    Post Shoes and XPole?

    Hello everyone!

I am extremely new here, but I just want a few recommendations?

I have done my research on dancing, and I have been training on my own for a while now. As someone that has recently lost over 70 pounds, I am trying to tone up (even more than I am now) because I want to start dancing when I graduate college (which is probably next May).

Should I buy an XPole for home use? I really want to get one within the next month or so. I do have a pole tricks up my sleeve after classes and playing around with it in studio. I've had no experience other than that. Is it worth the money to really get good at pole, or should I just stick to lap/floor stuff?

Also, I have done all of my dancing so far with no shoes! I plan on buying a pair of Pleaser heels and maybe some Aura heels once I get really set. Has anyone ever had any problems with transitioning from being barefoot?

I gave a lot of background, but if anyone has any comments/suggestions, that would be lovely.

Hey :-) I started out with pole classes before I transitioned to actual stripping at a club. It gave me a lot more confidence. I also have a pro pole at home which is great for practicing new tricks...on the floor or upside down :-p For me, it has made a big difference, and the guys at clubs where I work are pretty impressed with girls who can do tricks. I understand not every club has guys that care....
If you are really into pole dancing, then the pole will pay for itself.
--as for the shoes....I have been wearing heels forever, so it wasn't hard for me to transition. But that is another good reason for a pole at home...you can practice with heels. There were a lot of pole tricks I didn't want to do at first, but it gets easier. And when it is dead in the club, practice :-) Don't buy heels that aren't meant for the club....personally, they aren't nearly as comfy as pleasers or ellies.

Thank you so much for replying raakashock! I really do appreciate your advice. I've done as much research as I can (and I am still doing so), but it really does help to know from those that actually dance. From what I've done I love pole dancing, so I think it could be right up my alley.

    One more question though!

What kind of pole do you have? I was looking at the XPole sport, but I saw some interesting reviews.

Do you know what club you're going to apply for, and if they have a pole? Have you been in a strip club? Clubs can very greatly With money making for pole tricks v. booty shaking. It will help you to buy shoes before you start dancing to get comfortable in them and break them in. I don't have a pole at home, can't help you there.
If customers are still going to be handsy, I'm keeping both layers of thongs securely in place, thankyouverymuch.

Get an xpert, so you can practice both static and spinning. If you get the sport pole, you save some $, but are limited to static plus the sport pole has a non-usable part which can be an issue if you have low ceilings.
Do you know studioveena.com? Lots of great info and awesome community of pole dancers :-)
As for the shoes, get a really basic pair of completely clear Pleasers, they'll last forever and start wearing them around the house once you get them and you'll be amazed how fast you'll get used to them :-)

    Hey,

I'm not a professional dancer, but a camgirl that incorporates poledancing into my shows... gonebabygirl, you will be amazed how much and how fast poledancing will change your appearence, as in toning your body, enhancing your muscles and omg upper body strength. When i first got my pole i thought i would never be able to do anything on it. I still cant invert because i havent even tried it yet, but i can spin and climb with no issue. It will hurt at first....
I also recommend and xpole xpert, a bit more expensive but so worth it. Don't get anything with plastic anywhere!
The best shoes for me are the Pleasers, they *WILL* last forever, and are pretty comfortable, some tricks are easy when wearing your heels, climbing is also easier since they stick better, and it will make you look sexier!

Gone baby girl when you buy your shoes pleaser is one of the best ones and to break them in clean your house in them and it will form the shoe to your feet so they fit better.

I have a FITPOLE (its a Finnish design used by all the pole studios here).....and it's great! I bought it used from an online flea market. I have had it for at least 2 years now. It has the option for static & spinning which is the best way to go...the strip clubs poles vary...some are spinning some are not.
