    Default Ankle Sprain

I can not find a relevant thread so I am going to start a new one; hopefully someone has had a similar experience or some basic medical training. Last Friday I twisted my ankle really good (walking in sneakers is so hard!). I came off a carnival ride and kind of tripped over the edge of the pavement while walking a little fast.

It is not broken because I can stand on it but it does hurt pretty bad. On Saturday night I went to a Halloween event and walked around with it taped up; it was hurting but I made it trough the night. It is purple on the side of my foot (I read that this is from blood from tearing the tendons) but it is swollen pretty badly still; more on my foot that the actual ankle. The one side looks like a pregnant lady foot and my other ankle is it's normal skinny self. I am trying to do the RICE method; and since I work from home I cam literally put my foot up with ice as long as I want to.. I am not sure if I should keep taping it though. I know it is not going to heal over night but I am trying to see if it still being swollen 5 days later is "normal" and how long I should expect to have swelling and pain. I really do not want to go to the Dr. to have them tell me to do the same thing I am doing.

    Thanks in advance.

Are you taking ibuprofen or something similar? I wouldn't be taping it if it's swollen.
I myself have swelling right beside the ankle bone, I think it's from moving & being on my feet so much. I always sleep w/feet elevated, always, & you should too. Try to stay off it as much as you can.
If you have some arnica, take it internally it's an herb for physical trauma. Try some Vit C too
    Good luck

Once I felt from the stairs, it was embarrassing LOL.
    1) You can soak your leg in epsom salt
2)you can also rub on it a balm like badger, cooling balm such as narayan, tiger.
    3)if you have a rubber band https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LXBAQ04...KM0FKWBR&psc=1
you can wrap it around your leg not so tight but to be able to walk try to walk as usuall, if leg does not hurt do not alter your walking pattern.
4)I bet you will not do it BUT this is the best and fast method nobody needs to know that you did.....You have to collect your morning pee put it on the towel wrap around your leg for at least for an hour. Pee is the best remedy for inflammation, swelling. you can wash it after.
    5)castor oil.

I am not taking anything because I try not to take pills unless absolutely necessary and while it hurts pretty badly I think I can make it through. I am not taping it either for the same reason, even though many places online have said I should. I do have arnica; I think in a cream from Colombia so there's that and I LOVE soaking anything in Epson salt; my sister had this Epsom salt body wash at her house last weekend it was so freaking good. Maybe I can hobble to the store and find some!

    Thanks guys.

The swelling is now more toward the top of my foot by my toes. It looks pretty gruesome.
