Sad Should I contact the police?

    Hi Ladies,

Got myself into a bit of bother today....

To cut a very long story short - a guy contacted me via CMD. Claimed he couldn't pay with his American Express card and asked if could he get me something from my Amazon wishlist. He sounded decent. Told him didn't have a list, the only thing I needed was a new laptop.

He said he'd get it for me, the only thing he was after was a 'girlfriend experience'. Things started to get weird when I noticed all these lies he was telling me. My gut told he was a scammer, so I apologised and told him to cancel the order. He got mad and started threatening and abusing me.

He said he now had my address and should teach me a lesson (but said he wouldn't). I apologised again but he seemed to get a kick out of it. In the end I told him to cancel the order and blocked him.

I know I've been stupid but should I go to the police because he knows my address and has threatened me?!

There's really nothing that they will be able to do for you.
In the future NEVER EVER give anyone your address or info no matter how "decent" they seem. As you can see it's very easy for people to fake decency before they show their true colors.
You can also get your account removed from CMD for trying to take payments off-site so I wouldn't suggest that anymore, either.

As a general rule of thumb I treat everyone who refuses to or claims to be unable to pay me via the site they found me on as a scammer.

I know...I messed up. I don't think they'll be able to do anything either. The guy said he would cancel it and apologised for threatening me. It's just a horrible feeling tbh. I've been getting a lot of abuse lately from camming, so think I was at a slight low ebb today.

Get a PO box or mailing service for your gifts.

In my opinion, cam models should not have an Amazon Wishlist BEFORE a PO box.

It's an investment of your safety and well being. What's a gift if u now have to look over your shoulder every day?

Protect yourself. If you don't invest into your safety, hiring a lawyer and filing a restraining order is upwards of $500. You pay money either way to succeed in this industry.

Good luck and please get a PO box if you are accepting gifts

He's not going to do shit. Most cam dudes are punks in real life. Get a p.o.box and don't let it bother you.
I had one dude by the name of Paink1ller attempt to hack my cam years ago and even tried to blackmail me - didn't work.
Sometimes all it takes it logging off and ignoring. But yeah get a p.o.box pronto.

I agree with others that nothing bad is likely to happen. If he had the balls to ruin girls' lives, he would do it in person, not sitting behind a computer.

It sucks, but you can't trust anyone with personal information in this business.

DO NOT apologize for anything, block him and drop all contact..even if allowed, outside payment is not a good idea. They are unlikely to spend their time worrying about someone's information when there is no reaction.

Another good thing about having a P.O Box is that if you are using it for work then it is a tax write-off.

Just a word of caution - here in the UK, PO box numbers that are supplied via the Post Office/Royal Mail are NOT private. Anyone can request the PO box holder's details.

Go through a private company who offers mailing solutions, and make sure there's no "we can tell any old weirdo your address" clause in the contract.

Buy some mace for starters and don't go anywhere (even your garbage can) without it. Clearly you recognize that you messed up, so make sure you don't do anything like this in the future. get a po box, make a deliverycode wishlist, only accept gift cards and not gifts; whatever makes you feel safe. I may also get some backlash for this, but I'd look into moving if you don't have 24hr surveillance at your current residence and/or you live alone. I personally know a cammer who had a custie fly from Germany & show up on her doorstep in the US because he wanted to meet her after getting her address off of her wishlist. NOOOOOO thank you!

For anybody else who needs lessons in stranger danger, I'll defer you to this cute gif

Yes, I think mace might be classed as fire arm in the UK so don't buy any of that - In- sett hairspray is not illegal though & its super sticky & it stings like crazy if you get it in the eyes x

Also be careful with POs, I have read that POs are usually located in the city you live in....so even if they have a PO, it will still be going to your or a nearby city!!

BambiCutie is right. Fuck him. He sounds like an asshole trying to get a reaction. And I've learned from reading posts like this that wish lists or gift cards or any "gift" is only that and should never EVER be payment for anything. If they can't "pay" like a regular human being then fuck off. I just ask for Amazon e-gift cards. All they require is your email address then. And they are gifts, never payment. A real man has a damn credit card.

True I'm so glad for forums like this. I read it all first. Taught me to never take a "gift" as payment. And as far as gifts go to only ask for e-gift cards. No wish list. I can pick out my own shit thank you

OP, get a cheap virtual office in the UK and pick up your mail once a week.Usually, a virtual office has an receptionist that takes calls and mail for you. This way, you do not have to deal with such things. Now, the receptionist is often either comes with the virtual office package or you might have to pay a bit extra. A PO box might not be right for you in the UK but you can always get a virtual office for 25 to 300 dollars per month. Special note: only get the high-end virtual offices if you are going to do some major business in your virtual office.

Did you save his threatening email? If you are worried about him then it might be worth the hassle of reporting him to the police. They usually won't do anything though until he's actually committed a crime but Cyber bullying and making on- line threats is a crime really.

Men like this make my blood boil - Its unlikely he's going to turn up at your place. In my experience men that bully and threaten women tend to spineless losers that you'd probably kick the shit off if you had too - Try and not worry about the stupid idiot x

Thank you so much ladies. Means a lot. I think in future, I'll make a wishlist but ask for giftcards. Sounds like the easiest thing. @Kristen_Krystal - Yeah, I have all his emails and stuff. It was all done via Skype.

The thing that worries me most is he gave his Amazon details to make the purchase. I made a note of his address and name. (Or what I thought was his name/address) I checked on Google and it's definitely not the guy he's claiming to be on Skype and on social. That's why I'm worried all this could be some sort of Fraud? I spoke to him once, he was very cagey about showing his face or even telling me anything about himself. But he sounded Australian, but again wouldn't even confirm that. He was just abusing me and threatening and being very manipulative. I couldn't be bothered in the end, so told him to cancel the order and then blocked him.

well, I have had swat teams come to my house because of camming.. so I wouldn't worry so much.. the thing is, most guys are NORMAL ... and they don't want to risk their lives being in trouble for you.. so try not to worry to much about it... most people don't want to go to prison.

If I was you I'd unblock & if he contacts you again just save all his emails but don't reply.

You've got a choice - you can report to the police because he has frightened & he's upset you. If you do choose to report it to the police then don't tell anyone - Keep it to yourself because he could read these boards (Probably doesn't but you never know) Make him sweat!

You know now you made a misjudged the guy and never give out any personal details no matter how nice they sound & maybe look into using a VPN for your Indi Skype shows to also hide your IP address - just remember to turn off the VPN when you work on regular sites like AW - cause its not allowed and you don't need it on there.

He may well be Australian and he's probably not even in the UK.

There's a lot of very strange people with some very weird personality disorders out there and he sounds like one of them & they get off on trying to annoy you & scare you - You just can't understand their mentality.

Its unlikely he's going to turn up at your house - Uk is a small little Island & it wouldn't be that easy for him to turn up at your home and harm you in anyway without him ending where he should be - in jail!

I hope you feel a bit better about it now xxx
