Default Just tried clip in extensions... they're too long and doesn't blend at all lmao. Help

So I got remy human hair extensions, 22 inches, and they're like 6-8 inches longer than my bra strap length layered hair and blatantly obvious. Now what? I heard of taking them to a professional to get it layered so it blends better with my hair, but is that the only way? I paid $250 for it and wanted to wear it as I grow my own hair out, will the hair extensions still be wearable once my hair gets longer than them?

I am very new to extensions lol help

Get your natural hair ends and the extensions layered by a professional, Matching the colors/highlights is also very important..I remember I got a diff shade of blond than my natural hair and it was obvious..if texture is also an issue I have a few suggestions.
They will still be wearable but will just add thickness once your hair gets longer than them obviously lol. How many wefts do you have? Is it cause it's so much thinner than your real hair?

You can layer them yourself. There are several youtube videos on how to do that. Just make sure you have sharp clean scissors, or buy a pair of haircutting shears that you're only going to use on hair. I cut my own extensions, and on the rare occasion that I've told people my hair is fake, they said they couldn't tell. But if you don't mind making a trip to any local inexpensive hair salon, you can easily get them blended for cheap.

The texture of new human hair extensions is usually very smooth and shiny, because it's treated with preservatives. I always wash them 2-3 times with shampoo and conditioner before I wear them, to get rid of the chemical smell and make them look a bit more like natural hair.

Once you get them layered, curling the extensions or at least running a straightener through them while they're clipped in, will help them blend.

They probably won't look right if you grow out your natural hair so that it's longer than the extensions.

The color/texture is similar to my natural hair. I just need to get it blended. Most people GOT to be layering them before they wear them, right? I can't imagine anyone just taking the extensions out of the package, clipping them on, and then just leaving the house like that. If I need to get it layered, I am taking it to a stylist. I don't want to fuck up my new hair lol.

What are wefts? It comes in 10 pieces with different amount of clips. It's 200g total, it gives me pretty good volume.

Wefts are just the individual clip in pieces, yeah. I staggered mine quite a bit and bought like two packages so he layering for mine was fine, it was the color/texture that needed adjustments.

I see girls all the time walking around with un-layered extensions & they look crazy af lol. definitely get them layered. & also depending on how many grams of hair you purchased, I wouldn't recommend wearing every single weft at the same time. that tends to look pretty wacky as well.

There are 200grams in 10 clips of hair, which I think is pretty thick compared to most other extensions (which are like 160g for a full head of hair). Thank god you mentioned not wearing all the clips at once, because I am a pretty small person and I was wondering if it was necessary to try to fit all that on my head.

Idk if you're still looking, hisandher.com has extensions.
They have some stuff on sale.
I ordered a wig from them today.

I have a few unblended sets of extenstions. I like having a different set for each style so they can last longer - layered set, wavy set, straight set etc.

To make unblending work I lay them all out side by side in one long horizontal row and cut off across the row however many inches I need gone. When they are brand new I can only wear them when my own hair is freshly washed and straightened (super stick straight). As they get more worn out it doesn't take as much effort to make them match my natural hair.

Also you might need to use more wefts than normal higher up to cover the layers in your own hair until it gets a bit longer.

I used to wear clip ins for years and never wore them unblended. I either had a professional do it or a friend who cuts hair do it for me. It makes a HUGE difference once someone thins them out & blends them into the rest of your hair. Maybe add some layers too. If you spent that much on extensions I would definitely go to a professional so it's done right.

Mine are all cut by a girl who works at a wig place, she places them in, cuts them and numbers them so you know where they go etc.
The blending makes a big difference. And really its just a haircut you're paying for.
