    Default Dancing in a wig?

Does anyone have any experience dancing in a wig? Full lace or lace front? Glue or no glue? Sew in? Do you live with it on or take it off after? Could it fall off while doing pole tricks? Is it noticeable? What about sweating under it?

I'm trying to grow out my hair and give it a break from chemicals and extensions. I still want to have long, light hair for dancing though. I like to do high energy shows and I love flipping my hair.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've seen girls with wigs in the club and i think it's fine as long as it looks like it could really be yours so maybe lace front or a really good non lace front wig. You most likely won't be able to to hella pole inverts etc. And you'll have to be aware that a lot of men will try to touch your hair or try to slick feel if you have weave / wig so stop them before they try to touch your hair.

I have assholes that think my real (light brown/golden blonde straight, healthy) hair is a wig. Fuckers pull on it during lap dances all the time trying to rip it out. I about lost my shit on some guy the other night. Smdh. So yeah, be careful.

I used to dance in wigs all the time, I don't do pole tricks so I don't have to worry about it falling off, but I still used a bunch of pins and clips. My biggest problem was my long wig, I kept lying on it when o was doing floor work, almost pulled it off a few times. Also, I have a bunch of clip-in ponytails, those fly off sometimes even during dances bahahahahahah.

I had a lace front wig and used glue and it was ok, id suggest not getting anything too long/thick as it weighs mire and can fall of during hair flips etc

I have done every type of extensions there are, along with tons of wigs, at work. When wearing a wig, I use a lace front, with wig tape. I use a lot of boddy pins as well to keep it in place. If you do any pole tricks it should stay as long as you pin it well. Do NOT do any pole tricks where you are upside down, it WILL show people the under side of your wig. The longer the wig, the more annoying it will you be. you will always be fixing it.

I highly suggest using halfwigs, since you can have a lot of your real out, it helps make the wig look more natural. I also would not spend more then 150 a wig, since being at work can seriously mess them up. I wear half wigs alot and have to buy a new wig roughly once a month. ( For the ones i wear to work ) Just experiment with different wigs and find what you are comfortable with.

Shorter wigs will last longer than long wigs -- long ones can get tangled just by walking around in them, never mind dancing. Lace fronts are most likely your best bet when it comes to a realistic look for a manageable price. You can improve the realism further if you're willing to do a little work on your own. Most wigs come with "too much" hair, so thinning them out a tad can help them look more natural/less poofy. If you have long hair naturally, this can be especially important if your want to avoid looking like you have a long table/large, lumpy volleyball shaped head. If you can afford it and can find one, getting a wig with a part line can do a **lot** for the realism factor. If you get a wig close to your natural hair color, pulling out your baby hairs/a few strands of your natural hair around your forehead can also help it blend in. If your wig is nowhere near your natural color, you can still pull out the strands of your natural hair and then just color them to match your wig. Usually, this can be done with makeup (most girls I've seen do this use eyeshadow) so it can just come out in one wash, but if you're dedicated to it for the long term, you could also just dye the strands to blend in. Keeping the look realistic will both help your money and help you avoid guys yanking on your hair to see if it's real -- pretty much every girl I know who wears wigs has had to deal with that at some point, and some deal with it regularly. And if you've secured it to your head properly, that thing will be secure. So, someone yanking it will hurt like a mother and just be generally unpleasant besides. Fantasy is great, but believable is better. If you can master the balance of believable fantasy, you've struck gold and should be totally good.

If you do inverts, you do risk people seeing the weft of your wig, but how much of an issue that is depends largely on your wig. Flip it upside down and see fo yourself how it looks. If you can clearly see the weft, you might want to stay right side up. If the hairs cover it right side up and upside down, though, then you should be totally fine. And if you secure it properly, that thing isn't going to move, no matter how crazy you get on the pole. Bobby pins are your friend. Pin it along the borders, but also through the mass and towards the crown. Keep the bobby pins themselves hidden -- your goal is to pin the wig/weft to your wig cap/hair, not pin the wig hair in any particular design. With enough bobby pins, that thing will stay on your head through the apocalypse. No amount of pole flippery is going to shake it lose. Especially if you pair them with wig tape for extra security.

They're hot, sweaty, itchy, and it's humiliating when they come tumbling off at work. I used to suffer from trichotillomania and had to wear them full time and HATED it. Then I discovered hair extensions and even half wigs and it was like a light shining down from heaven.

It comes and goes for me and I think most people, basically mine is induced by stress and anxiety or when I'm feeling vulnerable or alone. You have to really pay attention to your triggers and how you're feeling/what's going on in your life when you start pulling. I will never let it get as bad as it was though, I'll put caps on my head when I feel like pulling, gloves on my hands, whatever it takes! I almost feel like it's a facet of self harm, a coping mechanism.

I get triggered by stress but I find if I keep my head covered it makes me think about the behavior as I reach to do it. Mostly I just go into a trance like state. It's so weird. And it is self harm but it's really the only thing that's relaxing. Especially if I'm in deep thought I like to do it. =(

The first time I ever danced wearing a wig, I did a shoulder mount flip and the wig flew right off. HAHA! Full lace are the best in my opinion, front lace are also fine. Make sure there are either wig clips or combs to help hold it in place. If I have lace front glue then sometimes I will wear it for a few days. You have to take care proper care of the wig if you decide to wear it for a few days like while sleeping and such. There are loads of videos on youtube.. And sometimes if the girls at the club know you're wearing a wig, they will spread it to all the customers like wildfire. I had a girl ask in front of a couple customers but instead of getting embarrassed, I would just reply like Yeah! It is! and just be as confident as possible about it.

I get sew in's sometimes like weave but my friend used to just do her braids and sew the perimeter of a wig on and it looked perfect, and MUCH easier than having to deal with glue and all that jazz.

If you dance in a wig you can sew it down, add an elastic band to it at the ears so it lays flatter or bobby pin it down. Bobby pins works wonders!! Just use a good amount of them and your wig won't go anywhere as long as your hair is braided underneath and the bobby pins are going through earwig and hair. Also think about a wig with a bang because they are less noticeable and you don't have to worry about blending your hair or making sure the lace looks ok. Hope this helps. But always do a practice with your wig to make sure it doesn't fly off too
