Add tomato juice, cloves of garlic and the juice from one lemon to a sauce pan with your choice for something spicy. You want to make it as spicy as you can stand. The spicier the better! Bring it up to a boil on med. heat and they drink it hot. I normally run mine through a wire strainer so its just the juice im drinking. You can season with salt and pepper if you like.

You want to sip this hot and breath in the steam. I hate spicy food but when I make it I make it really spicy and eat toast while I drink it. Works a charm during cold season!

Do not order take out or go to restaurants. Cooks do not take time off when they have a cold. They work through it. Just FYI
Thankyou! I have a cold and this sounds EXACTLY what I need. Been off cam for a few days now and Im hating knowing that I can't earn as much

I asked my live-in housekeeper to go out and get me some fresh chicken soup, preferably with vegetables.
    She came back with........
A can of chicken noodle soup and a can of vegetables.
    Why? I asked her.
She said that fresh chicken soup isn't available here.

When I feel a bug trying to take hold of me, I immediately start taking Wellness Formula and do a Neti Pot session twice a day.
Wellness Formula (get the tablets as they are most effective), smell/taste horrible but if you start early enough and take the recommended dose of 3 tablets every three hours, this combined with using the Neti-Pot once in the morning and once in the evening will help me shake off a cold probably 80% of the time if I'm able to get some rest.

Fire cider is my favorite remedy to ward off illness. Rosemary Gladstar (an amazing herbalist) has instructional videos on how to make it on YouTube, though at its simplest it's raw Apple cider vinegar added to a jar of chopped onion, garlic, horseradish, ginger, a bit of cayenne and raw honey. You let it infuse for 4-6 weeks and strain. It's an amazing immune booster, you can tweak the recipe to your liking. I like to add a shot of it to a mug of warm water with honey and lemon. I drink it daily during flu season and more when I feel that tickle of a cold coming on. Actually, I need to go buy more horseradish root because I'm running low and I know my friends will be looking for some soon.

^^ I cured my asthma with ACV and I drink lemon in water everyday but a word to the wise drink it with a straw and rinse your mouth with baking soda afterwards or it really starts to wear on your teeth enamel.

Also I thought the "vitamin C" thing was all bullshit. Didnt science prove a long time ago that its just bs and there is no benefit to taking extra vitamin C?? As far as drinking Orange Juice, you might as well just drink a Coke! Less sugar. Your body for sure doesnt need all that extra sugar in it. Stay away from that stuff and just eat an orange!

To add: Another thing to avoid in flu season is buffet style restaurants. I have seen people sneeze and cough into their hands then grab the buffet spoons to load their plates. Just.. no.

I stopped shaking hands a few years ago, IMMEDIATELY after I caught a flu that turned into pneumonia .
I lost 2 months worth of income, lost my savings, because I had to live off it, and pay cash for my medical care.
When people extend their hand to shake it, I tell them it's flu season and I don't shake.
I don't care if it's the middle of July, I still say it.
When I got very sick, NOBODY even came by to drop off soup. Not even to drop it off outside my door.
I even paid my mailman to bring my mail to my door.
Screw shaking hands! People get it. Nobody's been offended. And if they were, idgaf.

So gross. Yes girl. I wash my hand or use sanitizer right before I eat cause we touch so many objects other people touched like door handles, buffet spoon handles, salt/pepper shakers/condiment bottles, menus.

And people coughing sneezing but covering with their hand then using same hand to touch stuff --- gross!!!! I always cough/sneeze in the inside of my elbow and turn my head away from people/food.

    I have mild OCD.

Thank you. I look at it this way. Nobody will be there for me when I'm sick, so f..k em' if they think its weird or impolite. But like I've mentioned, no one has ever said anything. #SelfCare. #SelfPreservation

Its weird. I actually started taking it cause I had bronchitis and I couldnt shake it. I got so desperate I decided I would try this old folk remedy. Cleared up the bronchitis in a couple of days, I started to feel normal after about two hours and then I just kept taking it every day for like 6 to 8 months. I dont know when I stopped cause I just reached a day when I just felt like I didnt want it that day. Now I take it when ever I feel a tingle in my throat or if I do catch a cold but I havent purchased an asthma inhaler in 8 years and there was a time when I had to have one with me at all times!

So I just take two tablespoons every morning before ANYTHING else. I would put it in a small shot glass and fill up the rest with water and drink it down as fast as I could through a straw (to protect my teeth) and then I would drink a cup of water after it. Then I would rinse my mouth with baking soda mixed in water to neutralize the acid. I started to get tooth pain before when I just drank it in water so that is why the straw and baking soda rinse.

If you go to earthclinic.com there are tons of people telling you how to take it and how well it works but basically there is no wrong way to take it! Just get it in you!

Thank you. I'm gonna have to suffer this weekend without my Zyrtec, because I don't even have a fucking dollar to get the generic Zyrtec from Dollar Tree.

Take at least 800I.E. Vitamin D per day, take a multivitamin and 1200mg N-Acetyl-Cysteine daily and you should be protected. NAC is scientifically proven to inhibit influenza virus replication.

I find that winter is the best time to really get into vitamins, so like maybe a multivitamin would be super helpful? Otherwise, vitamin c & d should be good enough.

I know that a lot of people don't get flu shots for a multitude of reasons, but I'm a believer. the past two years I've received mine & have only had very minimal illnesses in those two years, especially compared to years past. What made me decide to take the plunge was having black mold poisoning, which completely wrecked my immune system. Doctor said getting the flu would probably put me in the hospital for a while with my system as it was, so a prick in the arm was definitely better than an expensive hospital visit.

Other than that, I take a large variety of vitamins and supplements. d-mannose, iron, a multivitamin, sam-e, d, & biotin just to name a few. I love tart cherry juice for my joints as well.
