    Duh Identity Theft

Do any of you worry about signing up to sites with your Social Security number? I have done this in the past but now, I think I am going to get an EIN number to sign up with. Maybe it's safer??

See it as no less risky than having photos spiraling through the internet, its always a thought and possible consequence to working.
Nothing wrong with being more safe though..

Yes!.. I got an EIN because I have now had my irs tax return fraudulently filed in 2011.. so I am guessing it came from signing up to cam sites in the past.. so now I am there identity theft program still!.. and it's a pain in the ass.. I have to call their special number if I ever need anything like my tax transcripts.. uggh.. I cannot do anything online on their site anymore.

This is one of the main reasons I'm so weary on signing up on C4S... That tax form just throws me off and I'd rather handle things the old fashioned way..

EIN's carry 2 small caveats signing up with most places -

    1) Generally you will need a new account. You're signing up as a new legal entity so your account is under your business name. Most sites should not have an issue with this, as both EIN's and SSN's are 9 digits and don't require anything special on the forms...don't worry about the dashes being in the wrong places. If you're going through a studio, they should be more than able to accommodate you without messing with your actual site accounts. Latest IRS rules about 1099's are that business to business can be/should be handled with the same 1099 as business to person.

    2) If you're receiving direct deposit, you must open a specific "business bank account" to deposit into, which have a number of weird restrictions (workable though).

    Hi Katy,

    Thank you for the information.
What kind of restrictions would I have if I open up a business bank account?

They will vary from bank to bank. (I just went through the investigation bit of deciding whether or not to open a biz acct)
