So I finally went in to audition at a club and got asked to stay for a few hours after. I woukd have stayed longer but had to be up at 6am. The club that I am working at doesn't charge stage fees but they do take about 20% of any dances you sell. I sold 2 at 30 each and then at the end I asked the bartender to walk me through the fees and such. Also, we are supposed to tip any staff 10%. We settled up and he ended up only taking $11, which I assume was only for the 2 dances I sold. It didn't occur to me until after I was home that I may have accidentally stiffed him. I'm thinking that the next time I see him to just tip him the 10% that I forgot to and apologize because I'm a noob. Does that sound like the proper way to go about it? Also, at what point do you know if a dancer is helping to nudge you to a customer for a dance? I got invited to sit with another dancer and a regular, and she started talking about knowing the difference between a customer that is a time waster vs ones that will spend money on you. The customer bought us both shots. I was trying to be polite and didn't want to step on any toes and didn't want to steal her customer. Now, I'm not sure if she was trying to help me out or testing me or what. She did teach me a pole trick and also advised me to put shorts on if I go outside with a custie that smokes, so it seems like she is looking out for me, but not completely sure about her trying to steer me towards a dance.
