    Default Niacin?

Hi, just started taking this, figured it couldn't hurt. Was wondering if anyone had any weird side effects or anything they wish they knew before starting, assuming they researched it. I promise I'm not asking to be spoon-fed information, just looking for.... additional weirdness, for lack of better wording? Thanks in advance

Niacin is good for weight loss (especially on a less than 30 grams of carb diet a day), because it accelerates ketosis which puts the body on fat-burning mode. It first halts ketosis, and then releases a surge of fatty acids into the system which gets burn off. I am on a diet of egg whites and egg white omelets with maybe bacon.

Word of caution; don't overeat protein (over 120 grams); protein turns into carbs, which turns off ketosis, which halts the fat burning process.

Also, niacin can help with cholesterol levels, prevent heart attacks.

It also helps with growth hormones. I take it before I work out.

Also, use in a sauna, it detoxes yourself by purging out all the fatty acids (toxins) that your body has. This was a treatment use for firefighters got contaminated by the September 11th smoke.

Also, niacin also helps mental issues like schizophrenia and dementia.

Don't take more than 6000 grams of Niacin, it's not good for the liver. 4000-5000 is used for heart patients like who desperately need to lower their cholesterol.

Also taking an aspirin 30 min to 1 hr before will prevent flushing. Aspirin is also good for the heart and blood vessels. Aspirin also prevents cancer.

Take the flushing one because the slow release causes liver damage.

Be cautious of eating a lot of carbs while taking niacin, because the fact that niacin holds onto all the fatty cells and such... and when release causes insulin spikes.

That's why diabetics can't really take niacin. It's not that niacin causes diabetes (in fact help prevents it), but an uncontrolled environment, it's not wise.

Most niacins I see are now read "flush-free" on the label. The flush/heat can be uncomfortable, and even a little unsettling to the stomach.

One lesser known benefit: for anyone that tans in beds, that flush is giving you more bang for your buck. It's very similar to using a "tingle" lotion, but cheaper.

I had a friend who took to before a piss test. She only noticed her skin becoming super red for a while after taking it, but it subsided.
