Default Considering Dancing, but I have some concerns

Hi, I'm Kahli. I've never danced (exotic dancing at least) and am seriously considering it when I move to the Phoenix area next week, but I have some reservations.

I've only given a couple lapdances to an ex and while he thoroughly enjoyed it, I literally have NO IDEA how to go about it in a strip club setting. And Phoenix (would probably be working in Tempe or Scottsdale) seems to be a no contact place based on the exotic entertainer license pamphlet. Can I get some input from Phoenix area dancers on this?

Although I'm a nice person, I tend to come off as a total bitch when people first meet me because I'm a little standoffish (at least with co-workers. I'm currently a bartender and do great with customers, especially dudes) and can be very blunt. I don't do well with catty women and tend to verbally put them in their place and have zero tolerance for bullying and drama. I've heard and read on SW that SCs can be like catty bitch dens and while violence is always a last resort and I will never start a fight, I will sure as fuck finish one. I don't wanna be in that position at all, and while I know the best course of action is to walk away and not let shit like that get to me, I have a temper and a very low tolerance for that bullshit, so that also worries me.

I want to work during the day. I have a 2 year old son and these late nights and early mornings as a bartender are killing me. Is it possible to make good money (or at least enough to get by, say, net $2500 a month or more) working 4 day shifts a week?

That's pretty much it. I basically haven't been able to get dancing off my mind since my best friend/soon-to-be housemate suggested it. It's something that I really want to do, but something I know I shouldn't take lightly. This forum has been extremely helpful (especially the Newbies and Hustle Hut sections) and I look forward to any advice or tips.
    Thanks!

i'm not sure how AZ is but in most places i've worked.. 2500 a month working 4 days a week sounds totally do-able. you'll probably have to cultivate some regulars though to consistently do well during the day.

as far as the other girls.. just mind your own business and keep to yourself. if you seriously think you're physically incapable of staying quiet and not telling off other girls then maybe don't be a stripper. girls are gonna be bitches in any workplace that's competitive and predominately female. girls were just as bitchy (even worse actually) when i worked at hooters.. it's the same shit. just leave them alone and make your money and leave. eventually (if not right away) everyone will probably leave you alone too. no one's going to start a fist fight with you because they don't want to get fired. you don't want to get fired either so just remember that if someone pisses you off and ask yourself if it's worth losing money/your job over.

Thanks for your response. Huh Idk why the bitchy girl thing even came up as an issue in my mind last night. Thinking about it now, I'll be fine haha. I've worked at a Hooters and the girls were very bitchy but I just minded my business and was fine. I also worked at an Ojos Locos (another breastaurant only in TX and NM, same company as Twin Peaks) which is considered the more "ghetto" than Hooters and the girls were MUCH nicer there. It depends on the environment honestly and idk why I was even nervous about it now. TBH I was drinking last night and tend to feel more confrontational when drinking. Which is why I've already decided that if I do dance I won't drink at the club at all.

Thanks for assuring me that my monthly goal is doable with day shifts, I was really worried about that.

And honestly the worst, most catty all-female work environment I've ever encountered was when I worked as a bank teller haha. Who would have thought.

$2500 working 4 shifts a month is totally doable. It might be a stretch depending on your attractiveness and hustle..but entirely possible. Also, in my experience, day shift girls tend to be far less catty than night shift girls, so I doubt you'll run into much drama. I've heard really good things about Arizona, not in the summer, but apparently it starts to cool down, the money rolls right in.

You need to work a little harder because lap dances are only $10/pop, but you can definitely do it. The bright side is that the cheap dances are easier to sell. It's not unreasonable to expect to sell 30 lap dances or so in a shift. More if you stay longer. From my experience, though, the songs tend to be the same length as clubs in other parts of the country that charge $20+ for a dance, so you're going to be actually physically working almost twice as much for comparable pay. Again, though, you can definitely do it. You'll just be super fit by the end of it.

It might be really hard to get hired next week. Arizona in the summer is a hardcore no-go. Clubs don't typically accept new blood in, and if anything, it's when they start culling some of the established girls out, at least for the offseason. Fall through spring is your best bet. Make sure you save money during that time for when summer hits, though, because *everything* dries up. Maybe find some other work in the meantime that can hold you over for a couple/few months until things start to cool down. September is when things should start to ease a tiny bit, but October is when the whole place can actually start breathing again.

^^^^I've had 3 friends go to Scottsdale, Arizona last month, not together, and at different times. I thought that dances were $10 because of what people say on here, but actually they told me the minimum is $100 and the guy is encouraged to tip at least $100. Many dancers set their own prices and make big $$$$$. Maybe it's because they are all from California and have the California look and hustle, but they were hired on the spot and made money. I would say definitely go in and audition. You want to work day shift and usually clubs love to hire for day shift because there are so few girls. If it doesn't pan out, try again when the weather cools down.

Thanks ladies! I actually ended up returning to my old employer (a corporate family restaurant) here and landed a Gogo gig at an EDM nightclub, but if the money is crap at my restaurant, which I think it might be for day shifts, I'll definitely return to the idea of dancing. Since my original post and my reply to the Phoenix clubs thread in Club Chat, I've discovered that the exotic entertainer license for Scottsdale is over $100 and they don't like to issue them to girls who have an out of state ID which I still do. If I do decide to take the plunge, Christie's Tempe will probably be the first club I audition at because technically they're in the township of Guadalupe and if my information is up to date, Guadalupe doesn't require a license.
