    Dizzy Acrylic Nail Recovery.

I am currently in Acrylic Nail rehab.
I say 2/5 of my nail is healthy/grown out. The rest? Ugly as hell.
I'm currently keeping them moisturized with castor oil and painting them with a base coat and topping them with 3 layers of matte polish. I know that nail hardeners make them brittle and easier to snap off. That's the extent of my knowledge. Oh and water weakens it and pushes the layers of the nail bed apart.

How many of you are considering doing this in the future?
Methods of making your hands presentable while recovering?
    How long did it take?

You could try this. It worked well for me when I went through acrylic recovery. I don't remember how long it took them to grow out completely. You can get it at Ulta and probably Target or CVS if you don't want to order it.

Vitamins, I'm taking Tr Joe's Women's vitamins for hair, skin & nails, like $3.99 for 60 I think
I only took usually one per day (recommedation is 2) & my nails are long

I just bought the Hair & Nails vitamins. I'm going to avoid doing anything extreme for a while. Keeping them short for maybe another month until they fully recover. Probably keep them painted for 3 days at a time and 1 nurturing day in-between.

The Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle was really helpful too. I noticed longer nails in under a week.
This is why I buy gummy multivitamins, I probably wouldn't take them otherwise!

yup, sally hansens growth miracle. I use the one in the gold bottle and this is INSANE how fast it makes your nails grow.

Hair & Nails vitamins, that sally hansen stuff is pretty good too - also, I know a nail salon is probably the last place you want to go, but I would suggest going to a nice one maybe once or twice a month to get a regular water or spa manicures, with regular polish or even none. Cuticle care, moisturizing with oils/vitamin E and proper filing will help I was a nail tech for a few years and have gone through acrylic recovery a few times

A diet higher in healthier fats has done wonders for my nails. I'd also recommend vitamin d supplements. There are a few nail products that I really like that you just rub into the nail. I've had better results with them than the ones you paint on. One is CND Nail Rescue RX. Smells delicious too. The other is Sally Hansen VitaSurge. Push your cuticles back with an oil and orange stick. My nails normally peel a lot, but sticking to higher fats, vitamin d supplements, and some sort of topical rub-in solution has helped a lot.

Agree that cuticle care helps make your nails look better even if they're short and in recovery. Apply cuticle remover and push back with an orange stick = nail beds look longer and groomed.

I did fake nails for like 8 years!, it took 2 years for them to be fully normal i.e. Grow long without breaking. Opi nail oil is good for months it was all I used made them look normal at least. I had to keep them short for so long and now I actually prefer shorter.

I would also get shellac/ gel polish in the meantime while they grow out. I did that and not only did it not damage my nails but it actually made them a bit healthier.
