Tired How to deal with people recognizing you?

I just started a new club but the only problem is its local about 20 min from my home town. The money is extremely good compared to the other club I was at but I've already seen about three people I went to school with! It's so embarrassing for me because I try to hide this part of my life from pretty much everyone I know. It's made me really depressed to the point where I'm going to quit working at this club.. I hate that I have to do that. Does anyone else have this problem and how to deal with it?

Work the day shifts or hustle like hell to stay in the private area so you won't have to go on stage

There's probably three hundred threads here about this. I am not trying to brush you off- I just feel like you might want to search and get some more answers. You really only have two choices- own it or deny it's you. There is no reason for you to be embarassed and TBH since you have already been spotted; if they were going to tell people they would have by now so there is no point in not going in and losing money. However, they may not tell anyone either because they either didn't recognize you or didn't want to admit to being at a srip club; esp. of there is a chance their wife or girlfriend may have found out and it could cause them trouble.

Just deal with it. You work that close to home, you are going to run into people you know. Ignore them and do your Jon. Or, hustle them! Honestly most people don't care and guys don't viciously gossip like girls. They prob lay think it's cool af they " know" a stripper.

Or you could start wearing wigs and avoid working weekends when the younger crown is in.

I mean, I don't think there's a lot of avoiding running into people you know. Sure you can work quieter shifts etc, try and switch up your look, but unless you're a Russian spy, someone will prob still recognize you. But on the flip side - if the money is great, and you're happy working there, I'd say fuck it to anyone recognizing you - they don't pay your bills and they're also frequenting the place so it's like - who cares what they think.

I made the mistake of once getting so caught up on "what if I run into someone I know" that I totally shot myself in the foot when it came to earning, my bills went to hell and then depression really kicked in because digging yourself out of hole is horrible. No one is coming to save you - so make yourself happy and work somewhere you like - and try and push the dread of running into someone into your head, because bottom line you're dancing, but they're the ones paying

I work at a club that's about 15 mins my hometown, but luckily there's a huge population here, and we get a wide variety of customers including people from out of town. The only people I've run into who knew me were... other strippers. D: Which was mortifying, but not quite as bad as customers.

They're at the club, too, and if they're going to judge you for it, they're assholes who you should waste no time worrying about.

You can always change up your look, like wearing hair extensions only at work, or doing very heavy makeup. It will make you slightly less recognizable. And of course, keep an eye out for people you might know, so that you can avoid contact.

unless you believe they will out you to your family, just keep hustling. the damage is pretty much done already and i'm sure they told a few people. But these days stripping is so mainstream, so who cares? I'm sure you have a better job than they do.

Make yourself look different from your day to day look. People in my real life see my look as more conservative and less glam than at the club (no makeup, glasses). I've seen people at the club before and they haven't recognized me coz I changed my hair with wigs or clip in extensions, and wear dark makeup and contact lenses and I've walked right past people I knew without them noticing me. There's also an element of not recognizing someone who is in a place you don't expect to see them. Shortly after meeting my partner's parents I ran into them at a funeral that I didn't know they were going to. They started talking to me and I had no idea who they were.

Change your look. Wear a wig with the opposite of your natural hair colour. If you dont wear glasses, wear fake ones (or if you do wear glasses, wear contacts). Cover up your tattoos if you have any. Wear different makeup than what you would normally wear.

My best "stripper" friend was paranoid about being recognized. The one thing that I thought was genius that she did was to get a fake tattoo that she put on her forearm every night she danced. There's something you can put over it to make it stay on the whole night without fear of rubbing off. Plus she did the whole hair extension thing and different colored contact lenses.

She went so far as to Photoshop a pic of her and her doppelganger at a bar and post it on Facebook. From what she told me it worked, as a few guys she knew did approached her and would tell her that they ran into her twin.

Once my brother, who is married, found me at the club (at least I not on the stage and I was actually wearing something). He asked me "what are you doing here?". My reply was simple "what arw YOU soing here?" Needless to say, our secrets have been well kept.

^^^lol! Omg I would die! But hey good save once you turned it right back around on him.

If I were going to get caught I'd rather be just walking around hustling than on stage busting it wide open.

If you don't wanna be spotted by people you know, don't work in a place so close to people you know. That's really the only advice there is. Like another said above, either own it or leave. Personally, I found that people I used to know from outside of the club, would spend a TON of money on me in the club. It's some novelty thing that they know the stripper. My exes best friend spotted me in a club once and dropped a huge stack on dances for me. My ex himself spotted me when he was at a club with two of his friends, all three of them got dances with me. (that one was a bit awkward at first since it was my ex buuut whatever he paid my bills for the month!)

TLR moral of the story is, in this job you gotta either deal with running into people you know, or work far enough away from home, but that still will pose a risk.

This literally happened to me tonight, and I don't currently live in my hometown, but I wasn't recognized at work. I was recognized at school in a seminar of 8 students by a guest lecturer who spent a couple hours with me a little while ago at work... I knew he worked at a different university so I wasn't worried...We didn't out each other but it was still awkward as hell for the 2.5 hours I had to sit there talking about Shakespeare... I was so weirded out I went to work after class just so I wouldn't sit at home tonight dwelling on the terrifying vibes of shakespeare, shakespeare, this man has seen me twerk..... At least I made money

I feel like unless these are people in your family, they're probably not gonna talk to anyone who you really don't want to know and likely will tell no one at all. Don't make eye contact and work a different section of the club... remember you are a hot dancer making money in a shit economy at a job most people would never have the balls to do and that makes you a badass! That's probably what they think of you;$

I've never been recognized dancing but I have been outed and gossiped about as a massage girl and really do not care. When people confront me with questions , I tell them to go try it for themselves if they are curious about working. If they want to hear to funny stores, I tell them to go try it out if they are interested. I'm not free entertainment or there to holds anyones hand and everyone is always scared to take me up on my offers to come work ,so more for me then.
