the uncanny valley is strong in this. Though the US and Japan also have just as realistic and just as creepy, made worse when some of them have early stage AI and can hold random conversations >.<

im also wondering how long till real doll tries to adopt a VI system for their already creepy as fuck dolls

So many industries are already replacing human workers with robots and self serve computer terminals. I wouldn't be surprised if someone somewhere was working on making a realistic looking sex bot to replace human sex workers.

^I don't really have any fear of glorified flesh lights replacing my job. I'd say if any job is safe from robot take over, sex worker or other jobs requiring human contact, real conversation, and connection is one of them.

Bahuba, that is such a good point!! I heard a story on Satellite radio today about a self-driving truck (like tractor trailer); I see that taking 6 years to implement in places where truckers do not have unions; period.

6 years is a pretty ambitious time frame - I foresee people being more afraid of malfunctioning trucks, think of the damage they could do. I agree with you though, automization is inevitable.

I think it's really important to pick a profession that you know won't be taken over by robots or computers, thus leaving you out of the workforce. Because that's a real thing.

this is a thing, but ive seen a few other articles over the years of some governments discussing and debating how to enforce or regulate or practices with droid based brothels.. and yeah while a person is great, if you think about it the people looking just to get off may not always care about conversation or the human touch at that very moment. Things like body heat scent, can all be replicated, but they can also be made to do things the human body can never do - and even conversations can be a common thing too as AI progresses- so no even the sex industry isn't immune forever

Anybody see the movie, "Her"? The above article explains how that's already happening. Lonely dudes are falling in love with Siri and Cortana.

As far as losing jobs, Velvetteen.Rabbit is correct.

This factory went from 600 empoyees to 14, because of robots:

As for any future career plans, here are the twenty "safest" jobs (according to PC mag)

And here are the ones most in danger of being robotized:

You guys are worried about robots taking over sexworker jobs? TBH I think that's a very very very real thing that will happen. Heres why:

The refutes to that concept are saying "guys want real human contact!" Here's the thing. Providers already lie and say their pics are 100% real and 100% them when they aren't. How do you know that people who own human-like robots aren't going to write the same thing in their ads? "100% REAL, not a robot!!" And then a robot whose ultra realistic shows up. He's not going to decline her, especially after already paying upfront like expected.

These robots will be ultra realistic physically. A guy won't be able to tell her apart from someone whose not a robot. He pays upfront. Think about the technology we have now like talk-to-text and Siri. In 5 years the technology we will have will be insanely ultra realistic.

Vanilla jobs require a social security number that must be verified. Robots will not have these. Social security numbers are not required for most adult work. With cam, sure they are but there are already MadisonQT bots everywhere that are fake and guys think they're real lol.

TBH, with the current trends of sexwork, that's why I pursued a lucrative vanilla career. It's basically on that list of most secured careers.

I feel like everyone's heads are in the clouds lol. I dated someone 16 years ago whose parents owned a photography business with a brick-and-mortar store and they made INSANE money and lived in a really wealthy area of the Bay Area in a million dollar something house, and this was before the tech boom money era. Their passion was photography and they offered photography services as well as developing and all kinds of in-demand services.

A few years ago, I drove by the store and saw it was completely gone and out of business. Googled online and it was closed. Googled him and his family and they sold their house, moved away, and retired from anything photography-related. Photography services were not in demand anymore due to the random digital technology era that came out of no where unannounced. Everyone could take their own quality pictures and video with no need for developing, especially at high prices. I saw online that everyone in his family (it was a family business) had to pick a completely new career path and start completely over. I never want that to happen to me. It's scary and wastes so many lost years and years of lost wages.

^^ No way! Even just 35 years ago was 1981. No one even really owned a computer then. The public internet aka AOL wasn't even a thing until like 20 years ago and look how far we have come in just 20 years! This kind of technology will be around in 10 years, if not now.

