. We don't have agents or publicist who do the screening for us & she may not be aware of that right now.

While I understand why we have to be cautious, some of the responses are a bit unwelcoming. Since she personally has never done us wrong that isn't fair to her. I would guess she is young too & still has much to learn in how to approach people in the sex industry for such articles.

Her email is Hearst.com Hearst once upon a time a huge newspaper & magazine company. So big that "Citizen kane" is a parody of the founder William Randolph Hearst. Sorry, I didn't read the post till the end. If any of you do get a chance please visit Hearst Castle in California, it is amazing.

She would be a staff writer.

Hannah many of the performers here are doing this full time rather than part-time. I know hundreds of cam performers but most of them are above the age limit you have set. Although these lovely ladies maybe above it & do it full time would still give wonderful interviews.

Sure, if you're happy with an industry in which only the most extreme and/or professionally publicised performers are earning.. and when I say earning I mean earning WELL. I think you know me well enough to know I'm not coming from a perspective of fear here, after years camming i do better now than i ever have, despite it being far slower. It's about looking down the line long term and working out if you'd rather have a (possible) short term boost in exposure and income now, versus slimmer pickings later on, or keep shtum and enjoy the bounty for longer. I've faught a long battle with showing/not showing my face, doing/not doing interviews (I've been guest invited countless times to appear on tv shows and always refused), and in that time i can tell you that every single one of the girls i know who has opted for the first scenario is now endlessly moaning about how slow it is and how hard it is to earn anything. Their faces are everywhere, their names are everywhere (increasing their risks), but they are no better off for it.

I get where you're coming from i really do, it's a strategy i use myself (obviously or i wouldn't still be doing this), and you can say it's none of my business to try and tell people what to do, but from observation, personal experience, and knowledge of economics i would urge people to be cautious. The risks of watering down your potential earnings are far greater than any immediate gains. I'm really not trying to be selfish here, just preaching long term thinking x

i agree with susie, when i was an escort, a very important tv show here in brasil asked me to do an interview for them and even being afraid of doing it, i did because i thought earnings would touch the sky, and i was dead wrong, it didnt increase and i exposed myself for nothing.

The readers of Cosmo won't be your customer base.

Newbies are rarely a threat to any of us, they don't have the sales skills it takes to convert into sales. Keep in mind 99% of them won't last more than 2 weeks at it.

But being seen as a legit biz with no shame in mainstream media is important. Legend Chief Editor Helen Gurley Brown was all about females enjoying sex with no guilt or shame in 1967. I think she would have celebrated us & what we are doing 100%. "Sex & the Single Girl" by her in 1962 opened doors for all of us. Once decades ago I saw her in the streets of New York with her RICH husband, even in her 80s she was in a short dress, super sexy & dressed to the Nines.

I know some of you don't know the magazine or Helen Gurley Brown history, but to help continue her legacy is an honor for any of us. About us being able to do this job & move on in life to mainstream jobs without being shamed, not hired or treated less than others who didn't do it eventually. This being a stepping stone towards getting rid of that misogyny bullshit, this should NOT taint any performer from having careers in different fields.

But if you can't see that bigger picture, then don't do it. Already emailed her so I can help her find those in the age range requested who will be honored to do so.

Stepping off of soap box, speaking as someone who broke many glass ceilings in the adult industry for all of us.

Not done with the soap box, the articles in mainstream media will continue whether or not you participate. We will get more & more of them in the near future & the camming industry will also become more mainstream too.

Tv & movies are losing their audiences to Social media, youtube, tubesites(which are dying) & camming sites. I think of my shows now as a variety show. There will be growing pains.

I've always been great at spotting the next thing & where this industry is going for 16 years now. Click on my name & read what I posted in 2011 and now look at the camming market, what I predicted, pushed & pulled for is now reality.

Of course you can chose not to speak to reporters & writers, but that isn't going to stop them from been written & published. Look at Lisa Ann, she now has a tv & radio show with ABC/Disney. We all have different career goals & such, but being so negative will run off this opportunity or others like it in the future. Which I do consider a disservice to other performers who might want to pursue it.

In fact, there are many well established adult industry businesses that would love to do business with us, but are afraid to post on this site. I know in the past that is partly my fault. Don't we want the companies we work for or might to be apart of the discussions about them?

I'd have been more suspicious if she did have an @cosmo business email. Cosmo, Redbook, Good Housekeeping and a host of other magazines all fall under the Hearst umbrella so that totally makes sense. A lot of online outfits pay per submission so having an email that works for all sites under the umbrella probably makes things easier. Im too old or I'd be down

Very true. If I can help stop yet more girls participating by informing them it's not a one-way ticket to riches though then I'm happy.

People can say newbies are not a threat until they're blue in the face, but the reality is more girls = less money. The sites don't do any more advertising for us, and not everyone can or will do what it takes to make a success of themselves independently. All that happens is sites up their tech requirements and minimum standards, so the bar is higher, the competition is higher, but in most cases the customer base is the same size. There are many opportunities that go along with growth of course, VR for example is going to be huge and many will bank if they work it right. But you can't deny that markets like this become saturated once everybody gets on the bandwagon - just look at traditional porn!

Sure camming is going to go mainstream, no doubt about it. But let's not help it on its way eh. The longer people think camming = immoral, dirty, dangerous, career destroying etc, the better x

I'd be OK with this if they focus on not just the positive aspects of camming eg. The top earners, short hours etc. If they mention the studio girls, the single moms who struggle with affording daycare while trying to find time to cam, the crazy shows on MFC and how morality is compromised for entertainment and profit, etc.

This writer has no clue what she is getting into.

Articles about all areas of the sex industry seem to only go two ways. They talk about how it's exploitative, soul crushing, destroys your future and makes you hate men or they talk about the short hours, massive earning potential and fun lifestyle. It would be great to see something more balanced which either concentrates on the average experience or shows multiple perspectives for comparison but from the requirements posted above I doubt this is going to be that article.

It certainly looks like the article is aiming for the classic 'positive' angle of:
'This young person is earning more than you would expect for someone her age, and doing it part-time enables her to also study/pursue some worthy non-profit activity/live a life of indolence (which we all secretly aspire to)

Nothing wrong with that. I'd prefer it to the soul-crushing/life destroying trope, and it's each individual's choice about whether they want to participate (for those who fall into the criteria) but it seems to me that the writer can do more than one article on this topic since she's doing the research anyway. Why not write a longer and meatier article on spec and sell it somewhere that it not only fits better than the readership of Cosmo, but may enhance her reputation for more in depth work?

I would like to see more articles about camming that are aimed at our customer base. Maybe they are out there, but no one ever comes to SW wanting to interview us for articles for men about what men get out of visiting cam models. Sam makes good points, but I'd rather camming be a mainstream way to get off, not a mainstream way to make money. I feel like a lot of guys right now jerk off to tube sites, see the pop ups and sidebars, and think, "I don't really know what this 'live girls' thing is, but I bet it's a scam, and I doubt they're live. It'll just give my computer a virus if I click it." Instead, I want guys to sit down to jerk off, and think "I want something special today. Let me google cam girls. I saw articles about it in the HuffPo and Playboy and Forbes. It seems to be the thing to do when you want to wank to the really good shit."

ETA: What Cosmo should actually be doing is consulting us about their tedious "25 Secrets to Make Your Guy Explode" articles. Tips 1-19: Stick something up his ass, and we're not talking about your finger. The bigger the better. Tips 20-25: to be revealed in my paid chat!
