Default Money & Health Problems :(

I'm really in need of advice right now. Hope this doesn't come off as venting or asking too many questions... I just really don't know what to do!

I'm very broke due to moving out of my ex-boyfriend's house and being unemployed for 4 months... I have about $6500 in credit card debt (partially from a hospital bill without insurance), and my current vanilla job is barely covering my basic bills plus monthly credit card payments. I'm working a 40 hour a week vanilla job that doesn't pay well, mostly because I need health insurance, and the enrollment period for Obamacare is over. :\

I started stripping once a week, and that has helped financially... but I am in bad shape these days, with minor scoliosis and knee problems (from previously using my knees when doing floorwork... don't do it!!), so I don't know if more than once or twice a week is feasible.

I also have a weird lump/air bubble in one of my silicone breast implants, and need to have an ultrasound or MRI done to see if it's ruptured. If it is, that will cost thousands more to have it removed/replaced.

And I live with my mom, so I don't have to pay rent, but that makes it difficult to cam unless I use no sound.

So basically, I'm fucked financially, and I am too frail to really pay for everything with dancing. I'm not sure what to do. I've thought about selling things, like my piano and jewelry, to help pay off the credit cards... and I've also thought about going back to school to take out some loans and use that toward my debt. The problem with that, though, is that I already have a freaking master's degree in teaching (poor career choices lol), and I'm not keen on getting more in debt with student loans PLUS having even less time to strip/cam/make money.

Sorry for the giant post. If you have any thoughts or advice, I would really love some input. I don't really have anyone that I feel comfortable talking to about this... thanks in advance <3 <3

A good chiropractor and massage therapist can help with the back and knee so you'll feel better dancing. I really hope you don't need to replace your implant. We all go through set backs just don't be like me and get comfortable there. Since you don't pay rent and have 2 jobs this shouldn't be more than a year set back if that.

Honestly, right off the bat, whatever you can sell to pay down the CC's, do so! You're right DON'T take out any more loans right now..I don't know much about this, but I've heard of people that get paid to grade tests & stuff? I believe they do it from home.
Also, when you have some cash in hand to work w/, call the CC's & try to negotiate w/them. Start out w/pennies on the dollar & work from up there, before you send them a dime, type something up that states what you're going to pay, make sure you have the signed copy back from them before you pay anything!
    Good luck dear, & hugs.

Edit: About insur., may be possible to still get signed up, I'd check w/a insur. broker. Sometimes, if you have a condition & you need insur. they will take you on? Again, check it out!

This won't help on this hospital bill because you charged it on your credit card, but in the future, always ask the hospital if they offer charity care. Where I live, one of the hospitals is associated with a major university as their teaching hospital. They have a huge endowment that pays for charity care. If you ask, and you qualify, they'll pay your outstanding bill to them. The other big hospital chain is owned by the state of North Carolina and is associated with UNC. They don't have a large endowment for that sort of thing and will sue you into oblivion or bankruptcy. So, you have to do some research in advance when going uninsured to a big hospital. Even if they aren't a charitable hospital or a non-profit, it still pays to ask about charity care. They have to do something to justify their non-profit status.

On to your current debt situation. If it's just $6,500 and nothing else is hanging over you, then it makes little sense to go bankrupt. But, a Chapter 7 will get rid of that debt in a heartbeat and will stop the steady decline in your credit score. The general rule of paying off debts is to tackle the smallest one first, if you owe on more than one CC. Pay all the minimum payments, and pay more on the smallest. Once the smallest is paid off, move on to the next, apply the minimum you were already paying plus the minimum and the extra you were paying on the smallest to the next and so on until you are paid off. This woks a little better because you have some success early. Not really a great strategy if you have just one CC. If you have just one, pay at least the minimum. That will stop the negative credit reporting. Once your credit stops being hurt by the debt, you will see your credit score rebound. As your credit score rebounds, you can look at other credit cards. You will get some zero percent offers. With those, you can make a big dent in a debt because you are paying just the principal! When the intro period ends, take out a new zero percent card and roll the debt over. Still keep paying more than the minimum. You can knock out $6,500 pretty quickly.

