I'm giving myself a budget & wanna only spend a little on food while I bust my ass this next month doing camathons. I usually go to the market & get things to cook here but then there are the days I want take out.. How much do you guys spend on food usually? When you're doing camathons do you normally just stock up on food at home & just take small breaks?

I no longer do camathons but when I did; they were just for the night. I would just make it like I had a 'girl's night in' to myself and grab the essentials. Redbull pack of 4 (cranberry), 2 bags of personal sized chips, bag of gummy worms or jolly ranchers, pack of smart water, chocolate or cookies/something sweet. Any extras I need like baby wipes, paper towels, etc. If I've decided not to eat out that week; I do normal meals and or skip dinner and space my snacks out over the hours. I'd say I probably spend an average of $30 on camathons. Totally worth the investment if it's a great night.

Not a whole lot if Im trying to come up with money. Hence the reason Im doing a camathon My advice is to stock up on things that will give you a lot of energy and keep you going. Nothing heavy that will weigh you down. When I need to batten down the hatches I get stuff like a rotisserie chicken, fresh fruit:pears and oranges are my fav. cheese and crackers, peanut butter and jelly on high fiber bread Arnolds Health Nut bread is great. All of these things are filling and inexpensive. Oh and green tea for a pick me up. I get cray cray when I drink coffee.

I'm the same, in the sense that certain days I like having carry out. normally I spend right around $120 on groceries per week and keep 40-60 on hand for a pizza or three. Some of that is from purchasing organic produce, local items, higher end cured meats, and cheese so I could probably get away for $30-40 less if I didn't buy those items. I do a lot of crock pot recipes, which helps when you need a hot dinner and don't feel like cooking all day. typically I buy a lot a veggies, some fruit, hummus, sunflower seeds, a couple small block of cheese I like, individual yogurts, and some crackers. I prep the veggies and put them in bags, so i can grab them and be ready. I also cut up the cheese so I can have cheese and crackers any time.

As far as crock pot stuff, curries, soups, pastas, and casseroles are awesome! it's nice to toss a bunch of things in when you wake up and have dinner ready by 5. most recipes take 15 minutes max to prep and you have at least 4 servings of food once you're done. pinterest has tons of great ones. certain things freeze well too, which helps on nights you don't want to cook.

I'm in the same boat. I like going to the Asian markets and getting a bunch of ramen I've never heard of. definitely found some serious winners (and a couple losers lol). I like doctoring them with some mushrooms, green onions, and a poached egg on top.

For health reasons, I limit my eating out especially when working hard. You can't always be certain your meal will be healthy.

Caught a super bad stomach bug last year mid camathon. It was from a combination of poor sleep patterns and eating take out for every meal. My entire stomach was on fire and I lived on the toilet for days. (Note to self: collard greens should never taste carbonated) I really had to work at getting healthy after that. My body was so stressed out, my skin looked horrible, I was bloated. Now I try and limit my meals out maybe once or twice a week. But if I'm working, I'm eating at home. No questions asked. sandwiches are amazing and always satisfying. When you prepare more food it just becomes habit and gets easier

I try to keep it under $20 a day ( I know that's high-ish ) but that's a combo of simple eating like fruits / cereal , making simple food, making more complex food, and having food made FOR ME by chefs I've probably digitally stalked awhile. Haha. Eating out is one of my greatest joys and hobbies .

Ya I was only spending like $30 for groceries to hopefully last me a week but I have a feeling after I eat what I cooked today, I'll have to go back marketing by Fri. I try to get cheap meal ideas for when I get sick of eating ham/turkey sandwiches that I just wake up & reheat & hop on cam. Yes to that energy stuff x10!!!! I prepare my coffee plus Monster & whatever else I want in between. I sometimes worry that I'm consuming too much caffeine tho during these camathons.

Nothing beats fresh ramen noodles, after you try them, you'll never eat the dry stuff again. You can buy fresh ramen from the refrigerated areas at any Asian supermarket. Some come with broth packages or you can use chicken/pork broth and add veggies, egg, and meats.

For healthy, energizing snacks I love Larabars and Kind bars. Also, roasted pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, almonds, walnuts, avocado toast, Greek yogurt, cheese, almond butter and apple butter on sourdough, fruits like bananas, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, fruit cups, apple sauce, boiled eggs, tea eggs, ready prepared chicken breast chunks, hummus, baba ganouche with gluten free crackers, pineapple chunks, etc.

Tinned fish is also great like tuna, sardines, mackerel. Great with hot steamed rice and kimchi. Quick and nutritious.

A spoonful of raw honey with a slice of lemon in warm (not hot) will give you a huge energy boost. Also, taking dessicated liver will give you sustained energy.

I make chicken soup and cook another meal (chicken in the oven or whatever). So, I only heat them up and that's it.
I am thinking at some camathons when I come back from vacation...

Why not deviled eggs? They are easy and cheap to make, a good source of protein and also it will give a "special, party" feel to your camathon.
Here is the recipe I use (for 6 eggs so adjust accordingly) to mix with the yolk

2 tablespoons of mayo. 1 scant tablespoon of powdered yellow mustard (meaning not quite a tablespoon, just a tad less). 1 teaspoon of worcestershire sauce. A dash of hot sauce. A little salt & pepper. Sprinkle with paprika once you have stuffed your eggs whites

If you wrote a cookbook on healthy snack ideas, I'd buy it.
Can't wait to try the fresh noodles, and the honey with lemon.

Rotisserie chicken is also perfect for topping salads through the week. It saves time so you don't have to cook up fresh chicken for them.

I sometimes plan slow cooker meals for busy weeks and freeze the leftovers. Catching sales and breaking the bulk down into portions that way saves money.

OMG yes I made some yummy homade chicken soup from this & lasted for a few days. Yes I also try to shop at lower end grocery stores bc if I am buying some sort of meat, I usually get a much better deal than the main chain places. Dollar Tree has been awesome for a few things here & there.

I really like ants on a log or lettuce wraps with turkey or ham and other veggies and a nice dressing. Or Vietnamese spring rolls with peanut sauce if you make a bunch ahead of time. Yummy healthy stuff that'll give you energy but not make you feel bloated.
