Default Anyone ever try working for Uber or lyft? What are your thoughts?

Since I'm suspended for a month for missing one shift I couldn't get covered, and all the other clubs in the area suck, AND my boyfriend is working out in long island for the summer..
I need to get a job or something quick. I've been thinking about signing up for Uber or lyft since I can do it any where and any time. I can even do it during the day when I go visit my boyfriend in long island. (I couldn't find a good day shift club within an hour of where he's staying out there)

I never worked for either, but I clicked on Uber's employement app, & they sure want a lot of stuff, not sure if it's cause I'm near an airport, but I can't with over the top red tape. Again, I didn't totally get into it..
Around here, there's a couple delivery places..you work for a [B]delivery company[/B, NOT a specific restaurant, so you have lots of deliveries,& they don't make you do side work. I guess the ones here, downtown pay better/have more work..
Are you by a large city, if so maybe try conventions? Or, demos handing out food samples (liquor pays better) I sometimes look in craig'slist, that's where I found out about the conventions.
That's all I can think of, atm.
Oh, also there's some companies that do 'events'..again you may pass out samples (the last one I did was dog food, but we didn't give out samples, just info & coupons), I worked in the vestibule of a hockey game handing out pennants & taking custy info on a tablet (about new cars)

Sounds cool. I thought about it myself but I drive a gas guzzler and would be pissed having to drive anywhere over 5 miles.

I looked into it. You can't have a DUI, and Lyft is sticter than Uber (I could do Uber because I have an older car, but not Lyft-can't remember specifics, but check the car year requirements). I think a lot depends on the area you live in to make good $$$. I would also look at being a delivery driver for GrubHub, and other delivery places that basically pick up food from a restaurant that does not deliver, and bring it to the customer. I have a friend who does that. She makes her own schedule, and is 1099. She seems to like it, but it sucks when people don't tip her. She's out in TX, though. And everything whirlerz said, those are good ideas as well.

I used to drive for them, it really depends on your location. Where I was before I moved I would average about $15 an hour, but where I am now I was lucky to make $5 so I stopped doing it. The sign up process was easy enough. With uber I was approved in less than 24 hours. Lyft took a couple of days because you have to meet with a mentor before you can give a ride. I would run both apps on my phone at once and whatever one I got a hit off first I would take that then turn the other app off while I was finishing that drive. One thing nice about Lyft is they offer Daily Pay as long as you make over $50 you can cash out anytime

Every time I see a job opening for that Uber community support representative job (It's a work-from-home job handling customer issues via e-mail), I apply for it immediately, but keep getting turned down for it. Lol.

Have you thought of working for those grocery personal shopping and delivery companies? Some of my friends work for Instacart. If you can shop quickly, you can get a good amount of hours and it pays $15/hr plus tips.
