Default Going back to a club after being turned down

I've been dancing for five years, I've done upscale places and dive bars and everything in between. About a year ago I worked at a really upscale club I wish I never left, best earning potential in my area. I went in for an audition again this week and they texted me and said I wasn't toned enough. I am 15 lbs heavier. And my ass is a little fatter than the look they go for, I'd really love to work there again though. I've changed my diet and trying exercise so I could go back in a month or so.

This is my first time ever being told I wasn't hired... so it's a real shot to my ego. Do you think if I get in shape I should go back? Would you reapply? I want to get in shape and go back and make money but I don't want to embarrass myself by going back.

I'd do it. I was on a hot streak getting hired at clubs then the last one I went to didn't hire me due to overcrowding. I plan on going back in a month or too.

maybe change your look if you fear they will remember or recognize you?

If it was your weight or muscle tone, don't worry about them recognizing you. I would go back. I probably auditioned at Tootises like 14 times. I never could get hired there though I worked at much nicer places. Don't know why?

If it was just your weight then yeah, I would tone up and try again. If they hired you 15 pounds lighter there's no reason they shouldn't hire you again when you shed the extra weight.

I worked at this one club in a different city about 3 years ago. I went back less than a month ago and tried to audition and they told me I was not thin enough (I was also about 15 pounds heavier than I was when I worked there before) and then they tried to say I had too many tattoos (the funny thing is I had exactly as many as I had the last time I went there. I haven't gotten any more sense) so I think they had a change of management that were a lot stricter about hiring than before, because this club also used to have girls who probably weighed a good 10-15 pounds more than I do now. So that can happen too. Clubs are known to either tighten up or relax on their standards as managers change.

Yea, just drop the weight and then you should be fine. If after that you get problems, then you might be getting the run-around. Managers always use the "you're too heavy line" even if that's not the real reason they don't hire you, the I don't know if that is the case here. Good luck!

The manager and I have been friends for a while, he was a door guy at another place I worked, it was his boss that said I was too heavy. I'm just going to focus and get back in shape. He actually came in the dive club im working at now and just threw a 100 stack on my stage and asked if we are good lol so I think it really just was my body, I was afraid they just didn't want me back there for some reason. Going to try again in a a month or two. Thank you guys!

Definitely weight is a huge issue now. I have a feeling it's why I got rejected from a couple places in my last city. Just saying....good luck & let us know how it goes...
