I can not find a relevant thread so I am going to start a new one; hopefully someone has had a similar experience or some basic medical training. Last Friday I twisted my ankle really good (walking in sneakers is so hard!). I came off a carnival ride and kind of tripped over the edge of the pavement while walking a little fast.
It is not broken because I can stand on it but it does hurt pretty bad. On Saturday night I went to a Halloween event and walked around with it taped up; it was hurting but I made it trough the night. It is purple on the side of my foot (I read that this is from blood from tearing the tendons) but it is swollen pretty badly still; more on my foot that the actual ankle. The one side looks like a pregnant lady foot and my other ankle is it's normal skinny self. I am trying to do the RICE method; and since I work from home I cam literally put my foot up with ice as long as I want to.. I am not sure if I should keep taping it though. I know it is not going to heal over night but I am trying to see if it still being swollen 5 days later is "normal" and how long I should expect to have swelling and pain. I really do not want to go to the Dr. to have them tell me to do the same thing I am doing.
Thanks in advance.
