Default Was it worth it to upgrade your internet? Did it increase your earnings? Best plan?

I'm trying to increase my earnings. I've upgraded my; computer, camera, lighting, camroom decor, hustle/attitude and look. So the only left really is upgrading my internet (and pushing traffic but that's a whole other subject). I'm a little nervous on whether it will be worth it. I'm also not sure which plan to pick. I'm looking at; residential plan-10 mbps up for $83 a month, fiber opts plan- 2000 mbps up for $300 a month(an additional $1000 for the installation), business class plan- 20 mbps for $180 a month.

What do you have right now? also how many sites do you work. I got 19mbps but only use 2mbps for Streamate. So unless your working loads of eggs then its not going to make you more.

    720p picture only need 2100kbps. 2mbps or 0.25mb

Also how far away are you from the site you cam from? Type cmd in windows and ping streamatemodels.com. If your on the west coast of USA it should be around or under 50 in the results min max Ave. East coast 80 ish. UK from 100-150. And so on.

Right now my upload speed is 4.6mbps. I usually work 3 sites, if and when its slow I add on five more. However in the near future I'd like to add more sites so total I'd be splitting around 10-18 sites. My result for the ping were in the low 80's.

OK then you would benifit from the speed boost in so much as smoother pictures on all sites. However if your on 10 and only get 4.8. Your some distance from the exchange. Ideally fibre would be better as less slow down over distance. There is a big difference between cable and fibre. Do you have Google in your area?

I'm not currently on 10 up. I'm on 5 Mbps up but my upload is 4.6 mbps. I don't have Google fiber in my area, I only have Comcast and a few others not worth mentioning.

    Sorry hun. Eairly morning eyes.

Then your really close to the exchange which is always great. The cpu on your computer can be a limiting factor once you get past 10 sites. But other than Streamate no other site really commands past 1mbps Internet. You can obviously go past that but if your using browser based camming rather than encoders for every one then you should be fine. Just dont let that cpu go past 80%

I would upgrade a little. do you have cable internet available? If it were me, I wouldn't drop the $1200 for fiber optic internet. even if you can get 25 or 50 down and 10-20 up, you'll see a decent increase in your stream quality and overall speed.

We have a fiber to cabinet in the UK. So its copper from the cabnet but fiber to the rest of it. This keeps it cheap for us. We get massive speed boosts. But only $70 a month with TV package and phone package.

See if you have vdsl in the area as that should be much cheaper than full fiber

You ladies are giving me hope! I'm moving to Naples Florida and it's kinda rural (2 acres) but not and it's a new house. I'm nervous cause I'm not 100% sure if I'm gonna be able to stream there. Centurylink said I have a dedicated cable line to my home and my speeds will be able to go up to 20 Mbps. I told the guy on the phone I do live streaming on twitch cause I'm a gamer (didn't want to tell him I'm a camgirl) but he said I should be fine. I split 3 websites currently including Streamate. But I hope it's not a situation where I buy the house and I only get like 1 Mbps omg I would end up homeless. I've heard better things about xfinity. Does anyone know if I could even switch or is this cable line held by centurylink? It sounds like it is. The guy on the phone was saying a dedicated line is even better than what I have now which is a shared line with frontier (used to be Verizon fios). But I did a speed test and I'm averaging 60 Mbps uploads and downloads. But I live in California now. I put an offer in on the house today..maybe I should just tell my realtor what I do so we can make sure it's right before I move in? Ugh not sure what I should do

Always confirm uploads. just because you are the only one on a line doesnt mean you have the exchange all to yourself. When you speak to them watch out for the words upto. They could give you 512kbps under that clause. Always the disclaimer of up to.

Is there anyway to confirm uploads 100%? If I haven't moved in yet?

If the house is built ask them directly to confirm both upload and download speeds. You are not willing to commit to a contract based on upto

Ok so I called centurylink and they said they can't see 100% what my speeds will be until I move in. But she was saying that from what they can see it's probably gonna be 2mbps on the upload and 20mbps on the download and she did say it was cable. I called xfinity to see if they can offer any better but they are gonna have to research it and call me back. I'll keep you updated but do you even think this is possible to stream on multiple sites with that option from centurylink? Thanks again!