The wealthy and elite, aka the ones who have access to this technology, may keep it to themselves for awhile so they can profit off it first though. And just not tell us. The wealthy and elite are shady and hate dealing with public reactions. Remember Dolly the cloned sheep from like 1997? Funny how we never heard about cloning again after that, now 20 years later! It's because the public flipped out so now they do all that shit on the down low. It didn't just stop lol.

Not only that, but technology works like an avalanche (snowball effect) where it increases in speed as time goes on. More technology leads to more crazy advancements at a rapid rate. It doesn't work like a train where it's a steady progression because if that were the case, we wouldn't have gone from no public internet for tens of thousands of years to basically the internet functioning as an external (via device like cell phone) instant endless brain with access to all the knowledge of the world at any time.

We have come that far in just a couple decades. We also are living in modern day Avatar where we now have avatars of us living inside computers that will never die. It's called social media.

I don't think anyone realizes how insane all of this technology is because it's all they know. Ironically I was just thinking about telepathy today and thought "Wouldn't it be funny if telepathy could easily be achieved by implanting a miniature smartphone device into someone since it's easier than carrying around and losing a cell phone... A cell phone that every single person basically has to have in order to survive these days. Siri can read our voice so what's to say in 5 years that Siri couldn't read our mental thoughts since we can hear ourselves think. That's telepathy!"

I think forward thinking camgirls might be able to take advantage for a while. Imagine this scenario:

Regular cam girl talking and controlling some kind of interface on one end.

Dude on the other end is experiencing a VR version of his favorite porn star (including voice and motion emulated by camgirl), VR full contact (controlled by camgirl) with more or less realistic feeling "suit" over certain areas.

That isn't more than 5 years away, if that. Most of it already exists.

BUT, since I believe more people (even dudes) could "operate" it on the camgirl side (voice augmentation, etc) that camgirl wages would drop significantly.

^ They have all of that already. I've worn almost every adult hat in this industry over my decade so I'm pretty knowledgeable.

The first is called realtouch interactive and has been around for like 3 year now. Semi popular but not really because the equipment is pricey and takes awhile to set up. A pornstar I know also has a viritual reality company too but it's still pretty new and I believed it's called VR. I'm not sure if she's decided on a final name, but it's been in beta.

Also, most pornstars these days only do porn so they can promote escorting and go on tours. It's easy to buy time with your favorites. Not to mention there's copyrights with their image if they were holographed on cam. Pornstar tessa taylor aka madisonQT has learned her lesson with signing over rights. She's been around for like 7 years now, a moderately high earner on streamate. She makes no profit off madisonQT who is online like 24/7 playing loops for big cam money. But the guy she signed the rights to of footage of her prancing around and teasing? He's making the profit and has been for the last 7 years. There's like 10 other of those bots, too, and the sites know about it.

Velveteen Rabbit's initials are ... VR! woooooOoooooOOOOoOOOOOOOooooo

I was thinking about direct brain interfaces just the other day. Everyone will "know" you upon sight, your name and your public info. You'll also be able to look up anything you see. Downside, your thoughts, or at least those able to be interpreted, will be available to gov, LE, etc.

They are already making headway digitizing dreams by tracking brainwaves produced by visual stimulus. When those same brainwaves appear during REM, it is assumed a similar visual is being experienced.

Once we can crack the code to reproduce the human brain and the images it projects, especially when connected to thoughts, its game over lol. They will integrate that into computers and it will become authentic artificial intelligence. We are definitely on our way if not already secretly there.

^^thats two times you mention secretly - just my humble opinion, I deal with a lot of the "elite" like UN, global NGOs, and national leaders, and honestly they know about as much on this stuff as you and I do, if not less. They have power, but it doesn't teach them about robots. Don't get me wrong many of them are arrogant jerks with no more concern about common people than Haley's comet, but they don't know much about robots.

^^able to pass a Turing test, maybe, but I very much doubt smarter. Right now we've only got to cockroach level intelligence. Unless there's a Newton level genius out there. Kurzweil, who made that prediction, works for Google now.
