Default Micro glue-- adding length to ends of your hair? Thoughts?

    Hello everyone!

This may sound fucking retarded....but I'm desperate.

    The situation:

I have 2c curly hair. Each individual strand is quite fine, but I have a lot of follicles so my hair is very thick. I went to the stylist to get my hair bleached. It's a light brown level 5, and I wanted level 8 ash blonde. The stylist wrecked my hair because she didn't do what I asked, so I'm stuck growing out a very short bob. It looks very silly. If I had to describe it...I guess "jewfro chic" would pretty much cover it. It looks GREAT when it's long though.

    The routine:

I never use heat on my hair. Ever. In addition, I'm completely fine with washing my hair once a week with very cold water. I use dry shampoo in between because it gets too dry otherwise. Bleached curly hair just eats conditioner, it's much different than straight hair.

    The idea:

Alright. So this is going to be weird. I need you to remove the idea of hair extensions from your mind.

If I was able to find a hair match (2c, iii, level 5 ash brown), do you think it would be look bad to use micro amounts of super glue to add length to each individual hair? Something like this would take ~80 hours, but I'm patient and can wear updos to disguise it in the meantime. If everything matched and you could not see the glue, how do you think it would look? I have tried experiments and it does stick for years. I tried it with a small section of hair when I was eighteen.

So, are you asking about glue-in extensions? Usually, people use Fusion for your type of hair and it last about 3-4 months. However, you must be careful because glue bonding can stress out curly hair.

No. I am asking if I could glue hair to the ends of my hair.

Ohh no no nooooo. If you want extensions do tape ins or clips, but plz don't hot glue hair on yourself that will be a disaster.

But why not? I don't see a problem as long as the hair matches up and I don't use too much glue.

The glue is not going to hold , it's going to look choppy and horrible, you wont be able to do every single hair, and it will be sooo bad for your hair. I don't see why you won't do regular extensions? Super glueing fake hair to he ends of each strand of hair...no. But it's your hair and decision

here in brasil there is a method of glued hair extensions, im not sure u have there too. hairdressers do it a lot, but its time consuming and it needs to be done by professionals. they glue ur hair and then press the glue with the hair with the hair board for few seconds and this will last few months. its expensive here, not sure there by u.

oh that's HORRIBLE for your real hair and hurts so bad to take out... and it's expensive here too. That was pretty much the main method for a while some years back

NO BIG NO DO NOT DO IT! DO NOT GLUE TO THE ENDS! IT WILL LOOK RATTY AND TANGLED, the wiight of small amounts of glue, the tangling just no
I tried it before so I know what ur thinking lol

Im a hair whore, once a week I do my hair for the past 5 years with all kinds of hair extensions.
    This will absolutely not work

I always hear girls say it hurts to remove keratin, no it doesn't, its a very long process with patience. any and all kind of glue need to be dissolved no matter if they broke the glue loose or not. There will be glue that needs to ripped out if the the hair did not sit with dissolve solution
I sit for hours with removers.
Extensions are not bad for hair unless the person installing has no clue what they are doing.
    Pateince is everything with hair

Honestly, I do not know a lot about this, but I'd go w/this^..I'd say she knows exactly what she's talking about.
I'm so sorry about what happened w/the shitty stylist, but you need to think ahead, if it's going to ruin your hair, it's not going to do you much good.
Have you tried taking any hair vitamins, scalp massage (daily)? Also, from Sally's African Pride brand, Olive Miracle Braid sheen spray, it's very cheap, & has herbs & aloe. It works wonders on my dry scalp. Your scalp is very important.
    Good luck.

Idk, but the ends of anyone's hair are the most fragile & the oldest part of your hair. If she has curly hair, it may be prone to tangling, mine is, plus glue could cause tangling

I am assuming your hair will be loose hair? thats why. it will not brush properly.

your putting weight no matter how small the glue. and must have more than one strand to hold the new hair, so you will have clumps. trust me but if you try it, if your a success or not, I want to hear the outcome.
also you will rip your hair out if you as so much accidentally put your hand down and its laying on the bed, u look up not realizing and there goes your hair.

adding to the hair closer to the roots is what you want to do. not the ends

I believe that's called hot fusion here. I've had it twice. It's at least $1000 here.

Just use clips, or sew in. I had hot fusion hair, it completely ruined my hair and it took me 6 or 7 years to grow out the damage. I would recommend scotch tape but you said your hair was already damaged.

don't do it because the tip of your hair and the extension won't be glued evenly (at a micro level) and even though it looks straight to the naked eyes and might feel smooth (i doubt it, super glue and hair does not feel the same), the little unevenness will make it hard to brush your hair without tangling it up. try agitating and washing the little sample of hair that you experimented on, it will look rough and messed up within no time.

just be patient and grow out your hair, or get extensions.

yea, that is not going to work, you wont even be able to run a brush through it. you will end up with tangles, dreads, and breakage and in the end, shorter hair.

if you are completely opposed to extensions, try a fall or a fake pony tail for work? I used to wear a fall (3/4wig) when i didnt have extensions. I was able to blend it well with a poof at the top of my head. No upside down pole tricks though!
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

You could use individual micro glue to hide the appearance of the cut, but without seeing this its hard to determine how it may turn out. Sometimes can pull it off by layering the extensions/wefts to blend in with the hair. The glue also can give away leaving missing areas and can take a bit to cleanup. I would recommend either micro loops or doubling wefts and sewing on some strong clip ins..for the reason that you can hide the cut without interfering with your hair's growth. I'd also suggest getting your hands on no alcohol added keratin, pure henna or a protein filler to mask the damage done. Wash your hair every few weeks allowing natural oils to rub down the broken shafts, reducing hair brushing can help. I have came across stylists that often leave customers under foil/dryers using 30/40 vol over a recommended wait time..pretty awful results! Also keratin base glue or not, will cause your hair to rip out if it is already under stress..DON'T DO IT unless you want small bald patches. Fragile parts of your hair include the ends/midshaft and front bangs/baby hairs that can slowly recede from pulling. (fly aways)

Other things that come to mind are..

    1) Try rinsing with only cool water, neither hot or too warm.
    2) Soak in a castro and coconut oil mix for up to 15/30min.
    3) Loosely braid the hair and use a humidifier to restore moisture to the hair following with a cool down to seal.

Thank you, everyone. I appreciate the excellent advice in this thread. I'm glad you knew what I was talking about, Erika. Also, thanks for the advice bambi cutie. I have been babying my hair. My stylist left 30 vol developer on my hair for way over the recommended time. Honestly, I'm surprised I still have hair because she fucked up that bad. It should grow out within a year or so. I just won't worry about it until then.

Thanks for all the responses! I'm glad you could correct my stupidity.

OMG I saw a video of this method being done on TV yeeeeears ago, like possibly over a decade ago, and I never saw anything about it anywhere else and when I would try to tell people about this method they thought I was nuts. I knew I didn't imagine it lol.

That 'stylist' s/b banished! I hate that..I'd report her, seriously. There's the state licensing board for cosmetology.
Yea, try that braid spray I recommended, I love it & it's very soothing for your scalp, & it does help w/growth, it has hair growing herbs in it