Now, let's look at the income side. You know you can dance and make some money, but it's physically hard on you. You are willing to cam, but can't do so because you live at home and can't make noise. I totally get that. But, there's another option if you are totally Okay with casual sexual encounters, sugar babying or flat out escorting will put some serious cash in your hands in a short amount of time.

Yeah, I've seriously considered sugaring or escorting... sugaring is more likely for me. Honestly, I kind of turned my last almost-boyfriend into a sugar daddy... hehe. I don't know if I can pull off being an actual sugar baby, though. Guess it's time to do some research! lol

Thanks!! Yeah, I hope in a year's time, I can move out on my own... if I keep this job and cut down on some expenses... but I'm really not sure. I'm trying to stop eating at fast food places and cook all my own meals/snacks. If you're going through setbacks of your own, I hope they get better! Life sure isn't easy sometimes lol <3

Thanks, I really do need to get selling things. Part of it is that I don't know what I'm doing... like I could make a couple thousand (hopefully) off of the piano, but it's at my ex-boyfriend's house, which is awkward :\ But there are other things to sell, as well...

I do have insurance now... thank goodness, since now I'm having boob job issues... and yeah, I actually almost took a job grading tests! I might look into that again. Or possibly Uber. If stripping/silent camming doesn't work out, I will definitely look into a non-stripping second job.

Don't be afraid to call your cc company! A lot of them will work with you as long as you have paid your minimums reliably. After recent economic hard times they will be more likely to let you skip a few payments because they'd rather know you'll eventually pay than declare bankruptcy, which would leave them with nothing. Seriously, just give them a call, you have nothing to lose. Dave Ramsey is a great financial guru, read his stuff. And definitely sell everything you don't use or need. Every little bit adds up. I sold books on eBay, clothes and shoes at Plato's Closet, my guitar on Craigslist, everything I could and I don't miss any of it. And there are tons of great blogs on getting out of debt. I'll see if I can hunt some down for you if you'd like.

I never would have thought of calling the CC company, that's a good idea. God I hope I would never have to declare bankruptcy... I just need about $500 to get the credit cards under control for the moment, and after that it will still be living paycheck to paycheck, but I wouldn't have any more overage fees...

    Try Glucosamine for your knees/joints.

Well, I went to the club today ready to work... then realized my giant legwarmers don't hide my knee pads and I didn't have any scissors to cut the KT Tape. Ugggghhhhh so I left and will try out some different outfits at home. Hopefully Thursday I'll have some kind of knee-protection setup! lol.

For now... $18 is keeping me alive until payday. D:

Girl, you're in Phoenix huh?! PM me

Anyway, knowing that... can I ask why you're not using your masters? If you don't want to teach-teach, you could substitute. $95-$110/day and you can sit most of the day so it won't aggravate your knee issues.

I would have subbed, but I was physically really sick (overmedicated for anxiety) until about March, and most school districts are only hiring for the next school year at that time. I left teaching in December and am not sure I can handle it again, so I didn't apply for classroom jobs. I actually was almost hired as a tutor, but I was too stressed out to pass the interview stages. Then I landed my fulltime office job, which is about $28,000 a year and has health insurance. Subbing does not have health insurance and you usually don't have work every day, it depends on the district's needs.

I would LOVE to put this degree to use, because I feel like I'm wasting it, but I basically had a nervous breakdown at my last teaching job (I'll throw the alcoholic ex-boyfriend under the bus for that one)... and now in my job interviews potential employers have questioned why I would want to work at their businesses. Like they're afraid I'll move on to something better shortly after being hired, or they'll have to pay me more. Since teaching isn't something I feel comfortable with at the moment, I'm now over/underqualified for other jobs. I'm just glad I finally got my current job and it's low stress.

Sorry for the rant, just trying to explain. I'm really frustrated about it for a lot of reasons

Set up a temporary hardship plan for your CC debt. Get in contact with the bank, explain your situation, and ask about what options they have.