Streamate needs 2mbps alone. Well 2.1 if you count the 128kbps mp3 stereo sound we provide. So 1 site may be your limit. I only mentioned all this as your not guaranteed to even get 2mbps on the upload. As they wont commit to giving you a solid estimate. Pleople only care about download.

Gotcha! Let's see what Comcast/infinity can offer. I'm still waiting on there call but I told my realtor and he said will make sure 100% before we commit. I'll keep you updated! Thank you so much for your help!

Hope both of you get what you need. 5mbps should be OK for 2-3 sites. But Streamate demands at least 2 all to itself

I got verizon Fios when I moved. I have the second best internet they offer. I would have gotten the best but I have MacBook Pro i7 not a custom PC that can handle like unlimited speed. Anyway, I had some very mediocre internet package with Comcast before I moved and actually seemed to have more traffic/paying customers. Unfortunately where I live now I can only get Verizon or some weird internet provider that offers some chugabug speeds.

My upload speed with Verizon is 124.59 and download is 112.01. When I had Comcast it was some pathetic speed compared to that.lol However, like I said above, I did better with Comcast. Go figure. I do wonder if I got more $$$ because I was living in NYC and I would be put on a better server.

Strangely I always do better if I lower my ranking. I always get slapped on the bbw top spot with an empty room normally unless a veteran comes on. I have no business up there. I might have the tech but I can never get shows on SM. Never struggle on the other sites.

Thanks for the feedback ladies. @Caramelcraze I think I currently have cable internet.....is cable internet when the modem is attached to a cable line? I think for now I'm going to upgrade to the either 10 or 20 upload....most likely 20. If I see a change in my earnings then in future I'll upgrade to Fiber.

I'd say go with the 20UP and hustle hard, save for the $1k deposit and $300 and switch to the fiber optic.

Having the fastest speeds possible is key for your business. Though you can make bank on a slower connection, you wanna give your clients the best possible experience. You will make your money back, plus if that net is on point.

I just recently updated my net (it's only 10 boo, hoo) but the second they offer fiber in my area, I'm switching. My sole reasoning for wanting super speeds is because I love splitcamming/working. A slower connection usually means overheating and wonky CPU if you're going to split cam.

ok so comcast/xfinity said they can offer me a package of 75mbps download and 10mbps uploads. He said that on average if you lose any mbps it will only be 2-5mbps (so that means lowest would be 5mbps) but they cant give me a 100% answer until I move in and test it on my computer myself. OMG =( what would you ladies do? I pretty much work mostly on ifriends and adultwork but from time to time I work on streamate but I do need streamate. Would you ladies just not take the risk of moving in? ugh I love this home..this sucks =( but this option is definitely better than centurylink which only could offer me a package of 20mbps and they even said on average my upload is gonna be 2mbps. How is it that certain internet companies can offer more speeds than others? Is it that they have more towers? better lines? I'm so confused with that? Thanks ladies!

I dont know about ifriends but

    Streamate 2.1mbps
    Adultwork. 800kbps

    2.9mbps

Skyprivate and nite flirt. 0 kbps lol. As they need to contact you first.

So thats 4 sites. I cant imagine ifriends will be over 1mbps. so say 3.9mbps 4 just incase leaving 1 Mbps as a header

    And thats 5 sites

Ask them how far away the property is from the exchange connection. if its miles then thats not great.

Many companies throttle bandwidth to make it cheaper for them. When I had adsl it was 20down 2up however it wasnt stable after jumping through hoops I let hubbie take over calling them. So after he destroyed the poor guy we managed to get the unadvertised top speeds we have offcom information commision trading standards etc that he knows all about. He pulled the we have done everything possible to be your customer. What are you trying to do to keep me as a customer. I wonder what the industry watchdogs will make of it route. We have fiber next day. Lol.

yayyyy =) so your saying theres a chance? lol (dumb & dumber movie quote) ha! It sounds great! I just hope it is what it is if I buy this house and move in. I guess worst case scenario I could run ifriends and adultwork but would have to ace out streamate if I have a really bad 2mbps upload but I think I could at least get 5mbps with this company. if it was your dream house would you take the risk? OMG I never realized living on acres could be such an issue when camming =( I guess I'm gonna get this issue no matter where I go because I want a house on acres. Has any other girls had this issue when trying to find a home on acres or more of a rural area? Like what do you do? There's no other options?
