    Default Juvederm never lasts long!!

I've been getting my lips filled with restalyne (didn't like so much) and now juvederm since the spring. My lips are veryyyy thin naturally. The problem is, the fillers make my lips look great at first, but I swear they go down noticeably in THE FIRST WEEK!! I can never really get them to how I want, and I literally have to go for upkeep every 2 months TOPS.

I have a really fast metabolism so that may be part of it. I just feel like I'm throwing away money.

Do any of you ladies have experience with the lip implant or silikon 2000? There are permanent silicone lip injections that have good reviews on real self...with the implant, I don't want people I kiss to be able to feel it.

You can micro drop the silicon 1000 or similar.
It's normal for you to notice a significant drop in volume within the first few days (with juvederm etc) - which really sucks - I love my initial result but hate the result then the swelling goes down.

It become hard to maintain the right volume with juvederm etc I'm kinda tired of it. I just sat tonight looking for someone good in NYC to go to this week, but it'll prob end up in the same frustrations

    Messaged you, arielbriel! Thanks!

@persian, I don't like how swollen they are at first, but the first couple days or so after that subsides I love it. And then it goes down again! A bit. I mean there is a difference but idk why it doesnt "stick" for me like it does for others

I got juvederm as a facial filler, like 4 years ago and it is still there. Might be something with your body. I also got my own fat in my lip and it is more or less permanent, so maybe try a different procedure?

Its weird all the juverderm is gone from my bottom lip ... but still stays in my top a little.
Ariel your recommendation is perfect - I just checked out his work and it's the exact look I wanted

The juvaderm I got three years ago is still in my nose! So yeah depends on the person and the place they inject it. I hear lips are just about the worst place for long lasting results.
I've heard good things about fat transfer for lips, was it pricey??

^^^ Nope. I didn't pay a dime, I was getting lipo and right before I went under it occurred to me that be was going to throw the fat away and asked him if he would do it for me. The only thing I would say was bad about it is the area around my top lip (like the skin that covers the teeth and is between your nose and lip?) swelled up and I looked like Donald Duck for an entire month. My best friends' mother was freaking out that it was not going to go down.

Op_ I missed that you had asked about the implant. I do know one person that had this procedure like 10 years ago. Not sure if it has gotten better since then. Her lips look really good now (just saw a photo of her) but when she initially did it you could see where the implant ends on the sides. Kind of like a breast implant. It went in initially pretty hard and took some time to settle.

Don't do that. I did that and it hardens all the time for people. I had a reconstructive surgeon redo my lips and luckily insurance covered it but only because the surgeon did not disclose to insurance that it was silicone and put that it was cyst removal. It's freestanding silicone without a shell so it's equivalent to a leaking silicone breast implant.

^^ yeah that's what I was worried about. Plus all the problems that freeflowing silicone can cause. Glad you are not in that situation anymore velveteen!!

And yes I don't like the idea of the implant either. The juvederm lasts a lot longer in my bottom lip than top. A friend of mine, she's a bit older though, says her fillers last 6mos-a year. Not sure why I go through them. I love the look though!! Maybe cause I have such thin lips naturally i keep wanting to do more? Like i want to to go again but I've already have two treatments in maybe 1.5 months! And before that it had been maybe like 4 months since my last.

Anyone had fat transfer? I'm sure you don't need to take much for a small area like the lips!

But I also don't have much or anything to lipo..I don't even think a doctor would hear me out. I haven't looked into it really so I don't know what the specifics are

There are several different types of juvaderms, just they'll dumb it down for you and push the one that yields them the most profit. Also the age of the juvaderm is important. I find most offices aren't receptive to any questions regarding any of this because their goal is profit and to do things their way (profit). Yes also genetics has a bit to do with it.

The only thing that's left on my surgery wishlist is a fat transfer to lips. Probably several rounds. Doctors don't want to offer this procedure though and it makes me so mad lol

I tried Aquamid in my lips as they were very thin previously. It's a more permanent filler and still needs topping up now and again but it lasts a lot longer. I had mine done in Bayswater in London and was pretty pleased with the result although it still goes down a lot when the swelling subsides.

I heard fat transfer to the lips disappears very fast. There are very few places where fat cells can survive, butt being the most optimal and ALOT of it dies in the butt. I suppose if you're getting a BBL anyways it doesn't hurt to add a bit to the lips but don't expect it to last.

I've been doing extensive research on juvederm because I'm considering getting it for the laugh lines next to my mouth. I've heard it works better for your face than it does for your actual lips. My friend had the same issue you did....she has always had naturally very thin lips and got juvederm to make them fuller. Her lips are still fuller than they were and I still see a difference because they were almost nonexistent before but they are definitely not nearly as full as they were the first week after the surgery. I think juvederm for the lips is more of meant for a subtle more natural difference and not a drastic one. You're definitely better off getting the more permanent lip implants if you want a more dramatic effect.

I got juvederm in the lines between my nose and mouth and in some creases in my forehead. It has stayed for over 4 years. My lips look good still too but I kind of fucked them up from smoking cigarettes and need to get it fixed a little bit now that I have quit.

So I just read fat grafting stays a lot better than just just the fat Injections/transfer?? I guess there's a difference?? I have full lips (the bottom lip is very full) but I wanna just kind of accentuate them a bit more since it's one of my few good features I feel.

Yea, the fat injec/xrnsfr is when they take fat out of one place in you & put it somewhere else..but I hear not so great stuff about that too..

I believe fat grafting/transfer/injections are all the same thing. The dr first has to graft/harvest the fat, then he transfers it to the butt via injection. Go on real self.com and start doing some research if this is something you want to seriously do.

Yeah they say the injections are still the best option, and if it's leaving your lips that fast, that means that they didn't inject enough in th first place (and what you initially saw was just swelling) or injected it way too deep and don't know what they're doing. Also restalyne and juvaderm both stimulate natural collagen production so you SHOULD be able to do less and less as time goes on..if you have super thin lips your gunna need a bit.
If you smoke that can degrade it a lot faster too. I can't wait to get my tax return cause I'm gunna go for it, but ask for something a little longer lasting than juvaderm

Mine has stayed and it has been about 4 years. I will be redoing them to correct the damage from the ciggarettes and also because I only did my top lip and my new botox guy said the ratio is supposed to be 60/40 with the bottom lip fuller. They never bothered me like they are but this Dr. is like the pope to me now so I'm going with what he says. (yes I know that sounds crazy)

Juvederm Ultra XC is the one the company recommends for lips since its a slightly thinner consistency (and therefore spreads more evenly) but has a lower percentage of cross linking compared to Juvederm Ultra Plus XC and doesn't last quite as long. Next time specifically ask for the Plus version and it should last a bit longer. & since its a thicker formulation you tend to get a more noticeable result with less product

What do you mean by cross linking??
