    Default anyone from phoenix?

    hey ladies
so like i said on another thread, my hubby is traveling to the US from today till thursday for business and maybe, just maybe we will have to spend some time in phoenix, its not certain yet, but it could happen and i wonder, how is to live there? i know, there is no comparison with brasil, its a different country, language, and im not sure how is life there. ive been to the US 2 times, but i stayed in manhattan and florida, so i suppose its completely different? any inputs? any suggestions on where to rent a house, where to go, etc...? ty in advance for any tips.

I have never lived there but I have family there. Cost of living (taxes, food, utilities, gasoline, etc.) are all much cheaper than NY, maybe similar to Florida depending where you lived. I can't speak to rent or median home price. I find the people very friendly and the life-style is a bit like a mix of California and Texas- not sure if that makes sense to you. The weather is great, but I find the summer there intolerable. It is like being in a tanning bed and a sauna at the same time to go outside during the day!!

lol, it doesnt make sense to me as i never went to any of those places, but i will do some research. ty for the input, i am very outgoing and i like to make new friends, i have great relationship with all my neighbors here at the building where i live and i am just kinda scared that ppl are going to be prejudiced at me as im a foreigner. does it make sense? as for the heat, im used to it, here is very hot, i prefer heat than cold, so for me its ok. do u know any good neighborhoods that are nice and i should look into? ty again

NY is preety much like sp, the only difference is that sp has 25.000.000 ppl and ny is much smaller, yet, the way of life is the same. busy, crowded and i am just happy to be away from sp for a small time. it will be good for me to breath different air and very good for the baby to live in a smaller place. since he doesnt talk yet, it doesnt make any difference. but its not certain yet that we go, my hubby loves sp and its not really entusiastic about going to the us, so lets see...anyway, i would love to travel a bit and just change air.

I found Phoenix to be the most boring city. It's like living in a massive suburban strip mall.

One nice thing is that the south west of the US is really beautiful and its a great place for hiking and outdoor stuff.

I used to live in Phoenix and I LOVE it. I miss it so much. I love that it is a big city but there are many places that are cozy. I like the weather. It is a dry heat so it is REALLY different then the other places like I have lived like Tampa. IT is a great place and depending on where you live there is always something to do!

well, i dont know much of the US at all, so for me, most probably nothing will be boring as its another country and different ppl. I hope we really go, coz for me would be really nice to get out and see different things.

It's very different from Manhattan and Florida. Those places seem to have a lot of nightlife, open all night long. We are done after 2 am, no all night parties, you can't even get a cheeseburger except at McDonalds the bars close.

It's a smash up of multiple cities that everyone from elsewhere calls 'Phoenix' while locals divide it into Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, etc.
Cost of living is dirt cheap in some areas. We live on the outskirts near horse properties and pay $760 for a 2/2. You can get a beautiful new house for $900 in some areas. You can pay for a high-rise apt downtown by the college or central Phx and pay $1500 for 1 bedroom.

There's 'scenes' of various types if you look hard enough. There's quite a lot of international cultures in the college area; I had Moroccan food the other night. Yes though, a lot of areas do look the same with the outdoor strip mall of Target-Michaels-Petsmart-Chilis-etc.

thnx girls, it looks a calm place to live and that is exactly what im looking for, i already live in a crazy 24/7 city and i always dreamt of a calmer place with a better life quality. its just for a few months, my hubby doesnt want to live in the US, so most probably will be staying there for 3 months. i live in a 3 bedrooms apartment but its a small apt, 75m2 only, so im looking forward to get a house with a yard (the company will be paying for all). i want my son to have a place to play and be free, not like in sp where he stays home all day, 5 days of the week.
what abt prejudice? are ppl there open to foreigners? we love foreigners, but im not sure is the same in the US though. ty

É só estrangeiros do México que a gente em Pheonix não gosta. Se a gente pede "de onde você é" diz que você é do Brasil e voce não tem problema.
