OMG! Pigs are so cute!!![]()

My little sister's boyfriend agreed to buy her one after she closes on her house. She is 23, BTW ladies- INVEST, INVEST, INVEST.
Anyway, back to the topic- I will be there every other weekend to check on my piggy niece or nephew. Apparently, they do not get big if you do not over feed them; kind of like gold-fish

This is not true- if she was told this by a breeder she needs to stay the hell away from that breeder.
There is no such thing as a "teacup pig". These are piglets. They either grow to potbellied pig size (100-250lbs) or sometimes sketchy fly by night people will straight up sell livestock... which can grow to 1000lbs.
There are rescues full of pigs abandoned by owners who got told to only feed their pigs tiny amounts so they won't grow. They still grow (if they survive), but end up with awful health and behavioral issues from being starved.

I have always wanted a cute little pink baby piglet! I adore them!

Thanks. I told her they will get bigger. Her boyfriend is from the Country and knows a lot about animals and livestock. I think what I meant is if you feed them a healthy amount and do not overfeed them (as they will continue to just eat and eat) you can control them getting too big. Thanks for the link though- I will pass it on.

My brother and sister-in-law bought a pig two years ago. They were told it was a micro/mini pot-bellied pig. (NO SUCH THING, BY THE WAY!) They were told it would get to be about 30 pounds when full grown. First of all, it takes about 3 or more years for them to be full-grown. Second, even with proper feeding it's going to get WAY BIGGER than 30 pounds. My sister-in-law is very diligent about feeding him only his grain, fruits and vegetables and nothing more than that except for the rare treat. They weighed him two weeks ago and he's 94 pounds. He still has a year left of growing before he'll be full-grown. I'm over there a lot and even though he's house trained, he's still a handful. (Now I know where the phrase pig-headed comes from! He is STUBBORN!!) I'd think long and hard about it. Google it and read all of the stories of people who thought they were getting something that would stay relatively small and then found out that even with proper feeding, you're going to end up with a pig weighing at least 100 pounds. They're cute as hell when they're babies. Not so much when they're grown, IMO.
For fun, Google Esther the Wonder Pig. She has her own Facebook page. She lives in the house with her two dads and she weighs 650 pounds (another supposed micro pig)!! They pretty much feed her everything and anything, though, so it's no wonder she's that huge.

I'd get a little black and white spotted piggy, if I didn't hear they ate carpet
I agree to beware of breeders that claim anything as being micro, I've seen animals with all sorts of health and spinal issues from being bred too small.
Some owners dress their mini pets up in clothes, sweaters, hats and jewelry that cause interference with them walking.
