Default Taking camming to the next level

    Hi Ladies,

I have been camming since January and I cam part time alongside my full time vanilla career and I want to take it to the next level and maximise my earnings from the two sites I cam from. I know I could be making more money if my stream was better etc so I want to give you guys an overview of what I'm doing at the moment and techy bits and I'm hoping you can steer me in the right direction to improving my stream which will ultimately mean more ££.

I currently cam off of streamate and adultwork. I cam for 4 hours each evening after I'm home from work (mon-fri) Saturdays and sundays I usually do split shifts and complete around 8 hours per day. I need to be discrete due to my day job so I cam showing my lip downwards (no eyes etc) and despite what I read it has been going well for me. I usually make £700 a week from both sites combined. I'm running two laptops with a webcam on each and running both AW and SM at the same time. For SM I use the SB Broadcaster calibrated on settings for 1280x720 and usually get around 2500kbps. For adult work I use just cammit and I don't even know what settings on there I should be using for the best stream so help with this would also be great.

I also use a c920 cam on both laptops. I don't use any lighting kits currently I just have my bedroom light and a lamp. My stream doesn't seem crystal clear like some models streams and I'm wondering is this solely because I'm not using a lighting kit or is there a lot more to it. Cant be my laptop as I read the spec needed to cam at 1280 x 720 and followed the spec to a t and got a laptop that would be compatible.

Also on sm ranking page everything is excellent apart from my round trip time which is really poor - confused as to why this is. I'm using super fibre broadband with an upload of around 15.

I have been making most my money off adult work as on SM last few months I get hardly anyone in my room and I don't even know my ranking on there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated xxx

GET THE LIGHT KIT!! I'm serious! I went from grainy and yellow to actually looking HD with nice correct, vivid coloring. I think I just went with a cheap $25 set on Amazon and it's been great.

Yep! I thought I had good lighting with my regular lamps until I actually bought a professional lighting kit. As soon as I had those soft box lights my image was VERY NOTICABLY more clear and crisp! You can find them for under $100 on Amazon (mine were $77) and you will make that money back in no time with your professional HD picture.

They are extremely easy to set up, but not easy to put away every day (I just leave mine out in my cam room)....get the umbrella kind if that's what you're looking for. The ones that I have just turn on and off and the light spreads out so you don't have to adjust them too much, just point them at you.

You probably will. They don't take up much space. I probably have about 4 feet behind my camera and monitor for them. My space is pretty small and they work perfectly...I just had to buy smaller bulbs so they weren't so bright on my face

It depends on the lamps you have and how they are shapred and the type of bulbs w are using. but yes a lighting kit will be much better overall.

I am using a lamp but the bulbs are extremely bright.

I agree that it sounds like lighting might be your weakest link at the moment. If you want a cheap and easy DIY way to bring some more light to your area:
    • Grab a couple clamp lights (like this http://www.lowes.com/pd/Bayco-150-Wa...-Light/3122291).
    • Use a daylight colored CFL bulb, but I wouldn't go over maybe 25 watts CFL (don't know what the equivalent is for incandescent) because it might seriously wash you out. You might even want to start with a 13 watt daylight CFL, since it will be pretty close to you. I also don't recommend getting an LED bulb - as much as they are awesome for many things, they are a bit too heavy for that type of lamp, and it's harder to keep it from tilting or falling over.
    • Cut a circle of plain white paper and tape it over the opening of the light.
    • Stick one on top of each of your monitors for some additional light!
