    Default Stripping and Chronic Pain

Hi all, my name is Vivian and I'm brand new to this board. I'm considering starting stripping next spring/summer (I'm in college currently) in order to support myself as well as save money. I'm a Canadian and have been accepted to a US university on the condition I get good grades in my current college program. As you know, being an international student isexpensive, so I'd love to save as much money as possible without taking out loans, and spend this year getting in shape, etc. Only thirty pounds from goal (already down 100!)

I suffer from chronic pain. Not terrible, but I herniated two discs a while back and as a result have frequent lower back, knee, and hip pain and less frequently nerve pain. I've signed up for some pole dancing classes and hope to spend the school year learning a thing or two with dancing. I love the idea of pole dancing because its low impact. In addition to this, would taking physiotherapy help me prepare for a job in dancing? I plan to practice getting used to heels around the house, etc.

Are there any other dancers with chronic pain? If so, how do you combat it? Do you have any suggestions for me to prepare for dancing?

lots of water and epsom salt epsom salt epsom salt lol. my vanilla job is a massage therapist so i can give you a couple tips to help with your pain (of course since i dont know the severity of the pain and condition of your body use with caution) low back pain is generally caused by tightness in your glute minimus or medius muscles which are muscles at the very tip of you butt that go out around the hips or lack of strength in the abdominals so since i suffer low back pain i tend to work my abs more but since you have a herniated disk i would only do planks but make sure you are in good form so youre using your abs and definitely stretch your glute min. & med muscles so a stretch like warrior one in yoga would be a good example. depending on where the pain is in your knee and hip those exercises make help too but make your legs are well stretched to prevent any awkward pulling on any tendons around the hip and knee joint.

Hey. Sounds like you have a good plan and I wish you lots of luck! One thing I would say is that you should talk to a medical professional about starting pole dancing. I find it to be pretty hard on my joints and is not a thing I would do if my job didn't require it. I prefer to work at clubs where stage isn't very important. Maybe other people's experiences are different but if you don't want to make things worse, I would talk to a professional.

Are you planning on working in Canada and then going to the states for university or working when you get to the states? I ask because Canadian clubs and American ones vary a lot. There are clubs in both countries where you can opt out of doing stage work if it's hard on your body. I find lap dances in no contact clubs to be harder on my body than clubs where you're allowed to sit on someones lap. It's a lot of work dancing and not being able to rest by leaning/sitting on a customer.

Some clubs offer a lot of flexibility in terms of schedules, so you can work when you feel well. There are areas in which the clubs are siper strict about schedules.

Good luck and congrats on loosing 100 lbs!
